  1. That's the Bathurst 1000 race, cracking event, it's uploaded in full on the official V8 Supercars YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNDlbLpsb0g The Mercedes team is not a full works team yet, however Nissan provides full backup for the teams driving Nissan's. Both models are doing well considering they're running their first season in V8 Supercars V8SC changed the regulations to this season and one team opted for the Merc and Nissan entered with factory built cars, Holden and Ford is still in the sport with full works team and support to private teams.
  2. I don't understand the logic behind that as I'd only buy a gun legally because other people are legally allowed to buy guns, I think a lot of people who live in places where guns aren't commonplace sees it like this, your chances of being the victim of a gun crime is so low here because guns are so harshly controlled and punished when encountered. Contrary to most people around me (and probably on here too), I have shot with both a pistol and a MP5, I have also trained tactical entry with police, you need substantial training in order to respond correctly when pointing a gun at someone. You may say that it was only training, however I were briefed, geared up with a 12 kg vest, helmet and goggles, everything was as they do in the real world, the only difference was that the firearm I were using fired training rounds (paint), the gun in question was a modified Heckler and Koch USP compact, I have also fired the real version. You forget everything about it being training once you kick the door open and someone fires a blanks at you, you just fucking try to put an end to it. We'd potentially have many injuries or deaths if several people on scene were armed, most of their shots would have missed and potentially hit one of the hundreds of bystanders. There had been no reason to shoot the two assailants in London had they not charged police, police wouldn't have shot them if they surrendered, however they would have been shot dead if civilians on scene were armed as they are not trained to risk assess.
  3. This will also have serious impact on one of the best touring car series currently running, the V8 supercars, nobody know what's going to happen with FPR or DJR, this could mean even more job losses for Australia.
  4. Going by the witness accounts: The suspects first hit the guy with the car, that could easily have prompted the first 999 calls, it's a busy street so expect anywhere from 5-30 calls at this point. Then, as far as I know, it is unknown how long after this the suspects exited the vehicle and approached the victim, it could have been seconds or it could have been minutes. All while more people are calling 999. 999 calltakers are busy with the influx of calls, they need a bunch of details before they can hang up and go onto the next call. Keep in mind that there's other 999 calls coming in regarding other incidents at the same time. It is not always easy to get information from people who are or have just witnessed a serious incident. At one point they begin to further assault the male with bladed articles, one of which looks like a meat cleaver. This is unknown to the police control room unless someone calls 999 again. Their response changes completely once they are informed of weapons being involved, they have to communicate to the regular officers that are en route that they must not approach the scene as well as notify SCO19 along with all the red tape that comes along with this. We don't know where the nearest available ARV was at the time, however it mustn't have been more than a few miles away if it arrived within ten minutes of being despatched. We haven't got a clue what information the control room received so we don't know how they made their decisions, however looking at the thing isolated, I.E an ARV taking ten minutes to arrive seems well within the force guidelines, you cannot expect a specialist unit to be there within two or three minutes of an incident like this.
  5. No, ARV's are despatched to any calls involving weapons immediately, they do not have to wait until beat cops are on scene if the call taker is informed of the presence of a weapon. The first 999 call came in at 14:20, ARV's were despatched at 14:24, the first cops arrived on scene at 12:29, according to you the order of that should be reversed. There's only two reasons for why ARV's were despatched four minutes after the initial 999 call, either they mention anything about the cleaver or there was a failure of communication somewhere within the Metropolitan Police.
  6. ARV's are despatched to any calls where there's a weapon (bladed articles and firearms) involved, that's why I'm confused as to why it took them four minutes to despatch armed units to this call.
