hey LCPDFR,

I finally have time to skin again and am trying to get away from Paint.net

What is the best software to make skins that would have outlined text or shaded words(like the color has light blue at top and dark blue at bottom) ???

I really need a new software as soon as possible so a quick answer would be nice. Also, links to a free/trial version would be appreciated.

So I just need a sotware that one one of you guys has experience with and after you have used it, you enjoy it and recommend it.

Okay, LCPDFR!!

After listening to what you all have said, Paint.net is what I am hanging with for now. In order to help others out, I am providing the links to two(2) plug-ins I have found helpful.

GIMP 2.6 - Has most features of Photoshop and is free.

Out of curiosity, why not Paint.NET? It's much closer to GIMP in functionality than Paint (at least, if you add free plugins).

I use Paint.NET. It is way less complicated for me than GIMP.

I use Photoshop, only because I got the entire CS5 software pack from a friend @Adobe.

What is the proper name for like the shading of the text? Liek dark to light blue in one letter? I need to search it on their forums but do not know what it is called.

I won't recommend anything besides Photoshop. Not giving you ideas, nor am I encouraging you to, but I did not spend a dime on my Photoshop.

I know Photoshop has a free trial version too.
