That is what Gradient is. It fades the colours into one and other.

Click on the palette, and drag all around until you hit yellow. Black should already be there by default.

In Paint.NET. I would just select all the text, by using the Magic Want tool and either press Ctrl, or Shift (Can't remember) when you want to add more to the same selection. After that, just use the Gradient tool normally. For the Outline part, if you have Plugins installed, most likely there is one. Since I have only experimented with 2 of them, I am not sure which one you have, so I can't give you an appropriate answer on how to use the Outline tool. Just test it out. If it doesn't work, press 'Ctrl+Z'.

There is no legal free version of Photoshop. You will have to buy it. If you can't, GIMP is a worthy alternative.

I would trace it out with tiny lines. What I mean is go around the perimeter creating new lines for every side. Later, just fill it in with the Bucket tool and fix any imperfections.

I like the Windows OS a lot. The reason I went away from it was because of the small number of apps in their app store. I really like the colours, and the phones that have Windows OS on it.

Well, for Apple, 'S' stands for stupid. Just kidding, many say it stands for 'speed', or 'second edition', though there is no clear answer given by Apple. I'm pretty sure the 'S' in the S4 and others, stand for Samsung. I am not positive, though.