  7. The last time Denmark suffered the loss of an officer as a result of the actions of a suspect was in 1995, a motorcycle officer from my hometown was shot dead by a bank robber in Århus. Saying that giving cops guns will increase gun crime is outright wrong. Our cops were armed in the sixties, however we have not seen any kind of "explosion" in gun crime after that. Only recently have we seen an increase in gang activity (and thus gun crime), however this isn't the result of the police, but due to our social policies failing, those who are carrying firearms are involved in gangs, they carry firearms because the other gangs carry firearms and not because the police carry weapons. Last month officers had to shoot a suspect following a bank robbery, the suspect pulled a weapon on the officers and their only cause of action was to use their weapons to subdue the suspect. Two officers did come under fire two years ago in a vehicle pursuit, however the suspects were Romanian criminals on tour, they were not Danes or anyone who is a part of our society. Police officers run towards danger and they should be properly equipped to deal with what they may encounter. You may arrive at a burglary call only to find that the suspects are armed. There's no time for ARV's to arrive if this happens, you are at the mercy of the suspects at this point, you have no way of defending yourself. The UK saw the loss of two officers in Manchester last year, they responded to a burglary call, but were confronted with a armed suspect who threw one or more grenades at the officers, they had no way to defend themselves. Last year the Met also saw several officers sustain serious injures as they were mauled by a attack dog, the attack only stopped several minutes later when armed officers could shoot the dog. Most Danish officers won't have to draw their firearm in their time and even fewer will have to fire their weapon. In fact, some of our shootings are to put down injured animals, it was shown last year on a police show where officers from the Færø islands had to put down a wounded sheep after it was struck by a vehicle. It is completely true that firearms cause death for police officers in Denmark by suicide, it seems to be an ever increasing issue that cops take their own lives with their service weapon, however this only underlines the issue of not having a proper support structure of officers who need it.
  8. I'm really, really disappointed that rockstar is giving preorders in-game advantages and special content. I don't want to pay twice the price for the full game, outrageous.
  9. According to local news here police received the first 999 call at 14:20, the first officers arrived nine minutes later at 14:29. At 14:24 Armed Response Vehicles were despatched to the scene, they arrived ten minutes later at 14:34 The only thing here that remotely interests me is why it took four minutes until ARV's were despatched, however it could just as well be a lack of usable information from the callers as it could be a breakdown in communication within the police. Response time once officers were alerted was good.
  10. The men got out of the Vauxhall Tigra and began to strike him several times with the meat cleavers, one witness described it as "two black men who were giving CPR until I noticed that they had meat cleavers in their hands". From the BBC:
  11. Source And here I was just getting used to CO19 after calling it SO19. Alternatively there's the "firearms unit" wiki page One of the UK channels aired a brilliant documentary series based on CO19 a few years ago called CO19 frontline, it's worth watching.
  12. CO19 are the ones using ARV's. There's also the Diplomatic Protection Group, DPG and the Special Escort Group, SEG, they are all armed, however only DPG provides ARV support for CO19 if needed and availeble. DPG protects diplomats in London whereas the Special Escort Group escorts VIP's around the city.
  13. Police were on scene very quickly, however regular beat officers in the UK are unarmed. Tasers are becoming more widespread (to the great despair of many people) however they are not equipped with a firearm. It took officers from the specialist firearms division 20 minutes to get on scene, it would not have been safe for normal officers to approach the two men, it is standard procedure for normal officers to keep their distance until armed officers has cleared the scene. You cannot send in cops who aren't able to safely deal with the call, this could have been a much worse repeat of the officers who were mauled by a dog last year, only replace the dog with two mentally unstable men with meat cleavers and a firearm. One of the suspects charged at a firearms officer and was shot, the second suspect attempted to fire the gun, however the reports I've heard state that the gun malfunctioned and injured the suspect. Police also shot him. The police did what the police could do, I cannot see any way for them to have dealt with it any different given the circumstances. I personally find it disturbing that the first thing that is shown about this is the suspects rambling while they seemingly wait for police to arrive, I have stayed away from the main news networks here as they quite frankly end up circlejerking the same information over and over. I think that incidents like this that does not impact anyone outside of the country should remain as internal news, there's absolutely no reason for why this is global news other than it preaches fear and hatred.
  14. GTA V will be out on PS3 and Xbox 360.
  15. This isn't "playing GTA IV on your phone", all you're doing is remotely accessing your desktop PC from your phone, you're still running GTA IV on your PC.
