  2. I've solved my problem. After a clean install it appears that you MUST use the scripthook, advancedhook, and dsound.dll included with ELSV8; the ones that come with LCPDFR are not compatible and will crash the game if used when ELS V8 is installed.

  8. Have you ever been to New York City? The pedestrians are oftentimes the most oblivious, idiotic people you'll ever encounter. They will dart into traffic into the path of oncoming vehicles, they'll completely disregard all signals, they will stare at their cellphones as they wander out into the roadway, and jaywalking is considered a way of life. You simply cannot stop the crowds on such a short notice; it is nearly impossible. To my knowledge you are correct. Things have gotten better over the years though; I read that in the 1970s and 1980s they didn't even have partitions separating the front and back seats of an RMP! 1) A bigger problem to bystanders would be the individual with the knife lunging at the crowd IMO. Stopping the threat is stopping the threat, plain and simple. 2) The same could be said about the general public. A large, vocal majority of citizens in NYC are completely anti-cop; the media circuses seem to only focus upon negative incidents that the NYPD is involved in as well. It is difficult for officers to not treat things as an "us vs. them" scenario when the people complaining about it turn around and do the exact same thing. As the saying goes; it takes two to tango. 3) Managing anything when large numbers and complete chaos are involved isn't exactly straightforward. I can say that I'm glad that the NYPD has the capability to flood any area with officers at any given moment; it certainly makes a citizen such as myself feel a bit better about walking in moderate/high-crime areas. There will always be alternative outcomes to events; changes in actions that could have been made in order to receive a more favorable ending. What's done is done, and the fact that no bystanders were injured/killed is good enough in my book. [Also, isn't this incident nearly two years old now?]

  12. It's good to see more cars with the Streethawk on them. :D
  13. Remove all of its components. If I recall correctly, that includes the ELS folder, ELS.ini, and ELS.asi. They can be found in the root folder of GTA IV. Then, bring in the new files from V8 and overwrite files when prompted to.

  15. Congrats! I don't use xlive.dll or its related files so I can't uninstall them to see if that works, ha. When I get a chance I'll see if I have any luck with a fresh install. The one time that ELSV8 did work it was fantastic though. The improved rotating lights and environment lighting really does make a difference, as does the ability to open doors and have vehicle damage.
  16. I did not see that P.S. before. There's your problem.
  17. I'm having similar issues, detailed in >this thread. Out of curiosity, could you post your scripthook log in a spoiler tag?
  18. It's an honor to be stuck in the same, sinking boat as you, Murphy. xD Curiously enough, for a single time I was able to play GTA IV and LCPDFR with no problems while ELSV8 was installed. It was fantastic, might I add. After I quit and restarted to see if this was an isolated incident, the game promptly crashed in the spot that it did previously; while driving right before passing the Broker police station. Here's my Advancedhook log for comparison. The scripthook log no longer gives me the "VehStructInstance" error; only the more recent "thread instance is being deleted while still hooked" error.
