For those of you who are unaware, there is a programme on television called "Police Women of [State]". The reason I format the title like that is because there are multiple different versions in different states in America (I'm not entirely sure why they do that). After watching it, I felt I wanted to share my views. Unfortunately, it was actually quite a while ago, I didn't think to write this topic at the time. Immediately, I have an issue. Police Women? Why police women? Don't we already have documentaries in this style on... the general police force in America (and other countries), anyway? It feels like someone made it for the sake of "equality" - but it's not, because we already have gender neutral programmes about the police that show both men and women in the force. They may show more men than women... but I'm fairly certain that's because there are a larger number of men with this job. Hell, why not go one step further and get rid of shows like "Cops" and replace them with "Police Men of [State]"? That way, we're all nice and segregated off... for equality. Now I want to discuss something I saw in one of the episodes that bugged me. Because it's been a while since I watched it, I can't remember everything very well, so my apologies for hazy details. The officer is called to somebody with a weapon. They enter the house, and identify the one guy there as the one with the weapon. Not sure how, but maybe a description was given. As I said, hazy details. So she's talking to him. At one point, he refers to her as "babe". Obviously, that's not an appropriate word to refer to a stranger with, let alone a police officer. However. Her reaction is not appropriate for her job. She immediately gets visibly angry, telling him "Don't call me babe! You refer to me as 'officer'! Would you call a male officer babe?" Well, no, he probably wouldn't. But he might call them things like... pig. Asshole. Shithead. Any number of insults. 'Babe' isn't even an insult, she's getting off lightly in the verbal abuse thing here. I'm fairly certain that she grab him while telling him not to call her this. It's a bad idea to allow yourself to react badly to something, especially if it's something that bugs you. If they're a criminal, or just don't like the police, knowing what makes you angry can be a pretty useful tool, because people don't think as rationally when angry. Of course, he calls her it again. I don't remember exactly what happens, but eventually he's arrested - for the weapons charge, I hope - not for calling her babe. But yeah. Self-control is important as a police officer. People can be annoying, especially when met with someone who has the legal duty to arrest and detain them if they've done something wrong. If you let these things work you up, it can make a bad situation worse, just with words. So that's my thoughts on "Police Women of [State]". There are things I missed - for instance, I vaguely remember an episode where prostitutes were dealt with in some way. I really wish I could remember how it went, because I think it had problems just like the one I do remember, and discussing it would be interesting. Sure. GTA IV is, to put it nicely, not the best PC port in the world. I'm sorry to hear you have issues with it. I'll always be here. Waiting. Watching. WAITING. WAITING.

Don't give up hope. Lt.Caine said "soon" in August. Perhaps we'll have it by the end of the year. Maybe you can do what I did, and play GTA IV/EFLC with ELS IV? (If you have IV/EFLC).

So, because of the long wait for ELS V, I decided to, yet again, install GTA IV. This time, I've installed EFLC, and completed the story of both TBOGT and TLAD - using TBOGT for mods. I cannot get this to work correctly. If I change car.defaultlight.emissive.on to anything but 10, the lights go white. The visualsettings supplied with ELS does not work, editing the default file to change the value does not work, it always ends up making the lights white. I've tried deleting the visualsettings in the TBOGT folder and using the one in the main EFLC common/data folder, but that just produces the same result. UPDATE: I was informed that the default timecyc files in EFLC do not support emissive settings being changed. So I searched on the site, found that "CryENB" contains a timecyc file, and installed that. It makes my screen fade to black (minimap still there) when I exit my safehouse. I have the feeling this is because I am not using it with the ENB. Where can I get a timecyc file that does not include an ENB? UPDATE 2: Well, I downloaded a timecyc that simply "improves ELS lighting" and that did the trick. Problem solved, I think. If anyone else ever has this problem and doesn't know how to fix it hopefully this thread can help them in some way. Please can somebody help me? Edit: Screenshot Edit 2: Is this even how ELS lights should look, even with an emissive value of 10? These don't look right. Is there something wrong with my game?

There isn't really much point in using EVL anyway, since it's very basic the lighting looks kinda weird. I tried using it, but it just didn't feel... ELS...y... enough. In other, more off topic news (because why not) I reinstalled EFLC yesterday. This time, I'm gonna try to play through all the game before modding it. Maybe that'll make it more stable? Haha. Doubt it. Worth a try though, and I might as well play the game that I bought's story. To make this comment on-topic again (and prevent the mighty moderators from smiting me), maybe ELS IV will tide me over? That was the plan last time I tried reinstalling just GTA IV itself, and it didn't work out. Because crashes.

So where'd you get EVL from? Or are you using an old version that you happened to grab before it became unavailable? I tried using it, but it wasn't at a stage where I felt I wanted to use it properly, then updates on it seemed to just stop.

Isn't EVL dead? I searched for it in files and only cars are left, one is by Xplicit but it seems they've had their account deactivated.

mp4 is a video file, you need to convert them to .mp3 or some other audio format. You can do that with Audacity if you have the video reading codec, it's somewhere in the settings to download it if you don't have it, then you just drag the mp4 files into Audacity (one by one) and export as an audio format.

I second the above question. It'd be nice to know these things, if at all possible.

You could always use carcols to imitate it, as long as the pattern looks right it could work. But that's a great suggestion. Although it possibly shows our insane and un-satiated need for ELS.

Hnnng, don't remind me of the amount of time we've waited... I'm really surprised I haven't had a nightmare yet which starts out with a police car all decked out in ELS lighting pulling up, reflections everywhere, and then suddenly a calender appears on the bonnet (hood), flipping first through days quite slowly and then starting to rapidly increase, as weeks turn into months and the seasons change, snow falls on the car, then a thaw, then... well, something that indicates summer, as that car sits there taunting me with its beautiful lights. ...I should not have just planned out a nightmare. I bet that's going to happen to me now.

Lt.Caine posted in this topic semi-recently, a few pages back. Not sure exactly how many. But yeah, G17 has been quiet. That's not too bad though, because LSPDFR works as is. I bet they're working hard on new features, though, and just don't want us to get hyped too soon.

ELR is nothing to do with ELS, sorry. ELS is Emergency Lighting System, and it's not released yet. Please make a comment on Emergency Lighting Revolution's file for support.

Don't panic, we aren't. It's all mere speculation. It'd just be great if it did happen to release sooner than we expect it to.

You'll need a modelling tool. I'm pretty sure zModeller3 is what most people use, but it costs money. Check tutorials on YouTube.