  16. You create a vehicle configuration file called "police" and set the environment colours to blue for extra_1,2,3 and 4 and edit the entry in ELS.ini for "Police" file from the generic configuration file to "police" and save both files. Then you create a new vehicle configuration file and call it "police2", and set the environment colours to red for extra_1,2,3 and 4 and edit the entry in ELS.ini for "Police2" from the generic configuration file to "police2" and save both files.
  17. So it seems that some people struggle with getting ELS V7 to work, some are experiencing crashing, some can't change the values they want and so on. Here's a quick little guide that may answer your question. My game crashes on start-up: Be sure to check if you have two ASI loaders installed Suggested by cp702 ELS doesn't work on any of my modded cars: Previously you have been able to "plug and play" ELS, that means that you could install ELS V6 and use the default settings without changing anything, that is no longer possible in ELS V7, see the next answers: So what do I do if I want ELS on a car?: Step one: For the purpose of this guide I'll state that we want to enable ELS lights on police2 (the Declasse Merit/Chevy Impala clone) In order to do this you have to open "ELS.ini", the main configuration file located in your GTA IV/EFLC main directory, scroll down to the vehicle list and find police2: Change the status to "on" and leave the file open. Step two is to open the vehicle configuration folder, go to your GTA IV/EFLC main directory and open the folder named "ELS", there's a file called "default_config" by default. Step Three is to copy default_config and rename the new copy to police2 (you can call it what you want, but it's a good idea to keep it simple), open the notepad window that has "els.ini" opened and change the file for "POLICE2" from "default_config" to "police2" Step Four is to set up the vehicle configuration file. I'll recommend that you ignore some of the configuration options until you understand the basics of how you configure ELS. All you need to look at right now is: I'll break it down in three sections. Primary light section Type = leds Defines what lighng type is used on the model. You can chose between LED lights by setting the type to "leds", Strobe by setting the type to "strb" and halogen reflector lights by setting the type to "rota" Check the vehicle model you are configuring and see what type of lightbar your car model has and change it accordingly. "rota" replaces ELS-H, all cars that were previously ELS-h should now be set as "rota" ForceDfltPat = off Defines whether or not the vehicle will have a pattern forced on by default. Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game DfltPatId = 0 Defines the pattern ID for the default pattern if the option is enabled Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game ExpressModeRandPat = off Not relevant right now ForcePatForSrnTones = off Defines whether or not ELS forces a different pattern depending on what siren tone you are using. Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Yelp = 0 Defines the pattern for the yelp siren Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Alt1 = 0 Defines the pattern for the police priority siren Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Alt2 = 0 Defines the pattern for ambulance priority siren Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game Secondary light options: Type = leds Defines the type of secondary lights, you can chose between LED lights by changing it to "leds" directional lights by changing it to "drct", rotating halogen lights by changing it to "rota" DisableAtLstg3 = off Allows you to disable secondary lights by default when in "code 3" mode (third light stage) ForcePatForLstg = off This toggles whether or not a pattern is forced onto the secondary lights depending on what light stage it is at Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Lstg1 = 0 This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 1 Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Lstg2 = 2 This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 2 Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game PatId_Lstg3 = 3 This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 1 Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game Environment light colours: This section defines what colours is reflected on the ground, this option was found in ELS.ini in old versions of ELS Extra_1 = red Extra_2 = red Extra_3 = red Extra_4 = red Extra_5 = white Extra_6 = white Extra_7 = amber Extra_8 = amber Extra_9 = amber You can chose between: RED, BLUE, WHITE, AMBER, GREEN, MAGENTA A typical red/blue lightbar would be configured like this: Extra_1 = red Extra_2 = red Extra_3 = blue Extra_4 = blue Extra_5 = white Extra_6 = white Extra_7 = amber Extra_8 = amber Extra_9 = amber Once you have done this you can save the car configuration file and test it in-game, it should now work. You can edit the file name for other car slots in ELS.ini to use the configuration file we just created or you can create a new configuration file if you want to use a different setup. That is it for now, this will hopefully help you in understand the basics of setting up ELS V7, I'll explain the more advanced options later on when I have a working desktop PC again. Do not PM me for support regarding ELS V7, I do not provide any additional support for ELS apart from this guide, this guide is not a support thread for ELS v7, do not use it as a support thread.
