  1. As a former 2003 CVPI owner, I feel I should throw my 2 cents in here. First of all, make sure you know what you're talking about in regards to cars, or at least know and trust someone who knows what they're talking about. As many above have stated, ex-cop cars are very hit and miss purchases. Personally, looking at everything you've provided, I'd pass on that. Even for just $1000. A few points: 2003 models are notorious for engine and electrical problems. They were also the first model year that switched around the suspension system as well, and as such all the bugs weren't necessarily worked out by the time they shipped. FWIW, 2004 models are widely regarded as the 'best' model year CVPI, citing gearing and the fixes that were made on the 2003 model. The rims on that CVPI are the recalled 7-hole models. Ford recalled them because they were weak and tended to crumble and warp under pressure. They replaced them with the 13-hole models, as pictured here. And don't expect Ford to honor the recall if you get stuck with the recalled rims, these are fleet cars, and they're not interested in helping out a second hand owner. You're looking at an ex-RCMP vehicle, which means it was used heavily in the snow, and snow = road salt/sand which in turn = tons of corrosion. I'd suggest trying to find one from a drier region of the globe, there's a reason many departments in the US Southwest still run CVPI's made in the 90's. An ex-cop car can be a very practical purchase, but don't hesitate to look around a bit. A poorly looked at ex-cop car could turn out to be a total nightmare and an endless money pit. Remember most officers don't own their cars, and as such many get abused (think of how many times you've seen your local PD drive em up and over curbs to get past traffic). Not to mention the tons of idle hours, broken up only by bursts of acceleration by flooring the throttle. (Btw, 2006+ models keep track of Idle time as part of their digital odometers, be sure to check that out as I think it works out to something like 1 mile for every 3 Idle Hours.) That being said, should you find a car that meets your standards, if it can stand up to the punishment of police work, it can certainly stand whatever you can throw at it. If you're dead set on buying an ex-cop car, I'd recommend looking through here: http://chicagomotors.com/index.aspx I've heard plenty of success stories from this place and they really know their stuff. On top of that, I'd recommend looking around here and doing some research. I used to be a part of this community, and they're all very knowledgeable people who would be glad to give you some pointers. http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php You can also PM me if you want any more insight from a former CVPI owner. EDIT: 1 Idle Hour = ~30 miles.

  4. I'd use the hell outta this if there was a foglight removal option. Nice work :)
  5. This script is terrible, go back to policing scripts. EDIT: Hooray neg reps! I've been testing this with Brave. I'm a Sgt. in his clan at LC-Police.com and I'm only just messing with him. They see me trollin'...
  6. That's no Hummer knockoff. I thought it was too, until I zoomed in a bit. Definitely some kinda Suburban like vehicle, and what's more is it looks like it's painted up for Border Patrol...
  7. Hi all, I'm a total newbie to Zmodeler (sort of - been years since I actually touched it, bought it again recently). I'm wondering if anyone here could shed some light on how I could go about adding a livery support to a default vehicle. For example, I'd like to take a Blista compact and have it so it spawns with various paint schemes. For time's sake, let's say the vehicle already has a template mapped to it that I can edit. I know that the textures would have to be named something like "blista_sign_1, blista_sign_2, etc.", but besides that I'm lost. How do I tell the model to use those liveries? I apologize if I'm not being clear enough, I don't know modelling terminology too well. Also, my apologies again if this is the wrong forum, but I'm not really sure where the best place to ask something like this would be. If anyone could give me a hand, that would be much appreciated! Thanks, - CG Blaze

  10. Crown Victoria with Whelen Justice by Shepardson I've used this a bit. It's got a kinda cool/interesting lighting setup actually. It also looks great alongside the CVPI by BxBugs you referred to. By the way, did you know those cameras (and the wraparound part of the rambar for that matter) are removable by a texture change?

  12. Looks like a NASCAR pace car. :P I surely would never think it's a cop, lol.
  13. This trailer looks GREAT! That's it, I'm preordering. Look at the detail they put into this! Even the buses look spot on accurate. Getting more excited by the day. Praying there'll be a stable PC release, though my expectations for it are low.
  14. My knowledge of Zmodeler is extremely limited. I only picked it up a couple of days ago, but I can tell you this: To make that possible, the rambar would have to be named as an extra, and because of the way ELS works, you wouldn't be able to have an ELS compatible car spawn with a 50/50 chance of it also having a rambar. ELS works by adding/removing the 'extras' (with emissive textures) on a car in certain patterns, so if you have the rambar named as an extra, using it with ELS would make the rambar itself 'flash' on and off when ELS is enabled. If you have no intention of making the car ELS compatible, then naming the rambar as an extra should do the trick. Better modelers than I can pick up from here or correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. No no no no, I believe you misunderstood me. I was referring to their real life counterpart. The NYPD, which the LCPD is based off of, uses specific pushbars to their dept. This was taken into account at some level by Rockstar's design team when they modelled the police cars for IV. Since it's more efficient to just re-use the same pushbar from the old police car models, rather than designing and building a new one, obviously that pushbar isn't department specific in the GTA universe. I was just trying to make the point that although those pushbars are NYPD like in design, they are highly unlikely to be changed into something more California appropriate, as it's a really minor detail. Know what I mean?
  16. Oh damn! And just like that, now BxBugs' cars are finally useful... :p Awesome video too, very well done!

  18. If you need any first hand details about New York vehicles, I'd be glad to offer my input. This sounds great!
  19. Actually... LCPD (NYPD) pushbars are, indeed, specific to that department. Same goes for most of the pushbars in use by the CHP and various other departments as well. OPP and LASD spring to mind... I believe they are made by inmates, if I'm not mistaken. At least that's the case for CHP. So that would be the basis for his reasoning. In reality though, that's something that probably won't be 'fixed' as it probably isn't even seen by R* as a problem. I'm certain the last thing on their minds is "Shit, the cop cars have NYPD rambars, specific to the NYPD only. Everyone will notice this, back to the drawing board...".
  20. ...... ....... ......... TRAINS!!! lol, That's awesome. That white car almost definitely says "Sheriff" on it. Anyone else notice the yellow pseudo-R8 in the IGN pic has the actual Audi logo on it?... EDIT: Nevermind, it's VVVV not OOOO according to this new, bigger picture. New Coquette? No, I'd be inclined to call it a new Turismo over that. Looks very much like the current Ferrari styling. Also... That is totally a police van I'm looking at. Anyone keeping score of just how many police vehicles have been shown? At this point I'd say there's easily gotta be more than in GTA IV/EFLC. We saw jet fighters already, I wonder if we'll also see tanks...
  21. Looks like a SoundOff EPL9000. What do you mean about the ETF skin? Isn't that already on the Suburban...?
