  1. Demo cars are cool, reality is 90% of squad cars leave upfitters with maybe a third to a half of their functions disabled, or simply not hooked up. I'm a fan of the CanTrol system in the applications I've seen them in.
  2. Marc LaQuon Payne was a self described New Black Panther.
  3. For those who want the actual numbers, here's the Michigan State Police's 2016 Police Vehicle Evaluation. MSP is considered the premier agency in the US on testing PD vehicles. http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/2016_MY_Police_Vehicle_Evaluation_Test_Book_516080_7.pdf
  4. The CVPI was gonna die. It was a 30 year old platform, and it simply couldn't keep up with CAFE and modern safety standards. The current Ford offerings do. Don't get me wrong, I like CVs, I've owned 5 Panther platform cars. But blame the government, not Ford, for killing the car. You give me anecdotal evidence based on personal observation, but if 60%+ PD sales are going to Ford, it tells me a lot of what is actually out there on the road.
  5. Que? As I already noted, Ford has basically recovered its market share that the CVPI used to hold. Linky poo
  6. Ford currently has just over 60% of the police market in the US. Far more than their competitors.
  7. Meh, I had a long winded argument, but I'll boil it down. I do not support gun control, particularly at a federal level. I work in LE, and I cannot think of any of my co-workers who don't feel the same.
  8. <------------------------------ Law Enforcement. I don't have an issue with civilian gun ownership, be it "assault weapons" or what have you. Nor any of my co-workers. Many of us are hobbyists in our own right. The gun control argument is just an distraction.
  9. Weekly thing? Please. The attacks on LE and the anti-LE rhetoric flying around right now isn't something that has been seen before. Even in the 60s and 70s, attacks on LEOs were not that brazen.
  10. The Turkish Military has always been the protector of the secular Turkish government. (as written into their Constitution). As Ergodan as not only been providing backdoor support to radical Islamist groups in Syria and Iraq, he has been moving Turkey towards a more religious Islamist government. Personally, if the coup is there to protect the traditionally secular Turkish Constitution and Government, I hope it succeeds.
  11. Most "Sovereign Citizens" are losers who gain their knowledge from watching youtube videos and hanging around like minded idiots. Now, there is a core of these folks, who one can call "true believers." They use the ideas as a front for committing financial and tax fraud, who do have have a extreme disdain for the government and those who represent it. Those are the ones who will kill law enforcement. [youtube] [/
  12. Nothing new. Anytime you put on the uniform of a public servant, you can become a target of that same public. A lot of FD's and EMS services in major metro areas are already starting to issue ballistic vests to their personnel. Just saw a news link a few days ago that Savannah GA is possibly considering their FD and EMS to have the option to arm themselves. http://www.wtoc.com/story/32211052/savannah-prepared-if-tragedy-strikes
  13. Minimum hiring standards don't mean anything. They only show you the minimum legal qualifications for the job. If you don't have anything on your application that makes you stand out, and/or know anybody at where you are applying, your resume will be just another one added to the "no" pile. I know it's harsh, but it's true.
  14. <-------- Corrections Deputy. Corrections is a good start. Your "customers" in a jail are going to be the same customers on the street. You will learn how to talk to people. (Or wash out or get hurt...) Some of the best road guys I know got their start working on the inside. Departments do like the inside experience. However, some places will hesitate to hire you if you're just looking to make corrections a stepping stone, and you may have a hard time gaining trust/respect among your co-workers if they know you are just looking to jump ship as soon as possible. Every state is different, local corrections (county level) here in MI, I'm a sworn Sheriff's Deputy. Some places you don't have that same status.
  15. Report writing sucks. Even just basic statements... I can't believe people would want to roleplay that lol.
  16. Law Enforcement should not be used in place of bad parenting. Also, using LE to discipline(see: scare) a developing child is a good way to set that kid up to mistrust LE for a long time to come.
  17. If found that they acted in violation of department policy, they should be punished in accordance of department guidelines and guidelines of their collective bargaining agreement.
  18. Even if the officer(s) violated department policy, policy violations do not equal criminal charges. Civil? Yes. Criminal? No.
  19. Those charges = playing politics. If I was one of those officer's I'd demand a speedy trial. I doubt the state has prepared for it at all and are just trying to appease the masses.
  20. NYPD has over 30K sworn members in a city of over 8 million, with a vastly different culture than anywhere in Sweden. Hell, the population of the greater NYC area is more than the entire country of Sweden. I'm not sure how you can compare the two. Overt generalizations don't help either.
  21. The McHenry car was a parade/show car before being pressed back into service. Now it's gonna get the crap beat out of it. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=54961312949&story_fbid=10152760795967950 Local community college to me has a 9C1 for its police academy to use. Has less than 15K miles on it. I'm hoping to buy it when it's auctioned off.
  22. I work Corrections. I work in 72o climate controlled temps inside year round while the road guys are sweating it out under 15lbs of gear in the hot summer or freezing in our all too common blizzards in the winter. And I get free food too.
  23. Lame. It has all the disadvantages of carrying a firearm(size and bulk) with none of the advantages. I'll just stick to carrying my CZ and Glock kthxbye.
