Hey guys,

Please post here, any problems that you are having with the spotlight script and I will be more than happy to correct the issues.

Update:

I just released V1R1.2,
If you have SpotLight already installed, Simply replace the spotlight.net.dll file and add the following lines to the ini;

[NSTOCKADE]
spot-x=0
spot-y=0
spot-z=0

[Noose]
spot-x=0
spot-y=0
spot-z=0

New Findings:

The spotlight shows up for some police cars but doesn't for others, for example, it shows up on my police2 but not on the noose.
If this is happening, open up common/data/vehicles.ide
Look for the car that you are having problems with and make sure that all the names are consistent.
They should look something like this.

police, police, car, POLICE, POLICE, VEH@STD

For example, I have seen where someone had it like so;

police, police, car, POLICE, ADMIRAL, VEH@STD

As you can see, on the 5th entry, it is written down as ADMIRAL, this will simply not work as the names have to be consistent across the entire entry.

First off, let me say that this mod is awesome and has been a long time coming. My only problem so far is that it does not turn on in my police patriot model. It works fine on my other police models, but for some reason it just does not want to work on the patriot. any ideas on why this might be?

There was a problem with the first version released, V1R1.2 should fix this problem. If you are using V1R1, I suggest you update it to the newest(V1R1.2)

Hello, when I try to change the images.txt and save it once I have inserted the new line it won't allow me to, it says access denied. I tried changeing the permission on the file but that wouldn't change either. Any help would be great! Thank you

Copy images.txt to your desktop, Make the change to the file on your desktop, drag it back to the original folder to overwrite it.

Please look below at Michael's post if you need help installing it on EFLC.

For you EFLC users who cannot get it to work, and receive that error, here is the solution:

What I did:

For the Images.txt open the file here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty City\EFLC\TBoGT\common\data\Images.txt

Add the following at the very bottom.

platformimg:/models/cdimages/spotlight 0

For the "SpotLight.net.dll & spotlight.ini" put those in the:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty City\EFLC\scripts

Lastly for the "spotlight.img" put that in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty City\EFLC\TBoGT\pc\models\cdimages

If neither of these work, Reply and tell me because I might know another way.

If you need any car mappings, take a look at this thread.
http://www.lcpdfr.co...ar-coordinates/

Notes:
If you are getting an object reference error it is because it did not create the spotlight object.
There may be 2 problems.
1. you did not put the spotlight.img in the right directory pc>models>cdimages
if you did then,
2. take a look at the images.txt file and make sure that you added:

platformimg:/models/cdimages/spotlight 0

Please note that between "spotlight and "0" there is a tab, not a space.

I'm not really understanding the mapping.
If someone else is using EVI's LAPD CVPI and has found a good mapping for it, please post it.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: I got it now.

It's 0. Try it with Num lock on/off.That's what I had to do. It's either on/off, can't remember which. I'll post it in a sec...Edit: Num lock has to be off to turn it on, and num lock has to be on to move it. At least for me.

Q: Is it possible to use double digit numers for the mapping? Ex; 0.75 instead of 0.7? As I need to move it up half way a little more, and I can't get it exactly using whole numbers. It worked.

Edit:

Here's a good mapping for EVI's LAPD CVPI:

[Police]
spot-x=-0.72
spot-y=+0.7
spot-z=+0.54

My problem is even though I installed it perfeclty, the spotlight only show up on the polmav and the police2. I tried to fiddle around with the ini, like changing the turn on button or change the position, but no, it doesn't wanna light up, no matter what I do.
Also is there a way to decrease the brightness?

I don't think there is a way to decrease the brightness.

About your issue, try changing the x,y,z. Maybe it's being hidden, possibly being inside the engine or inner car areas?

I agree with you, if you use whole numbers, for example 1 or 2 instead of decimals(0.5,0.1) it will definitely move it a greater distance. Im thinking maybe you can't see it cause its either underground or somewhere really high up. Start with 0 and make your way up with 0.1 increments.

I had a problem... rather stupid of myself, but just make sure you put the correct files in the scripts folder xD It's very easy to be so exited and rush through the process.

Is it normal to have to put num lock on to press 0, then to turn it off to move the direction? Constant on/off is very irritating.

You can always change the on-off key in the ini file. :)

Well what I did was lift the car up in the air with airbreak, and I was using the default values on the original gta iv police cruiser. With the same coordinates the light works on the police2 (even though it's a car mod) The light doesn't work on the noose either, it is a modded car, and had the same values as the cvpi.

This is a good mapping for the Chevrolet Caprice:

[Police]
spot-x=-0.9
spot-y=+1.0
spot-z=0.5

The only time it will give you a script error is when it could not load the spotlight object.
Please double check that you have the correct settings in images.txt and that you placed the spotlight.img into the correct folder.
If all checks out, copy what it says in the console window and paste it on here.
