BasicCruiseControl - Finally keep to speed restrictions without problems! 3.0

[Contact me for any bugs of feature requests! As I had to transfer my entire code to Scripthook V there might be some tiny bugs that I will update in the next week ^^]

Hey everyone,

I managed to find my files for this script on my old PC!

I updated BasicCruiseControl to work again with the newer versions of Scripthook!

So: Lots of you want to keep it real, especially when it comes to speeds when on patrol in LSPDFR. And most of you know how hard and annoying that can be! The problem is, that this is pretty hard and can get annoying after a certain amount of time. That can be a big minus to "realistic" patrols, because you as a cop should absolutely stick to the speed limit. This plugin adds a basic cruise control/speed limiter/what ever you want to call it to the game that lets you select a speed your vehicle will never exceed. You can set the CC to hold (pause working) while you have your emergency lights on in the config file!

Installation

!! THIS IS A SCRIPTHOOK V .NET SCRIPT !!

1. Download Scripthook V from http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/ and follow the readme in it's RAR archive!

2. Download Community Scripthook V .NET from https://de.gta5-mods.com/tools/scripthookv-net and copy all the files to your GTA V main directory

3. (If you don't have it already) create a folder called "scripts" in your GTA V main directory

4. Drag BCC.dll and BCC.ini into that folder

Voilá!

Quick troubleshooting:

If you have vehicles spawning/weird things happening while using the PageUp and PageDown keys, that is most likely due to a trainer (like SimpleTrainer). Make sure to disable those keybindings in the trainers ini!

Thanks...

...to all the guys on the Rage & LSPDFR Discord who are there to help whenever they can :3

Feel free to give me feedback and request features!

Have fun with that little aid for your patrols 🙂

@ThruZZd Great stuff been looking for something like this for ages, just an idea.. Would there be away to automatically turn it off when you put your lights on, from say stage 2 and then automatically back on when you turn your lights off?

Yep that would be possible. Do you mean when you turn on ELS stage 3 oder when you turn on ELS stage 2?

I know a lot of people like to use stage 2 to do routine traffic stops so I did mean stage 2 but I guess stage 3 would make more sense as we would then go to stage 3 if the subject decided to not stop and we ended up in a pursuit.

Seems like a very great tool, however, I'm having issues getting it to work. The UI works fine and all keys correspond correctly, however, I'm still having to tap "W" to go a certain speed. It seems like the 'limit' part of this isn't working for me specifically. Any ideas?

@ThruZZd, maybe you can tie your script into GTA's logic of regulating speeds across their roads and highways. I remember there was a script or plugin that actually showed the maximum speeds on the roads and highways within GTA V. Maybe you can figure out how to get your script to recognize these speeds, and automatically adjust to them. Something similar to the radar/GPS based cruise controls seen in some of today's cars.

That plugin is Rage Show my location, I still use it as I love to know the speed of the certain area.

I think he was more so saying that it automatically sets the CC to the speed limit of the certain road

Dynamically changing the max speed based on the road's speed limit (or road type – street vs. highway) would be great!

Sereous313, was just pointing out the actual plugin where you are able to see the maximum speed of a particular road. But yes, having a cruise control option for automatic road speed assist would be neat.

It's a great mod, reminds me of Mafia 1, but here's a question: what does "cruise control is breaking" mean? If I let my car drive in this state, it starts behaving unpredictably, and the only way to avoid it is to keep spamming "w", keeping the car within the speed limit manually. Which goes against the idea of this mod. Am I doing something wrong here?

I believe this means that when cruise control is activated when you are driving above the speed limit, the cruise control forces the car to slow down/brake until it reaches the speed limit and then will continue driving at that speed. For instance, if you were driving at 65mph at Code 3, your cruise control gets disengaged due to code 3, and you can drive as fast as you wish. Once you deactivate your lights (Code 3), cruise control gets engaged again and will force your car to slow down/brake until it reaches the cruise control speed limit (which I believe is defaulted to 35mph) thus the you see the message "Cruise Control is breaking (braking is the right spelling of course lol)" until the scripts slows down the car from 65mph to 35mph.

That makes sense, the spelling got me - I thought the script wasn't functioning properly, hence "breaking", but if it's meant to be "braking", then yep, that's pretty much what it's doing, though... in a weird way. It's like the game is fighting me, and the car gets all the punishment being caught in a crossfire of my input and the script's commands. Anyway, thanks for this clarification!

Could you also please add a KMH option as well as MPH?

This crashes my lspdfr when I go on duty.  It's fine if I load it up after I go on duty

I don't think it's all my cars, but one for sure only gives me two options. Cruise control off or Cruise control is on hold (in purple text). What does that even mean and how do I fix it?

How do you load it up after, because my cruise control also keeps crashing

I don't load it anymore wit rage when I go on duty.  I load it up after I go on duty using the rage console.  Press F4 then type load plugin then type basiccruisecontrol and it will load and shouldn't have any problems after that

So say you are on 50mph and set your cc on 30mph and then you enable it. Normaly it just lets the car "roll out" until you reach 30. As if you would just stop accelerating. Breaking is a typo I made which I'm going to patch out soon. Should say braking. It is the phase the car is slowing down. Does that explain the weird behaviour or is there really something wrong with the plugin? :)

Hmm... For me it does not crash and they will stick to the limit. Is there anything in your logs about why it crashed? I'm going to update it soon, hopefully it will work for you then!

Hey! There is an option in the config saying ToggleWithLights. If it is on true your cc will be put on hold when you activate your lights (if you use ELS with your stage 3 lights). And enables it again when you switch them off. Changing it to false will fix it for you, though I can't tell you why it thinks your cars lights are on!

I tried to do that, but there is no "simple" way to check the max speed of a road. Afaik RageShowMyLocation only checks wheter a street name contains Freeway and stuff and just sets the speed according to that. Just try it: Drive throuh a mini road which RSML almost always sets to 25mph and you will see 35 or 40 signs.
