** NOTE REGARDING RPH CRASHES **

If your GTA V crashes to the desktop, and RPH says that the crash was most likely caused by Keep Calm...to put it simply, it most likely was not caused by Keep Calm.

RPH tries to detect which plugin caused the crash by calculating which plugin was running at the time of the crash. Keep Calm runs constantly in the background, so naturally, RPH will think that Keep Calm is the culprit whenever you have a game crash.

GTA V can CTD for any number of reasons. Keep Calm does not do anything heavy enough to cause a game crash...I am not saying that it will never happen, but it has never happened in the history of Keep Calm's development. Anyone who has reported a CTD crash so far has had their issues stemming from elsewhere.

If you get an RPH crash that says Keep Calm was the cause, try un-installing Keep Calm, or disabling it from starting in the RPH settings. If the crashes persist, your issues are being caused by something else.

If the crashes go away, then re-install Keep Calm by downloading the latest release from LCPDFR.com. If the crashes then return, we need to diagnose the issue further, and you should post a comment here (or in the forum topic) so we can look into it.

** IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE ENTITY PERSISTENCE MOD!! **

If you use the Entity Persistence mod by FtDLulz, you need to do ONE of two things...

  • If ped persistence is enabled, ensure that it is set to only 'persist' dead peds, not live ones (this is the default setting, to my knowledge)
  • OR...Disable ped persistence entirely

If ped persistence is enabled, and set to 'persist' LIVE peds, then Keep Calm will have NO effect at all!! (Not to mention that you will have performance issues if you do that!)

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Requirements
You must have at least version v0.41 of the RAGE Plugin Hook installed, LSPDFR v0.3.1, as well as v1.6.0.1 of the Stealth.Common DLL, which is packaged with this release. Keep Calm will check these versions on startup, and will refuse to run if older versions are installed.

You must have a fully legal, non-pirated version of GTA V.

Installation
- Copy the Keep Calm.dll and Keep Calm.ini files into the Plugins folder of your GTA V directory.

- Copy the Stealth.Common.dll file into your main/root GTA V directory.

Features
- Nearby drivers and pedestrians should not panic in the event of gunfire (police officers are excluded)
- Some customization is available via the config file
- Peds spawned by LSPDFR and LSPDFR plugins are excluded, to eliminate conflicts with callout plugins

Usage
- Press the toggle keybind (CTRL + 9 by default) to start/stop Keep Calm
- Keep Calm will start on it's own by default, unless the auto-start is disabled in the config file

Known Issues
Please note that GTA V does not always provide access to every pedestrian and vehicle in the area, and some peds may spawn AFTER the "calming" function has already been triggered. It runs in the background continuously, but each ped has to be modified individually.

As a result, some drivers and pedestrians may still panic in the event of gunfire. This may improve as new versions of the RAGE Plugin Hook are released.

This plugin has been released with the intent of minimizing the panic attacks experienced by the AI.

The panic attacks will NOT be eliminated completely, however, this plugin should hopefully minimize them enough to make the game more enjoyable. The main intent with this plugin is to not have drivers run officers over when they are in the middle of making an arrest after a pursuit.

Wait a minute...are you all running Build 393 of GTA? I'm still on 372! That has to be it.

LSPDFR is having performance issues in 393...that's gotta be it.

I used this for a couple of hours in one session without stutters with the plugin, shut down GTA V for a while and came back and had stuttering issues with this plugin loaded, all on the same version of GTA

I was using it on the latest build indeed, as I had prepared all of my files for 2.0 already.

It must be.  I'm starting to regret buying the steam edition of GTA V because of the updates.

I'll see if there is anything that can be done from a code standpoint. But I have a feeling that most of these freezing issues stem from the changes Rockstar made in the 393 update.

I deliberately have not updated to 393 yet, just because of the issues I have been reading about. I do not have the Steam version, so I just turn off the wifi adapter before starting GTA. The game starts up in Offline Mode, no update.

I imagine you could do something similar with the Steam version, but it sucks for those that wish to play online as well. Personally, I bought GTA V when I found it on sale, solely for the purpose of playing LSPDFR. So I have zero issues with not updating my install.

It sounds like the lag and framerate issues are appearing in vanilla installs of GTA V as well, with people who have no mods installed at all. So it appears that Rockstar's changes may have had an undesired effect on performance across the board.

If that's the case, I would expect another update coming relatively soon. Until then, I'm sticking to build 372.

But again, I will definitely see if there is anything I can do...I have a couple of ideas that I can try. When I have another version for you guys to play around with, I will definitely upload it.

EDIT: All that being said, I did have a chance to play LSPDFR for a couple hours yesterday. I didn't have any freezing issues (which makes me think its definitely build 393 causing this), and the mod kept the Los Santos public nice and calm as I went about arresting bad guys.

