  1. Whoops, my bad. Looks like the Axixtech car never got a release. I mixed it up with the Liberty equipped CVPI that he DID release.
  2. There is no Star Sabre model in existence, at least as far as I know. There may however be a couple of Soundoff equipped cars out there. gfxle recently released a CVPI based on the Charlotte-Mecklenberg, NC Police Dept. over at GTAPolicemods.com. It has a Soundoff EPL9000 which I believe is similar. PFC Barefoot released a couple CV's with Axixtech bars a while back on there as well, and while they (obviously) aren't Soundoff's, they look pretty similar. Try those?
  3. I think he nailed it, or at least got the companies right. Oddly enough, my town uses that Star bar and the next town over from me uses that Soundoff....
  4. Also, @FCV96, I'm pretty certain there's an ELS version of the van on here, maybe the Dippy as well. Take a quick search...
  5. Nice! Just like I remember from my childhood!
  6. You put it into better words than I ever could've, lol. This is precisely what I mean. Shooting is a last resort, when all other options are exhausted/failed. The logic behind the policy is basically a humanitarian thing. If you shoot a suspect and permanently injure them or something, that's a whole lot of liability issues, a whole lot of paperwork and an overall bad PR move at the most basic level, without getting too deep into it.I'm sure it varies department to department, but here in NY, that's the way it's done. For the record, this info is coming straight from the law/policing classes I took in college (and never went anywhere with lol). The professor was a retired MTA Police officer/detective.
  7. Well, that escalated quickly... FWIW, it's a rule in many PD's that you are supposed to unload your entire magazine when opening fire. Shoot to kill, not to maim.
  8. Oh absolutely. They should ALL be proper upstanding citizens, examples for the rest of society, but they reality of it is just that you can't take the humanity out of a person just because of their job. An asshole is going to be an asshole, regardless of what their career is. Luckily the good outweighs the bad most of the time in regards to the police.
  9. Not really. I guess I kinda botched my point. I judge people based on their actions as individuals. Some people a great, others not so much, regardless of their standing in society. My experience with the police as a whole has been more or less good, and by default I think they're good people, certainly with good intentions, but as was stated earlier, no group of people is without a few "bad eggs". You know what I mean?
  10. I tried to post this comment earlier, but then LCPDFR went down. Again. lol Looks great man. The model isn't the greatest, but you've really made lemonade outta lemons. I love the attention to detail on the LED lightheads, it really adds a nice touch. Keep it up man, you look like you've got a promising modelling career ahead of ya. I'd love to see what you could do with a CVPI!
  11. Police officers are just human beings with a title. They're just like everyone else when you get down to it. And that is how I judge them. I've had experiences where officers have been pure assholes to me. When I was younger, I got stopped by a local PD officer on foot and held until my parents could pick me up. At the time, all I was doing was walking down the street with my at the time girlfriend. Other hoodlums in the area were causing trouble and somehow I got tagged as one of them. I remember he specifically cursed out my mother when she came to pick me up, he called me all sorts of names and the worst, he cursed out and told my ex's mom via phone that she was a terrible parent. She, at the time, couldn't come to pick her up because she was in the hospital, attending to her sister who was suffering from a condition known as cancer. I had (and still do have) connections to the Mayor at the time, who I recounted all of this information (and then some) to, and I haven't seen that particular officer since... On the flipside, I've had plenty of experiences with the police that were the total opposite. I've had plenty of good conversations with many of them, and every time I've needed them, they've been there for me, no questions asked. Hell, I know most of my local PD on a first name basis now. I remember one time a couple of friends and I rode our bikes to McDonald's late at night. We couldn't get food because they wouldn't serve us at the drive thru (the inside was closed, it was after 12AM). A minute later a patrol car came in, somehow we got engaged in conversation and the next thing you know, they went around the drive thru in their car and got food for us. So like I said, the way I see it, I think you just have to look at the individual, not the badge. Most people are good with good intentions, some are absolute douches. Such is life.
  12. I have one. Was a top of the line model a couple years back. I bought it because quite frankly I was too lazy to build my own at the time, lol. My experience with it has been overall good, although you're totally right on a few points. Over priced? Absolutely. Poor build quality? I think that's probably more of an individual thing. Overall their quality has gone down a bit since Dell bought em out, and mine had a CPU fan issue almost right out of the box, but other than that, in my experience, this has been a pretty solid machine. I leave my tower on pretty much 24/7, and have for quite a while now and [knock on wood] it hasn't done me wrong yet. Some kind of medal? Not really sure what you mean by this, but I can assure you mine isn't made out of platinum or something crazy like that. Doesn't last long? Like I said earlier, running nearly 24/7, 365, mine hasn't had a single bad eff up yet, and I've had this for at least 3-4, maybe even 5 years now. Motherboard compatibility? I've upgraded a couple things here and there without a hitch, I found my tower was laid out quite nicely actually. You can DEFINITELY build a better computer for cheaper, you just have to know what you're doing to an extent. Customer support? Never really had to deal with them much, but I've heard of a lot of bad experiences with them, so I wouldn't doubt it. I think that's another thing that can be traced back to the Dell takeover. Anyway, just my two cents...
