I installed els 7 and now els wont open the lights wont work either

Yup, my game just crashes. I'm really not impressed with Caine.

Posting no details about it won't get you anywhere.

If people actually bothered to read the countless topics or the information file included with ELS there would be far less issues such as crashing/lights not working.

 

Also, from what I've heard ELS V7 does not work/has issues on Windows XP.

i have windows 7 and i posted you whats ghoing on so its not my fault els 7 is having issues it maybe fully tested but there will always be bugs even after a release just like everything else

Okay, I have looked through guides, tried to get people from my clan to fix it and no luck. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 230M, what more do you want? Basically, I walk out of Niko's house, and it just crashes.

Well as for it crashing, I have one guess, how many .asi loaders do you have? If you have 2, xliveless.dll and dsound.dll, that might be the problem. I read over NicolaiB's thread again and he said that might be the problem. So double check you GTAIV root folder for those two files, xliveless.dll and dsound.dll. If you only have one and it still crashes, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Just fyi, if you can't get it to work, and you're not using XP; in 99,9% of the cases it's gonna be your own fault. "Nothing happens when I press the keys" and "the game crashes when I start it" are the typical I-have-not-installed-it-correctly-errors.

 

Post a screenshot of your GTA root directory. (where LaunchGTAIV/LaunchEFLC is)

Well, like Break just said, if it still crashes and you don't have 2 ASI loaders, then it is an installation error on your part, not ELS v7's fault.

I have dsound.dll and AdvancedHook.dll (as well as Scripthook) and it still crashes. I really hate ELS 7 because of this. 

 

I posted this once and of course there are like a dozen threads about this.   I'll throw you a bone here,   i had crashing issues when the game starts or when jumping into my first car.  For me it was conflicting key commands.

 

 

So try checking all the scripts/mods you have loaded and make sure none of the keys are being shared between them.   May be a good idea to switch around the FunctionKEY and ComboKEY in your ELS.ini.   It is a guess,  but the default Ctrl+M for infopanel may not work well because i think.... LCPDFR uses that for Call medic.   And i think enough people know about issues/crashes when dealing with ambulance call outs sometimes.

 

 

If setting your keys does not work either.   My last bit of advice is to reinstall,, or remove all other scripts.   Have only LCPDFR and ELS 7 loaded and tinker around with that.  If it starts working,  start adding back your other mods/scripts.

Just make sure you have activated the cars you want to use ELS, located in the ELS.ini file.  Scroll down and you'll see the different police car slots with "off" next to it, make sure the car slot you're using is set to "on".

 

Also, as stated above, I interchanged my ALT and CTRL keys in the ELS.ini, seems the CTRL is conflicting with a few of my mods.  Now my Alt+M key opens the ELS menu, not the default CTRL+M.

I'm just installing a fresh version of GTA IV right now. I'll install the basics (Trainer, ELS and all my cars), and change the keys on ELS as well. Hopefully it works. See, here's the thing, one of the guys from my clan didn't even touch the keys and his works just fine :/ . This is really bugging me now and it's forced me to give a 1 star rating on it. I am really not impressed.

You are not impressed because there is something wrong on your side, ELS V7 works properly and is fully functional.

try reinstalling lcpdfr and then use the scripthook file from the els 7 folder don't use the dsound that came with els 7...it worked for me
