  1. Sure mate. The following links may be quite helpful to you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_vehicles_in_the_United_Kingdom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_Police_Service http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_enforcement_in_the_United_Kingdom I found them very useful when I first got into police gaming, and they pretty much describe the basics of how stuff's run. Might be a bit much but just zip right through them and read what interests you. I'll run over some of the basics for you... We have PCSOs over here, which are a bit like citizen officers but they wear a similar uniform to the regular cops. They're pretty useless We don't use 10-codes - just plain english but we do use callsigns based on these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collar_number There are many different departments in the Metropolitan Police Service such as Traffic, CO19 (Armed Police), Robbery Squad (plain clothes officers) and much more... The main patrol cars we use are Incident Response Vehicles (IRVs) like the Vauxhall Astra, and Area Cars like the BMW 3 E90s and Skoda Octavias. The IRVs are used for general response to 999 calls, whereas the Area Cars are more like your "patrol" cars - they get into vehicle pursuits, respond to calls and pull people over. Recently the force has swithced over to battenburg for their latest units but still alot of current vehicles are used that have the old red-striped "Jam Sandwich" pattern on the side of their cars Many officers now have a Taser equipped with them which they can use in sticky situations. I'm sure there are some British police officers on here that might be able to explain more. I always find them fine to use if a suspect pulls out a gun though (being it's just a game) In police pursuits, it's pretty much everything goes and anything is used though only Traffic and Area Cars may peform special manuvers like the TPAC. You can get police vans chasing after stolen cars if they're the only police vehicle in the area... but ideally they like Traffic and Area Cars to engage in them, so usually they'll take over when they're avaliable We don't put dangerous criminals in the back of our cars like you do in the US - we use special Ford Transit vans called "cage vans" or "station vans" (because every police station has them). Sometimes we do put them in the back of the cars but only when they're compliant and there always has to be another officer sitting in the back with them On some of the mods, I describe the basic roles of the different police vehicles so keep an eye out on the readmes... I used to write a list of vehicles and their uses in the first version of the Met Police Car Pack - I've got them archived and I'll attach the file if you're interested Nice to see you going British, it's quite fun but you won't be getting into as many shootouts unless you're CO19... however we do run things a bit differenty so it's a nice change EDIT: If you want a basic run of the police vehicles I've attached a file called "LAYOUT" - it's from the older version of the Met Police Car Pack before I removed it because I assumed most people knew it already. But if you're curious it's good to know what vehicles do what in your game....

Metropolitan Police-style skin for LCPDFR's in-vehicle Police Computer (MDT). Tired of logging in with the same American "LCPD" police computer? Feeling like it doesn't fit in with your games? Well look no further as here's the FIRST EVER BRITISH SKIN FOR THE LCPDFR POLICE COMPUTER! You don't have to feel like a noob using the MDT while recording with fraps anymore... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3YeRkUIAyI There are TWO versions for the LCPDFR computer: - one with the "Working together for a safer London" slogan, or - one with the new "TOTAL POLICING" one. This mod also replaces the vanilla police-computer with a Metropolitan Police-themed one. - N.B. The real ones used by the Met look rather bland (windows 95 style), and wouldn't fit in with LCPDFR's menus so I thought I'd create a fictional one based on what the Met might use in the near future. Unfortunately the gold writing in the vanilla computer cannot be changed, but this is still better than nothing.
  2. HAH they're called interceptors lol...
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24MZ4OggLTI (Alternative download @4Shared) Did try to make one, but the model's quite high poly so I had to leave it out for now. The police version run fine though. Thanks guys as for that Beacat I can consider it...

  4. Thanks all and this is the Met-Sound siren mate, I've already made one (click on my logo to see my downloads) but this is the updated version which I may release soon. New video up - this one's the unmarked one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUSAhljd4XY
  5. YouTubes been playing up recently. Nothing we can do about it unless we wait.
  6. A better game-engine means better mods - now there are more stuff we can build upon, we don't have to worry about the other stuff.
  7. car.defaultlight.emissive.on in the visualSettings.dat is the only value you'll ever need to edit. You might have to set it to 50, or even 1000, depending on your ENB. Trial and error will help you determine which value is best.
  8. Hey guys, I've been working on a new WIP Met Police Zafira Mk1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXTU0gZOxZ4 It's based on the the ones used by the real Met. This is the full-length lightbar version, but there's going to be a compact lightbar one as well. Here's some pictures of the real thing: There are some minor differences, but they are different - I based my version off the 2003 one which had an improved aerial setup and minor changes to the reflective stickers. There's going to be DPG and regular skins included and also an unmarked version, with a detachable magnetic roof light. 3/10/2013 - Finished it - download the pack below:

  13. YES! I'm gonna love using these when I get my vanilla GTA 4 back up...
  14. I would rather like to see higher emphasis on the MDT in-game. A real-time crime map would be great, where you could choose which crime to respond to, just like the "Incident Menu" - and the incident has a "preffered unit" that it would want to respond - e.g. a van full of officers, a traffic unit or just a standard IRV. This would add a more professional "modern policing" feel to the game and less of a "baggy shirts, overweight donut loving lazy cop" feel that so many of us despise. Back on subject: Investigations would be another good emphasis, e.g. someone reported robbery but no one is there, and you have to look around - and there is a small chance that there is a gang waiting to jump out on you (we could have an option to make them armed or unarmed, for us UK policing users as well). This would encourage the player teaming up with partners, be it AI or human in MP putting more emphasis on urban policing, which is much more satisfying and faithful to the original Liberty City setting. This should be optional by preference so the user isn't forced to team up if they don't want to use the AI. There is a bug with the MDT in-game where no buttons show up, and the MDT has no possible way of being closed - not even with "reloadscripts". Please add a hotkey to delete the overlay in the next version - we don't want to restart our whole game because of that bug. Also please keep the ability for us to reskin it - it would be great to still be able to have Metropolitan Police, LAPD and NYPD MDTs in-game. Longer and rarer missions could be optionally added if the user wishes by .ini with a low probability chance of happening, providing a more satisfying feel and sense of completion.
