  1. MODERATOR NOTICE Moved to Gameplay/Misc Mods. Question: Do you know what class represents another player?
  2. Someone put that on Francis McReary's wall.
  3. False. Look on kcna.kp (the official North Korean news agency's website. They claim their nukes are to counter a US threat, and that the US will be held responsible for the current situation. Whatever sources you're using, they're bad ones. EDIT: Also look on the front of the main portal of the North Korean government: http://www.naenara.com.kp/en/
  4. I don't think so, but I'm not sure.
  5. Don't police copters also patrol around bridges, even if you aren't wanted?
  6. Drdetroit: My post you relpied to was an attempt to get this back to topic (a funny video). Apologies for using the term "idiot", I got carried away. I was acting as though your post was a reply to the video, when it pretty clearly wasn't. Sorry. Faracus: Since I made pretty much that same rant earlier regarding a similar post, I think I pretty much have to excuse your rant ;) K9: That is absolutely horrifying.
  7. Ranks are extremely unlikely, because they are a bad fit for this mod. This isn't an arcade-style mod, and ranks are the classic arcade idea. I want to have whatever equipment I want right off the bat. That's generally how actual police work too - special units might get more gear, but it's not tied to rank at all (a captain is really unlikely to have SWAT gear, because his job is supervisory). Also, with different divisions: This mod is designed to simulate a patrol officer. That's the issue: The devs aren't interested in making you a SWAT guy, or detective, or prison guard. You're a first responder.
  8. Note: If you use Steam, you can verify integrity of local files to reset your game if you mess up with a mod.
  9. OK: the politics people, pay attention: This is a video about airdropping traffic cops. How can you POSSIBLY watch that and think "this is the weakling president"? Is it Obama's fault North Korea has the dangerous ability to put traffic cops to misdirect our supply convoys? Because if you're using this as an example of what's wrong with the US government, you're an idiot. Almost as stupid as the person who decided to make a propaganda video about airdropping traffic cops. Actually - Does anyone speak Korean? Because North Korea had publicly said the umbrellas were for shade. I'm not sure the subtitles are accurate.
  10. Again, what do you think we're already doing? I guarantee you that the US government is spending considerable effort trying to negotiate with North Korea. It's not as easy as "talking to them". They're a sovereign state, not a disobedient child.
  11. Scales: You know we do exactly that, right? Spying? Thermal imaging (which is like Spy Satellites 101)? Negotiation? We do quite a lot of that. The US has invaded too many countries already. If North Korea attacks, then we strike and destroy them. If they don't attack, we shouldn't be the aggressors.
  12. As a general rule, any resource found in a game is likely to be a genericized fictional thing. If they use something from real life, they'll often modify it a bunch to avoid a lawsuit.
  13. What do you think we're doing? Because it's pretty much exactly that.
  14. That is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard on this site, and certainly the most horrifying. NO. We should not use nuclear weapons except in the most extreme possible circumstances, if then. They are at best a necessary evil, for deterrent use. They have only been fired in anger twice, and that was before people really knew the effects. Since WWII, there is a basic rule of nuclear non-aggression. An act of nuclear aggression is one of the worst things that could possibly happen. Best case, millions of innocent North Koreans die (note that this is terrible). Worst case, China doesn't like the use of nukes so near them (which they absolutely would not), and fires in retaliation, and then the world pretty much ends.
  15. GPM links have recently been blocked. Expect to see a post from management soon.
  16. I think it's for the reflections drawn. around the lights. If your vehicle is long and the secondary lights are at the back, it needs to draw those reflections further back to center properly around the secondaries. I'm not totally sure, though.
  17. To address point 3: GTA vehicles are limited to 4 occupants. All vehicles are; even the bus can only carry 4 passengers. To address 1 and 2: That's pretty unrealistic. In routine arrests, you don't continually point a gun at the guy. 4: Maybe, but I don't see the advantage. Most stations don't have doors, so it'd still fade out the criminal.
  18. Just in your signature. Putting it in a post violates the "no advertising" policy (unless you put, say, an LCPDFR video in the Media section).
  19. They need to know why they're arresting you, but I don't believe they need to know the precise charges when they make the arrest (so they may not know if it's a felony or not). Also, again, embezzlement won't normally lead to gunpoint arrest, while a misdemeanor assault would be more likely to.
  20. Everyday patrol officers aren't normally responsible for dealing with that. The riot police exist for a reason. If it gets too out-of-control, it'd be an "all hands on deck" scenario, but that rarely happens (and those scenarios can also get the National Guard or even the Army involved). c13 - Technical point, corrections agencies are often considered law enforcement AFAIK. So LE does get involved, because the COs are LEOs.
  21. "Felony arrest" has surprisingly little to do with felonies. The more term is "high-risk arrest", because it's based entirely on the risk of the arrest (instead of the seriousness of the crime). For example, embezzlement is a felony, but they probably won't put you at gunpoint for it. On the other hand, if someone is assaulting someone else, the responding officer may well bark commands at them, even though assault isn't a felony. Remember, at time of arrest, you have generally not been convicted of any crime, and often haven't even been formally charged. I don't think the arresting officer even needs to have a specific crime in mind - cops aren't expected to memorize the precise details of the law, that's a lawyer's job. Hence why cops don't file charges.
  22. Yay, forensics! (click that link to get why realistic forensic investigations aren't a good game element)
