New Stop The Ped Update Virus

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Downloaded the new Bejoijo Stop The Ped just now, and windows removed the file and told me it was a trojan file.

I've never had any problems with Bejoijo before, is windows defender just flagging it or is something fishy going on?

Yes I know his website is laced with redirections and virus ads but I definitely clicked the right thing and the file name downloaded was Stop The Ped.

Anyone know what this is about and if it actually is a virus?

There's no virus in STP, but from what I can see, it appears there is already a virus on your computer that is tampering with network activity. I would install a strong antivirus from a USB ASAP, and change all passwords once you're sure it's gone.

What makes you think there’s already a virus running on my system? And how can you tell it’s tampering with network activity?

Windows Defender, while not perfect, is unlikely to have very many false positives. As far as network activity, it went off during a download. You can get viruses through cookies and infected ads. Assume you are infected until you run something like Avast or Bitdefender on a Full Scan.

Pretty sure it's just a false-positive in this case. Had the same warning from Windows Defender, but using paid Kaspersky and MalwareBytes didn't flag anything.

The same warning when downloading stop the ped or something else?

I got one once I downloaded the STP and one when extracting it, same "Wacatac.B!ml" for both. Didn't happen for previous versions, just this new one.

Dont Add it to the exception list.

I suggest you download another antivirus program first and scan it, you can also use online antivirus scan pages.

I dont trust mods that requires me to be online and so i wouldnt trust anything like that.

GTA5 and LSPDFR Works fine offline just incase any of those online trolls comes in and say it does not work. I can be offline for days playing it, back to topic.

Good luck and have fun playing LSPDFR.

I downloaded from them just now and didn't get that warning from Windows Defender. However, ever WD keeps removing EUP, as it marks it as a virus. I think its just a false positive. But to be on the safe side, run a full virus scan of your PC.

Most addons for LSPDFR are .dll files. These are considered executable, and are seen just as dangerous as an exe file as it can do a lot on your PC. Windows defender goes hard on these files (as it should) because they can be dangerous.

As for StopThePed, thousands of people use it. Here is what I can tell you, it requires an online connection, and it's obfuscated to hell and back so you can't actually see anything in it. Though me personally,  I use it along with many many other people.

Never add downloads to your anti-virus exception list. Never disable your anti-virus just to install mods. You can go into windows security and find the most recent flag, and click "restore" this will then restore and allow the file on your PC.

Side note, whenever you go on bejoejojo's website, I suggest using ublock origin. His site is full of actual virus ads and porn.

You're all acting a bit daft. It is common knowledge that any form of .dll file that gets injected into an executable, will of course, be flagged as a virus. Even the most minimal amount of self-research would present to yourselves a mystical concept called a false positive.

Lovely article on what a False Positive is.

"False positives are mislabeled security alerts, indicating there is a threat when in actuality, there isn’t."
