  2. Not yet, no. The best you can do is try to use other factors (like: is the player in a cop skin?)
  3. ...maybe? Not completely certain.
  4. Take it private. Stop the pileon. We get your point, Firefighter, now MOVE ON.
  5. I think you can adjust the AI detection radius as a workaround, but the bug, annoying as it is, really improves stability.
  6. TechApp, you seem to confuse "non-commercial volunteer modding for fun" with "actual company, working to professional standards". LCPDFR.com is not the media, and these posts aren't press releases.
  7. There isn't an LCPDFR API yet, so you can't really integrate with it. However, an API is in development for a future version of LCPDFR. You could try to monitor Alt+P, but in general, you can't yet check on-duty status.

Well, you can mix and match ped parts yourself: http://www.lcpdfr.com/page/tutorials/index.action/_/player-ped-modification-tutorials/combining-ped-meshes-how-to-mix-and-match-clothes-for-a-ped-r4 Aside from that, ped modding isn't as established as vehicle modding (the needed tools came out well after the needed tools for car modding).
  9. Let's ease up on the pile-on here. If he releases it, it'll prove it's real. I think everyone's hoping he will release it. TechApp, don't give orders, ThatOneHick doesn't have to answer any of his questions if he doesn't want to. alexnafd, don't put your fights with Firefighter767 in this thread; this thread is about this mod, not about your guys's past history. Calling people "a**holes" and "pr*cks" is unacceptable. Everyone just calm down. Thanks.

  11. It used to be people used neither. However, at this point, the general feeling is that it's nice to have something between "hands and fists" and "beating people with a stick".

  13. Since this isn't a thread about whether or not to use all caps, please move on and stick to the original topic. Thanks.
  14. Tasers can also kill if you get injured while falling. There's a reason they are called "less-lethal", not "non-lethal".
  15. So I'm getting a laptop, and one option has an NVS 5400M and the other has an NVS 5200M. How big is the difference between the two? (either for games or for things like CAD)
  16. I'm pretty sure the original Xbox (which *should* be the xbox 1, if Microsoft hadn't picked an awful name for the xbox 3) literally ran on x86 hardware. Not sure if the new one does, but if it did, it could run Windows 7 without modification. Also: Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Xbox and Windows use very, very similar APIs? (IIRC, the "X" in XBox comes from DirectX) So showing off an Xbox using a Windows computer isn't necessarily a stretch. It's not like Sony using a Windows computer - seeing as Microsoft makes both Windows and XBox, I wouldn't be surprised if they are similar operating systems, with a similar core (like the relationship between OS X and iOS). I would be *shocked* if this is true. Microsoft licenses Windows and Office directly to businesses. Unlike Xbox, software licenses are pure profit. It costs literally nothing for Microsoft to sell a Windows license to a business - there aren't even costs associated with making a disk, because the business doesn't need another disk with each install (all they need is a license key). In addition, companies pay for support, people buy MSDN and TechNet subscriptions, etc. On the other hand, speculation is pointless. You see, as a publicly traded company, Microsoft actually has to release documents detailing its financial status. In 2012, the Entertainment and Devices Division had around $9.5bn in revenue, for around $364 million in profit. Now, in 2011, they had around $9bn in revenue for $1.5bn in profit, so 2012 might have been an aberration. Those numbers are far less than most other divisions in Microsoft. Business division? Around $23bn in revenue, $15bn profit. Server and Tools? $17bn revenue, $7bn profit. Windows and Windows Live? $19bn revenue, $12bn profit. The only division making *less* than Entertainment and Devices is Online Services. Don't act like Xbox is critical to Microsoft's success as a company. They are way bigger than their gaming division, and they can take the hit of a failed console. Office and Windows are total cash cows.
  17. Did you install both xliveless and dsound? Because 1) Don't do that. 2) Xliveless disables Games for Windows Live functionality, including GfWL profiles. If you *did* have xliveless when you made your saves, you will need to reinstall it to use them.
  18. Mods won't work nearly as well on 1.0.0.0. 1.0.4.0 is what some people use because that's what ENB works best with; if you want script mods, though, use 1.0.7.0. 1.0.0.0 is something I've never seen ANYONE using.
  19. domainnames.com only supplies registration, not hosting, for the 75 cents. It mentions you can forward to an existing website; it doesn't mention if you can forward to an IP (though I doubt you want to actually run your own server anyway). Also, it seems like it's operated by web.com, which quick searches reveal has a bad reputation, especially because they do things like jack rates way up. For example, the renewal fee after a year of $0.75 registration is over $30. Also, again, the $0.75 doesn't include hosting. If you do that, you have to find your own hosting elsewhere. Note: It's not that web.com is going to steal your credit card number; they are sufficiently legitimate to not do that. However, it looks like they aren't generally that good a choice.
  20. I just glanced at some Saints Row modding sites, and it looks like there is decent modding that they'll be able to do (the game developer is actually reaching out to them and offering info on file formats and the like). So, there might actually be some good things possible with Saints Row modding, and I'm now interested enough that I might actually buy SR3 and/or SR4 when it comes out. That said: LCPDFR represents years of development on the RAGE engine. It actually connects at a pretty fundamental level (AdvancedHook directly plays with the engine, not just going through SHDN). I'd be very surprised if G17 decided to take all that to a different game engine.

  22. So far as I know, you can't fix that with GTA IV. The computer will only work with EFLC. You can still ask for ID, but instead of hitting "check on computer" (which doesn't let you abort the stop, so you actually just need to track down a default police car to check it), just flip a coin to see if it's valid.
  23. Moved to Gameplay/Misc Mods.
  24. Youtube actually *can't* do this. The DMCA's safe-harbor provision (which is behind all these takedowns) requires a site to take down content as soon as a takedown request is received. They aren't allowed to independently investigate if they want to take advantage of safe harbor (which they absolutely want to do, as it stops them from being sued). If Youtube doesn't promptly take down the video, they are liable to be sued if it does in fact violate copyright. I'm sure you see why Youtube doesn't want to review every single claim and take that risk if they ever mess up. That said, the DMCA does require Youtube to promptly notify the uploader, at which point they can file a counter-claim. Youtube then must forward that counter-claim to the original complainant, at which point the complainant has 14 days to file a lawsuit against the uploader (among other things, since both claim and counter-claim are signed under penalty of perjury, *someone* did something illegal in every such case). If the original complainant doesn't file a lawsuit within 14 days, Youtube is legally required to put the video back up. If they don't, the uploader can sue Youtube. Source: chillingeffects.org
