  1. Haha, good catch. It's been a long week
  2. on the longest stretch, even the best defense attorney would have trouble getting a jury to connect the son and his father bering shot.
  3. 25 to life?? Holy shit! That's overkill big time! Did he murder somebody?? Jesus. At most it should be a couple months in a juvenile detention center. Yeah, that website is satirical.
  4. No religion has their hands clean of extremism, except maybe Judaism(?). Muslims had Jihads, and Christians had Crusades, and some would argue the inquisition. Those, to me at least, are all forms of radical ideology. I'll admit I'm not extremely well versed in Jewish history, but I want to say they did something in biblical times.
  5. Police also have a history of having good firearms training. Look at all the clean shoots to bad ones. Just saying.. All we're doing right now is highlighting negatives and not acknowledging the positives.
  6. That's what I've been saying as well. The camera man should have been behind the police, not anywhere where he could have been caught by crossfire, let alone the police's bullets.
  7. From similar documentaries I've watched a few years ago, I belive extremist Islam comes from the belief, that even Christianity shares, that "all non believers will die/perish/suffer/go to hell/etc." they've twisted that into justifying these horrible acts they perform. I believe all fundamental extremist Islam came from that way back in the 80s(?). The sad thing is, the moderate Muslim groups and tribes and villages are disappearing. Soon radical Islam will be the only Islam. What bothers me is when 5 year old kids say they want to blow themselves up for the cause. That disturbed me greatly, and shows the F'd up mindset of these groups. But always thank 'Murica for that. We gave them weapons and training and leadership during the Cold war originally. These groups all originated from that.
  8. First let me start off by saying that since it seems that, yet again, the US is going to be involved in the Middle East for a while because of decisions made my somebody who forgets he works for the people not the other way around. With that being said, I prefer to be educated about our enemy so I have a genuine reason to hate and despise them, not just mindlessly hate them like some media outlets want us to do. This video is a documentary about the Islamic Militants and shows their warped ideology and the hold they have over the region. It is an inside view on the group. There is nothing graphic although there is one scene that cuts away a second before an execution. However this is obviously disturbing subject matter, so please be smart about viewing this and know your limits. I post this for those that would want to learn about their psychology and ideology (albeit warped). I'm not advocating anything, this is purely for informative purposes. Don't start posting racist or hateful comments. Keep it civilized.
  9. Personally, I believe children (under the age of 13) shouldn't be shooting anything more powerful than a .22. Physically they're not developed enough to actually be able to handle recoil of a gun (scared or not), and most children aren't mentally ready to understand gun safety. It's like all those videos of a petite 5'3 girl shooting a Remington 12 g. The physique is just not there, but more so in a child. I fully blame the parents and instructor. He at least starts her off by just allowing her to shoot a single shot. But then the idiot decides, "she obviously can handle fully automatic, with NO stock". I'm sorry, and may the guy Rest in Peace, but he was an idiot to do this. Like the asshole that is letting her shoot this.
  10. Psychopaths live among us, and we'd never know it. I'd be willing to bet he shares those characteristics.
  11. It's incredibly expensive to have qualifications multiple times a year. Plus even the most intense qualifications don't train trigger discipline. Until you have live adrenaline rushing through your veins looking down the barrel of your gun at somebody aiming back at you, not knowing how many there are, is totally different. Training helps, but doesn't prevent it. Plus the whole "Copa work as a team" mentality doesn't help. If one coo starts shooting all the other cops with open fire as well. It's an unfortunate accident. Training only lessens the chance.
  12. There is a serious lack of training in firearms for law enforcement across the board. Their qualifications are so basic, and as OP said, with no stress. Plus additional quals happen less than 3 times a year. Hell I qualify once a year! I'm the last defense of our air bases, and we only qualify once a year under no stress! That's ridiculous. Of course I regularly shoot on my own time, but I'm significantly better than those that don't practice on their own. But then again I feel something is wrong with what happened in the story. Normally the cameramen are to be behind the police if shots are being fired. Not in front or to the side where there's even a remote chance of being struck.
