Description
This modification enhances keyboard and mouse driving in Grand Theft Auto V, by smoothing out throttle, brake and steering, providing a cruise control feature with auto-follow, and other miscellaneous improvements such as engine control, fuelling, etc. Aggressive driving is still possible, either by double tapping W/S, or enabling race mode (detailed user guide included in download).

 

Important

This mod is known to be incompatible with ikt's Manual Transmission, and Custom Gear Ratios. It may also be incompatible with other similar driving mods.

 

Features
     - Smooth acceleration/deceleration
     - Smooth, realistic steering (with steering angle hold outside of vehicle)
     - Ignition control (engine stays on when leaving vehicle)
     - Fuel consumption and refueling
     - Cruise control with auto-follow
     - Improved, automatic gearbox
     - Optional custom gear ratios
     - Compact and informative UI
     - Extensive configuration
     - Turn and hazard indicators with automatic cutoff

 

Planned Features
     - Odometer (have to figure out how this will work in game)

 

Known Bugs
     - UI may flicker when FPS fluctuates a lot

     - If Menyoo is installed, AI shifting will not work in certain spots (such as Vespucci beach)
     - Please report any further bugs

 

Installation
    1. Ensure you have the following installed:

          - ASI Loader (OpenIV > Tools > ASI Manager)
          - ScriptHookV (latest version)
          - ScriptHookV .NET (latest version)
    2. Navigate to the Grand Theft Auto V main directory.
    3. Go to the Scripts folder (part of ScriptHookV .NET, if such folder does not exist, create it).
    4. Unpack the archive that was downloaded into the Scripts folder (SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder should be alongside one-another inside the Scripts folder).

Nice mod, but can i somehow turn off that double tap acceleration and braking? cuz when im trying to stay with a speed limit, its most of time annoying..

    Do you mean being able to double tap the key without full acceleration? If so, set the double tap max delay in controls.ini to 0. If you mean being able to go full throttle/brake without double tapping, use race mode.

    If you go to the SmoothDrivingV folder in Scripts, you can open UI.ini and disable the UI there. And sure, I can add those features once the other stuff is fixed.

    Then I guess double check that you installed it correctly. Make sure you have ScriptHookV .NET, ScriptHookV, ASILoader, and that you installed both files in the right place.

    Amazing mod, I just wanted to ask. Are you only able to move the fuel and rpm bars left and right? I was hoping to move everything to the very right of my screen so it sits on top of my els panel.

    Hello, I just download and install this script, but when I launch my game, it doesn't work. I put the SmoothDrivingV.dll and the SmoothDrivingV folder into my scripts folder. Is there anyone who could help me ?

    Yeah I would have to add some more options there. The UI is very much a work in progress.

    Yes in many other scripts, but not in yours. Which means we would still have to get something on top of yours, would be nice to have that little nifty thing consolidated in this so we can avoid running too many of similar scripts on top of each other. I might have missed something, and apologies if I did, I have just noticed I manually have to turn off the blinker after I complete my turns because your script doesn't do it.

    What I meant is that it already exists in my mod. There is a bug that if you disable smooth steering, it doesn't turn off automatically, but other than that it's already implemented.

    I am not sure why but the mod does not work for me. Previously I was using NMF 4 and decided to update to this. All my other scripts are working except this. The log also shown no entry. 

    I do have all the Community Scripthook files required (2&3)

    This worked, and it's great, just couldn't get used to it. Might try again.

     

    Feature request: Ability to toggle max driving speed to be the speed limit.

    It works great, driving left and right is a bit difficult for me. Although I would like it to be compatible or at least add the gear of the lever with some button of the xbox control so as not to press "space"
