  1. It's also different whether you like/dislike it and whether you think it should be banned. There are plenty of things that I dislike that I don't think should be illegal.
  2. I don't think that's a good way to decide public policy. If I don't share your religion, I don't see why I should feel bound by its rules.
  3. Good point. That could also let you arrest the guy (just do Alt+P, Ctrl+P when you draw your gun; shoot him if needed, but you can arrest instead).
  4. Every time an ELS light turns on or off, it automatically refreshes and repairs the car. This is part of GTA's code, and can't be fixed by scripters. This applies to all versions of ELS.
  5. There's a difference between people ripping on you for no reason (like "THIS SUCKS!!1!") and people giving actual constructive criticism (like "That font doesn't work there" or "It's a bit overdone"). The first one is an issue. The second one is people who are trying to help you make better skins in the future. The first type of comment breaks the rules, and you can report it. The second is considered a valuable comment.
  6. Exactly. At this point, LCPDFR plays more of a support role in my game. I use PoliceHelper for random world events, and Braveheart's script for callouts, but LCPDFR supplies the actual mechanics to let me *act* as a cop (arrests, backup, pursuits, traffic stops, etc.) LCPDFR turns me into a cop; PoliceHelper and Braveheart's script give me stuff to do while a cop. That said: An API would make other script integrate so much better into LCPDFR, and that'd be awesome (for one thing, an API might let us use Braveheart's MDC or Abraxas's' PH database for ID checks). I believe that's planned for some point in the future, though.
  7. No, I actually have never seen an EVLS for IV. There's EVCS, but that's not EVLS. Links to the pack and mod?
  8. That's what the devs have always said since the beginning. This mod is called "First Response" for a reason.
  9. Say what? Isn't EVLS an SA mod?
  10. 1. Don't shout. Don't use all caps. Don't make your font huge. All that accomplishes is making people not want to help you. You wouldn't go up to someone in real life and shout in their face, right? Don't do it on the Internet, either. It's considered rude. 2. If you have an issue, describe it so that someone can actually understand it. Don't try to cram description into the title; actually describe it in the post. 3. Post in the right section. The section you first posted in is Website Support. It is only for issues with the site itself. Issues with mods go in the GTA IV support section. Topic moved to the proper section.
  11. Why yes, research has been done. The researchers aren't the ones marching. That's because the research concluded that it was safe. I agree with your last sentence, though. As for why countries ban the food: Clearly, marijuana is super-dangerous for everyone. I mean, look how many places ban it.
  12. This. The focus of LCPD:FR is and always will be to let you play as a regular patrol officer - a first responder. That's why playing as SWAT doesn't trigger SWAT callouts. That's why there won't be a detective mode.
  13. I have the same issue; I always assumed it was supposed to be like that.
  14. I assume it means forcible as opposed to statutory (person is underage), rape by deceit (a crime in some [if not all, not sure] states, where consent is based on lies), etc.
  15. Oh, I thought ARVs were AFOs. Aren't CO19 just SFOs? Or how do police firearms units work in the UK? Is there some reference I could read?
  16. Aren't there firearms officers outside CO19? I thought CO19 was just the specialist unit, but that there were also (more numerous) Armed Response Vehicles that could have given a better response time. Also, Darkangel, many places in the US aren't in a city. Outside a city, there may not be a cop 10 minutes away. It doesn't have it do with priorities; sometimes there just aren't enough cops (there might be a single deputy on patrol for the entire county, no troopers there, and maybe a couple cops in a city there - they literally wouldn't be able to reach everywhere that fast). Keep in mind the effect of population density.
  17. What's wrong with the other ones? Do you not like how they look, or do the lights actually just not work?
  18. Wait, what? If you were in the US, I might understand that comment, but as far as I know neither Canada nor the UK has capital punishment.
  19. If you buy it, I believe Professional is the standard "basic" model (I use VS2010 Professional).
  20. Don't off-duty cops carry weapons concealed, as a general rule? Not sure why you'd model a concealed weapon, b/c no one would be able to see it.
  21. MODERATOR NOTICE Moved to general GTA IV support
  22. .net.dll is a compiled script. .cs is source C# code. .cs is what you save the actual code as; if you want to compile it (can help with speed, and also achieves an effect similar to locking a model), then the compiled version would be a DLL. Don't pirate software. Microsoft has a free Express Edition if you don't want to pay.
  23. You can run VB programs without Visual Studio. All you need is the .NET Redistributable (which you have if LCPDFR works on your computer, and is a standard thing to be installed on Windows).
  24. That works. I use VS2010; same basic thing, just older. If you want free, you can use the Express Editions of Visual Studio. Technically, SHDN scripts can also be written in any half-decent text editor (such as Notepad++) - SHDN can run scripts from source; it doesn't need them to be compiled.
  25. In pursuits, they also have the radio in them. And the helicopters the radio can talk to. And the other police cars that don't have to outrun you, because they're already in front of you.
