Simple Seatbelt 1.0.1

Simple Seatbelt by greyplat

Simple Seatbelt adds a deadly consequence to crashes: damage and violent ejections! No more useless seatbelts that take up space and key binds without adding any utility or consequence to your game. Simple Seatbelt is functional, lightweight, standalone, and adds realism to your experience. With your seatbelt on, you can't exit or be pulled from the vehicle. Unbelted crashes above 40MPH will cause ejections that'll hurt you, and unbelted crashes at 60+ should kill you.

Additional Features

Just like real life, a seatbelt doesn't make you invincible. Belted crashes will still cause injury, so don't drive like a maniac. Low speed belted crashes cause relatively minor injury, but high-speed ones can take as much as half of your health. This incentivizes the player to drive more cautiously and responsibly.

Driving 15MPH+ without your seatbelt on will activate the chime as a friendly reminder. The chime will turn off when you buckle up, turn your lights/siren on, or slow down under 15MPH. A visual UI icon for the seatbelt will be visible on your screen, red for unbuckled, green for buckled. All configurable in the menu (default f7). Through the menu, you can toggle the seatbelt key, warning chime, notifications and use the drag to reposition feature for the UI. Don't worry about mistakes, the .ini file auto-generates, and any changes can be reset in the menu.

Think you're getting a bit too beat up after a crash? The damage values are configurable for unbelted crashes in the .ini file. Everything accessible in the menu is also in that file.

Try not to have your vehicle on auto-repair or God mode!

Have fun :)

AI disclosure

The author has disclosed that AI tools were used in creating the following aspects of this file:

  • Mod and Mod Content (Moderate)

This is my first plugin that I'm uploading publicly. I began work on it a few weeks ago and had absolutely no idea how to code, but I wanted to try my best to bring my idea into fruition. I taught myself a lot of C# while making this, but I like to be honest about my AI usage as well. AI was used to code the ejection physics, damage values, some of the drag to reposition feature, ui scaling and some of the notifications. The menu, images/ui, .ini auto generaton, audio files, references, and private statics were coded/sourced by myself without AI usage. I also used AI for debugging

Hi! The mod is great, but when I use it, for some reason the audio for mods like Grammar Police, Realistic Holster, and AxonSolutions stops working. Can you tell me what to do? Your mod is in my Plugins folder.

I'll look into that! Can you send me your log and message me on discord: stinkyfootcheese (I know the name is stupid, sorry)

I have a few things to say about this mod. 1st, the little things add up. Whenever there are small tweaks such as what this seatbelt mod offers, they add up and really bring the game and relaism aspects to life and really make you feel apart of your character in LSPDFR. I think that all of the features this offers adds the perfect amount of effeciency and realism in your car. I honestly couldnt think of anything about the features themselves or how the damage system plays out that I did not like. A couple minor quirks that have already been addressed that are present which I am confident you will 100% work out and with all that said, if anyone sees this, do download it and give it a try! The customization options to change the audio and hud for it are also a great way to make it suit your needs. Something not every mod offers! Great job on this one!
