I bet you 100 Americans died today, of natural causes. This is a shooting in a civilized country.

 

171 Civilians died because of gun violence and car bombings. 99% of these Civilians were going about their lives, going to market, going to school, at work, etc. How is this not civilized?

Who says Iraq isn't civilized? They have their issues with terrorism and such but that's not to say you can't make something of yourself there.

 

I really don't understand the motive behind all these attacks, we haven't had a major shooting in 20 years here in Australia possibly because we have strict gun laws. Now I don't want to start up a gun laws debate because quite frankly even with gun laws in place, America will continue to have these shootings because there is already too many guns out there. 

 

RIP to the victims and I hope they catch that alleged second suspect. 

No I mean like, there are no soldiers walking down the street here, no military presence (besides National Guard) or firefights.

This is why I choose not to watch the news anymore, not because I'm ignorant of the facts, but because I know the United States, and other countries are turning to chaos one day at a time, and I choose not to watch the outcomes as they happen.

 

@Slimory - The U.S. haven't had Active Troops in Iraq for a bit, and whoever said Iraq wasn't civilized, get your facts straight, they live in an extremely un-free country, but that is no reason to say they the vast majority of the Civilian population is uncivilized.

This has nothing to do with guns laws, if someone wants to go kill a bunch of people they will do it one way or another. Just like last year a guy in china killed 20+ kids with a knife in a school. 

 

This is the media fault they make these guys seem like a super heroes the way they show them on TV. It just gives the person on the edge of doing it the push over to actually do it.

I never said it did, but I thought that I'd mention that because of the laws over here we haven't had  major shooting for almost 20 years (when the gun laws were introduced). Yes, nothing can stop someone from going and killing a bunch of people but certain laws and such can be put in place to at-least limit the amount of these attacks taking place. 

 

I completely agree with you in terms of the media, about half of these shooters do it just so they can become "famous" on TV and the internet.

I think you need to just swallow a big ass chill pill, I don't know how this thread turned into a terror battle since the guy who shot everyone up was in the NAVY for over 3 years so he's obviously not al cicada (lol I liked the line)  there's always going to be terrorists "plotting" to kill people (keyword plotting) theres no sense in fighting it head on since its a losing battle from the start and its kinda like one of those Russian dolls you open the big one up and another smaller one pops out so on and so forth etc etc   if you feel this strongly about how much of a fucking "disaster" this is join the FBI or the NSA. cause bitching on a forum that has nothing to do with the topic anyway is gonna do nothing..

No, I think I like the notion of "perspective".

Here's the thing. Terrorists in the US are realy good at one thing - buying supplies or getting info or generally telling their plans to undercover federal agents. Other than that, they basically fail, and have historically basically failed. The more people working together, the more lilely this is to happen: more people, more chance of a leak.

Daily or near-daily open combat (i.e. murders in dark alleys don't count, unless as part of an organized campaigm) seems like a necessary condition.