  13. I dunno about that... The one on the left looks a bit different, specifically around the 'bulb'.
  14. Awesome! This is absolutely PERFECT! Now I can officially rate it 5/5. I just passed one of these about 10 minutes ago... Here's the edited lighting setups for anyone that's interested. There's a clear lightbar class file as well as a red and blue emissive texture and a modified version of the original emissive texture with the red rear lights changed to orange. None of this would be possible without Cj24's EXCELLENT els mapping. This should really become standard for new models... http://www.mediafire.com/?jj23ayjcq5flvtk

  18. @Cj24: Me and Ridgerunner have been talking about this via PM, and I'll tell you the same analysis of that video that I gave him... "I can totally understand why you guys saw that as red. What you see in the video is a result of artifacts being created from the video compression used to upload it. If you stop it at certain frames, the orange color shows through, but at other frames, it appears red because of how the YouTube compressor interpreted and subsequently presented the data it was given. I'm sure if you looked at the raw footage the orange color would be much more apparent. How do I know this, you may ask? Well, coincidentally, I work as a camera guy/film and tv producer for a living (Hence the CG in my name)." As EMT401022 noted, I can say with a fair amount of certainty that what you saw was just a bad video of the standard NYSP traffic advisor. Again, no big deal, but it is what it is. I've edited the emissive textures contained in the .wtd to represent the TA in the back with orange lighting, as well as the emerglights texture for a clear lightbar/red and blue emissive setup. If you're cool with it, I'll go ahead and upload them to Mediafire or something for everyone. :)
  19. @Ridgerunner Interesting. If you don't mind, could you maybe PM the video you went off of to me? I'm quite curious to see it as I've never seen a [marked] NYSP Tahoe with reds in the windshield. I'm not doubting you, you should see some of the stranger variants I've seen around here. I once saw an NYSP CVPI with the same setup as the typical slicktop, but with the addition of a standard issue Liberty on the roof, for example. As far as lighting goes, I haven't looked through the .wtd yet, but are the lights mapped individually, as they were on Cj24's previous LCPD vehicles? That mapping setup is the smartest thing I've seen implemented on a model thus far. K-9 version, eh? I'm intrigued! Though, admittedly, looking through BxBugs' catalog has made me kind of sick of K-9's, lol. Of course, I respect the decisions that go into producing a model like this. By no means take this as an attack on the work you guys have put in. Speaking of which, nice skins man! Love the detail in the reflective stripes. I ought to see if I can't grab some pics/vids of the unmarked cars the NYSP has been putting into service around here recently, they've got some wild Xmas tree setups on 'em...
  20. For some reason I'm not able to edit my post, so... EDIT: I have one minor issue with it. I looked at the sky when it was about to rain and I thought I was having an acid flashback or somethin. The sky does some funky stuff right before it rains, haha. Still, 5/5!
  21. Just played with it for a bit. I love it, finally a Tahoe with something other than a Liberty! However, not to look a gift horse in the mouth, might I take a moment to list a couple things perhaps worth noting? 1. Although NYSP Tahoes DO exist with this particular rambar (Setina PB-100), most of them use what looks to be like a Go Rhino, or something similar. (As seen here) This might be something that varies troop to troop, but that's how it is by me and most of the lower NY region. 2. The lights in the rear window are actually supposed to be an orange traffic advisor, not a strip of red primaries. 3. This is just a suggestion - set the rear taillights as wig wags. The real Tahoes alternate as seen in this video. Not trying to devalue your excellent work or anything, I'm just a bit of a nitpicker, especially when it comes to vehicles I'm familiar with. I dunno if you have any future plans to update this or not, but I figured I'd leave this here for reference. Thanks for an awesome model man, this was the final piece missing from having a complete NYSP set, and you filled it in quite well!
  22. Excellent. Installed this last night, and not only do the lights look great, but this might be the best ENB setup I've used bar none.
  23. Oh word??? You've just made this New Yorker's day. I just passed a couple of these on my way home, lol.
