For thermal paste, look at Arctic Silver 5, top stuff. For CPU cooling, look at the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, nice and cheap and very effective, make sure it'll fit in your case though, it's pretty big. What brand power supply do you currently have?

No, no, that's perfectly fine. By max, it means max for this particular session. It's so you can find the highest and the lowest temps that were reached during a certain period of time. Your whole setup is running at a nice and low temperature. It's certainly not temps that are causing your problems. Take a look in your event viewer around the time of the shutdown and see what stands out.
