  1. They started with the halogens on their "retro" cars, but over issues with visibility they're switching over to the LED beacons. The halogens only lasted about a year. Saginaw County has done some odd stuff over the years.
  2. They're fast, but they can't shake the reputation of being high maintenance.
  3. lol @ "boot licker." Usually when an argument starts with a personal attack, I know better than to even bother...
  4. I'm not really seeing a difference, besides the obvious like the lighting in the photos and what looks like simple uniform fading from use.
  5. Governments aren't going to buy electric vehicles until their usage and associated costs are low enough over their lifespan to make them a viable alternative to conventional options. Never mind the range issue electric autos face, which is a major factor in rural policing. For as much as the government spends money, it's notoriously cheap as well...
  6. USBP uses Raptors, as well as a few State agencies.
  7. Or how Tasers have nowhere near a 100% effectiveness rate? Never mind the fact that you do not use less-lethal force (Taser) against a deadly weapon. (Knife) But it's obvious from his post he already has made up his mind in regards to this topic.
  8. Whatever fuel savings that will be made, will get ate up by higher maintenance costs and repairs. They also keep throwing around the word "pursuit", but ehh...I'm surprised if it really is pursuit rated. Color me unconvinced. Looks like a gimmick car that some more progressive urban departments are going to get behind and say: "Look how forward thinking we are!"
  9. Amazing that this has turned into a gun control thread... ...oh wait, not really.
  10. I'm sorry, but have you had any real firearm or defensive shooting training or experience? Because that reads like someone that hasn't, to be completely blunt about it.
  11. Pretty much all of those police forces in the OP are all of small, mostly completely homogeneous nations with strong centralized governments. The United States in particular, with its various levels of government, difference in State and Federal control, differences in each individual States and laws there of, and wildly varying social-economic factors, plus untold smaller other factors would prevent a singular federal LE force from ever functioning at any sort of acceptable level. That being said, 1000's of police agencies across the US cooperate and help each other on a daily basis, from local to state to federal level.
  12. It's not about practicability, it's about "status".
  13. If it works for them I guess.
  14. The picture in the OP is just hubcaps over steel wheels. Honestly, any generic dog dish covers would get that look, just get one to fit the wheel size. I saw an early 2000's Ford E-series with those covers just today.
  15. Lol. This moron will find out what a jail cell is like soon enough.
  16. <-------------------- Sworn Corrections Deputy.
  17. Meh. I've already said my piece in this topic but whatever. Most gun crime in the US is Black on Black, in urban centers that traditionally have the strictest gun laws, and done by handguns which are already illegally obtained, illegal in themselves or are otherwise "hot". I'm pragmatic. Firearms to me are nothing but tools, either used for self-defense, hunting, sporting, recreation or whatever else. Doesn't bother me none. This country has millions of firearms, with millions of gun owners, I see no reason to punish and make criminals out of the vast, vast majority of lawful gun owners out there. Change the underlying cultures that lead to criminal intent if you want to change the rate of gun crime. The tool in which the crime was committed with doesn't matter if the intent to commit said act still existed anyhow.
  18. Not a fan of UFO cars. There is a point of it being "too much".
  19. Don't get me wrong, I've owned five Panthers. Nothing lasts forever.
  20. Not only were Crown Vic's sales failing, they just were too old too keep up with modern government regulations on safety, and more importantly, CAFE standards. Ford was going to have to ditch the car eventually anyway. Underneath, the Panther platform was still a 30+ year old car.