  18. There's a lot of changes to take in, the mod is nothing like ELS V6 As far as car modders is concerned: There's no change in how ELS works for you from V6 to V7, you still need to set up the models the same way, however you can now have secondary lights set up in a rotating pattern as illustrated in the ELS guide. As far as normal users are concerned: All ELS V6 models are compatible with ELS V7. ELS HAS been extensively tested, if it doesn't work for you, then you have made a mistake somewhere in your setup. You now have to customize a bit more than before: You do not have to use the default_config file, you can create a copy of the default config file and rename it to whatever you want as long as you remember to update ELS.ini with the new name. The config file system allows you to extensively customize each vehicle slot, you can create a different vehicle config file for each car model (one for police, police2, polpatrot, pstockade, nstockade, noose, fbi and so on) or you can use the same config file, all you have to do is update the name listed under the vehicle slot in els.ini. It may be a lot to get used to, take your time and learn how it works, I didn't learn it overnight, I had to figure out a lot of it myself with only a brief introduction from Caine. It's not impossible to learn by doing, ELS is fine, it is not released broken in any way, if your game crashes or if it otherwise doesn't work it is because you made a mistake, use the guide and go though your settings and troubleshoot.
  19. New preview!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQx1R2zHWHU
  20. They probably are aware if they blocked (banned) you from their site, it may be a general error, I'm sure someone will let you know if it is a site issue that affects everyone.
  21. As far as I am aware there is no competition, we're not trying to compete with anyone. We're quite proud of the community we have, we want the community to grow and be better than it was before. That's why your statement puzzles me, you used to submit a lot of stuff to us, however you stopped doing this and it seems that you have changed to using your own modding website as the only place you release mods. While yes, we do not allow people to post links to content they submitted to other websites, we also do not require that all content submitted to us is exclusive to LCPDFR, everybody can submit their file to LCPDFR.com and any other modding site theywant, we are happy little flowers as long as the files are not violating the community guidelines. See it from our perspective, we have to keep LCPDFR.com's interests in mind, we gain nothing from allowing people to advertise on our site, it does not benefit us in any way, why would and should we allow it? I know that some modders felt as if their downloads didn't get enough exposure in proportion with the effort they put into it, that was valid concern so we tried to implement some changes, the featured tab on the forum page that now rotates between a few mods so they stay on the front page for longer, the updated "recent downloads" bar on the forum page as well the featured authors in the download section, we're working on a couple more changes, but we certainly feel as if we have done and are continuously taking steps to improve the site while not limiting it for other members, we want a download section that is free for everyone to submit files to. I can completely understand that some people are not interested in this way of running the site, however our users should not expect to use the site as a way attract attention to their content if they are not a part of our community, we don't allow adverts on the site for any other type of advertisement, we have been lenient regarding advertising content released on other modding sites as we knew we had the issues I talked about above, however we certainly feel that the changes we have made has alleviated the concerns that were previously held. I know I can be quite blunt when I talk so please don't take this post the wrong way, I don't intend to attack or be hostile at all, quite the contrary, we're always working on making LCPDFR.com a better place, I know you have me on Steam or you can send me a PM if you wish to talk more about this, at the very least it would help me and the rest of the staff in understanding the way our members view the issue.
  22. The searches did not fall under the exigent circumstances as law enforcement officer must have reasonable suspicion that the suspect is inside the premises they are about to search, this is not covered by "we saw him in the area", however they are suspected of committing terrorism so the cops can pretty much do what they want. Keep in mind that this is probably what it's like to live in a occupied country like Afghanistan or Iraq, this is what they have/had to endure every day, the threat of bomb, scary men carrying assault rifles and driving armoured vehicles though your home town while you try to live a normal life.
  23. Don't make threads with attention-grabbing headlines like the one used here, you also posted this is the wrong section, please play more attention in the future.
  24. It would be possible, but it would mean that every ELS car mod would not work properly with ELS V7. Car modders can easily set up the rear part of the lightbar for only using the extra parts that are used for the secondary lights with the current setup.
  25. I guess it's possible to find a "slow" pattern and set that as a siren tone, the pattern will stay on when you turn off the siren.