Hmm...my first thought was that maybe some of your guys' computers couldn't keep up with the demand.

But most of you have equal or better specs than I do! I have a desktop which is more powerful, but I mostly play LSPDFR on my laptop, which has an i7 4700HQ, 12GB of RAM, and a GTX 760M. Granted, I have only played one "full shift" with this plugin...I have mostly just tested around with it a little here and there. I haven't seen any freezing at all.

Can some of you try turning down your game settings a little, just to test with, and to see what happens? My settings are mostly around "High", I have MSAA set to 2X, and my resolution is 1920x1080.

I will definitely see what I can do about the freezing though. I think its because its being called too often. I'll play around with it and see what I can come up with.

Give me a couple days, I'm pretty sure I can tackle this.

Thanks for the update - I use your traffic control mod atm, and I feel this would add to the management of a scene.

Every 4-5 seconds the game locks up for a split second, am I doing something wrong?

Its an ongoing issue, there has been a discussion about it in the previous pages of the comments.

I believe it has to do with the new update for GTA V, but I unfortunately have not had much time to debug it yet.

I'm working on it though.

This mod is awesome! Really help to keep the scene clean and now the AI don't run over you when they see you with a gun! :)

Sadly, I got the freezing issue too because I updated to play LSPDFR 0.2.

Really hope you can fix this issue, wish you best luck on this!

And awesome mod with Traffic Control too! You are my savior!

Uploaded a new version...hopefully this fixes it.

I've been having issues with my copy of GTA V ever since it forced me to re-activate and update to v393.

But I think I have got it nailed down. I've decided to release it for public feedback...it is a beta after all, haha.

Let me know if there are any issues!

That's strange, I never saw that. Then again, my GTA hasn't been in the best condition, as I mentioned.

I will be looking at it again regardless, but if this happens with anyone else, I'll be pulling v0.0.3 down.

EDIT: Never mind, I've decided to just remove it anyway. It will go through further testing before being re-released.

    - Your computer specs?

    - What other mods you have installed?

    - What version of RAGE Plugin Hook do you have installed?

    GTA 5 : v1.0.393.2 (Latest)

RAGE Plugin Hook : v0.16.607.3692 (Latest)

I started from a fresh install.

Install GTA 5, update to 393, put RageHook 16, put LSPDFR 0.2, and put one after one all the mods, testing after each one to be sure there was no conflict.

And like I said before, KeepCalm 0.0.2 was working as intended, only problem was the performance issue and the freezing.

I know the team from LSPDFR had a lot of problem with the way the new update (v393) of GTA 5 was handling with the AI, maybe it's something like that ? I don't know if KeepCalm alter the AI by anyway ?

If you need more info or anything, just ask! Hope this can help you!

Hey stealth, the mod's really effective at preventing peds from freaking out at the slightest danger. However, I'm still getting stutters every few seconds with the newest version. When disabling your mod, the stuttering goes away. I know you're still working out the kinks - just thought I'd let you know.

I have some information for you. I just test your plugin and here is my result:

    1) I have freezing every 5 seconds ( i thought it depends from spaming in console)

    2) This inscription near map does not disappear

but this mod working good. I think you should activating your mod by key, because it spaming a lot of commands and slowing the computer.

I too am having an issue where my game is freezing, although I didn't keep track to how often but I know it is under 10 seconds.

Yeah, my game keeps stuttering every 3-4 seconds. The previous release I had installed (before the update today), the freezing was a lot more violent and "hiccup-y?" for a lack of a better term. The most recent version of Keep Calm mitigated how violent the stutters were, but it's still unfortunately frequent and for me, at least, unplayable. The stutters kind of resemble that of your Computer being overloaded and therefore causing these micro-stutters because it's unable to keep up, essentially a very choppy "slow-motion" kind of state.

On the less negative note, the plugin is very useful and for the 10-20 minutes I've had a go with it - it's definitely a much needed mod. Hopefully you can remedy this problem.

Folks, the freezing/stuttering is an ongoing issue.

I thought I had fixed it, so I had released a new build, version 0.0.3, earlier today. Turned out that version had another separate issue, so I removed it, and reverted this page back to version 0.0.2. So there was no "update" today.

I'm hoping to have a new update soon.

Interesting! Seems like the stuttering issue for at least me seems to be different each time I boot up the game, it also seems a lot less violent if you load the plugin via the console vs. loading the plugin automatically through the startup file within the main directory. Either that or the "update - non update" caused a placebo effect for me, as it seemed a lot more calm (no pun intended).

I also encounter freezing with this mod. when the mod is active it freezes every few seconds for atleast 0.5 seconds, disable the script and my game runs smooth =/ Hopefully it can somehow be fixed because this is an amazing script and i really don't want 10 cars going berserk and nearly hitting me everytime a shot is fired or i'm in a pursuit with armed suspects