  13. As someone posted above, they must follow guidelines to sentencing. If I recall correctly, for most crimes there is a "range" of time to be served, left to the presiding judge's discretion. Depending on the charges the prosecutor presses, there may be an absolute minimum the judge must give you that is set by the commission. That is normally reserved for more heinous crimes and/or repeat offenses. Although it's HIGHLY unlikely that you'd serve the full sentence unless the circumstances are incredibly heinous, or you're a repeat offender. Depending on the stipulations of your sentence, you may get 1.5 days served for every actual day you're incarcerated, or you can "work" to get time shaved off, or like mentioned above for good time. Or the fact that our prison facilities are a complete joke and overcrowding is more than an issue and we'll parole you as long as we're sure you won't put a knife in a guys neck just for looking at you wrong.
  14. At least Munch still comes in occasionally. I just miss Stabler. He channels the inner rage I feel when they confront a kiddie rapist or child pornographer. He brought that real life explosive anger than about everyone is bound to feel. Plus he's just a badass. I rarely watch the newer seasons.
  15. End of watch wasn't too bad, but like someone pointed out, it give off a bad vibe about police. Law and Order (I prefer SVU with Det. Stabler. Who doesn't wanna see a kiddie rapist get thrown into a vending machine?). Also, Lie to Me isn't bad. It's not about cops, but the cases they solve usually involve law enforcement. Plus it is all based on real science. Think of it as like Sherlock Holmes of your face and micro-expressions.
  16. I prefer my John Deere American Farmer. Pro Strats' are needed in that RTS game. I even hear it's entering the competitive scene....
  17. I have nothing against that. It's good. I'm referring to the number of threads he's created about negative stories. It's not of any observation.
  18. This topic got railroaded... Although I agree. You seem to be the pessimist.
  19. Pink Flamingos. Thank me later.
  20. If this turns out to be a clean shoot, Ferguson will never be at peace. There will be absolutely no relationship between police and community. On a personal note, is love to read each and every one of their faces when they announce it as a clean shoot (if it indeed was).
  21. Like c13 said, it's background. You have no idea who the speaker is. It'd be a long shot, but there's a slim possibility for it to be admitted as hearsay. But it's too unreliable. For all we know it could have been audio edited in after the video was taken (unlikely).
  22. The video that was posted above showing the crime scene and the initial shock, sheds a lot of light on the situation. The full 10 min video (uncensored) is on LiveLeaks homepage, in case anyone's interested. But at that moment in time, people are freaking out and scared and shocked. People done have time to make up statements of what they supposedly saw. The man he strikes up a conversation with about what happened is almost identical to what the officer reports. When your emotions and adrenaline are pumping from what just happened, it's likely only the truth is coming out. Unfortunately it's not admissible in court.
  23. As long as there's a want for the drug (THC), people will find ingenious ways to use it. Personally I don't care much for drugs like THC to be aggressively prohibited. There's hardly any negative effects of it, at least the equivalent of alcohol. It's meets the criteria of mala prohibita. The only reason we look down on it, is Becasue we've been conditioned to since we were born. There's a reason indigenous peoples have used it and similar drugs. It's hard to "abuse" Marijuana, but it is possible Just like alcohol. I'd be asking that question of Crack cocaine, meth, etc. Those are engineered drugs that SOMEBODY decided to make it and somebody decided to melt it down and inject it. Or snort it. Or smoke it.
  24. After a shooting your adrenaline is pumping like crazy, which is why you could conceivably brush off severe pain like that. That's why in the military during firefights, a soldier may be shot in a non-critical area, but not feel anything due to his adrenaline levels. That's just a theory I'm offering. And by medical evidence, I was referring to the officer saying that he was attacked prior to the shooting, which would explain the fracture. There's still more investigating to to be done however. In a personal note, the more we start doubting facts from experts that we are supposed to trust (MEs, federal investigators not connected to the event in question, etc) Then where does it stop? It opens up the floodgates for a plausible defense when the accused can just call in to question the "experts" findings. Like it or not we have to accept their findings unless there's definitive (beyond a shadow of doubt) proof that contradicts. Not because "The medical examiner is connected to the Ferguson PD, therfore they can't be trusted".
  25. Here's some new facts coming out. I wouldn't call the site completely unbiased, but facts are facts. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/08/breaking-report-po-darren-wilson-suffered-orbital-blowout-fracture-to-eye-socket-during-encounter-with-mike-brown/ And I was waiting for you to post... Have you read some of the new facts coming out of the investigation? There is now a lot of support building for the officer. Witnesses are now corroborating the officers story. Medical evidence is confirming his story.
