Are there any 1991-1996 Chevrolet Caprices still in service?

Featured Replies

I was talking to a friend about police cruisers and we got to the subject of the 90s caprice. He told me that somewhere in the US, a 90s Chevrolet Caprice is still in service. I was wondering if this is true. If not, can you tell me when the last 90s Caprice was retired?

A couple years back there were a handful of Caprices around here, by a couple of years ago, i mean 2006. They've been run out. LAPD has a parking lot of cars across the street from the air division HQ. Mainly retired CV's. Look worn to hell, though.

you know if any 80s carprices are still in service, if not, do you know when the last one was retired?

Columbus, OH, a few years back, had been recycling 1996 Chevy Caprice's for the Freeway Patrol division. They apparently had just been recycling parts. I believe they were recently phased out though. Heres a pic of one.

My county PD still has a handful of 97 CVPI's in service - marked and unmarked:

Kinda crappy pic, but best I could do for now.

Curiously enough, these Vics have outlived newer Vics and even many of the '04 Impalas.

I dunno where to find Caprices these days, but there's a department in upstate NY somewhere that still runs a '91 'box' CV, equipped with a Liberty and all, in regular service (!!!). I used to have a picture of it, but I lost it. If I find it again I'll post it.

And WOW at those Caprices posted above! I can't believe that Sheriff unit is still in service! It looks brand new too.

The McHenry car was a parade/show car before being pressed back into service.

Now it's gonna get the crap beat out of it.

Local community college to me has a 9C1 for its police academy to use. Has less than 15K miles on it.

I'm hoping to buy it when it's auctioned off.
