[LIVE] Obama Answers Tumblr Questions
Your point? Are you saying other presidents have an immediate boss, thus not doing what they want? (and don't say the voters, that's not a "boss" - someone who followed opinion polls for every decision would be a terrible president, and the voters have no actual supervisory a president) Or that other presidents haven't issued executive orders? EDIT: Sorry, didn't see your edit. My points now stand as rhetorical points, not addressed to you.

[LIVE] Obama Answers Tumblr Questions
You're pretty sure based on...what, exactly? You *do* realize that the President has pretty limited control over the economy, right? Taxes are set by Congress, fiscal policy is set by the Federal Reserve (who have a decent amount of independence from the president, because fiscal policy is the sort of thing that is easy and tempting to screw up for short-term political gain), hiring is done by businesses, federal spending is, again, capped by Congress... Neither you nor anyone else knows what the result would be if anyone besides Obama were elected president. I mean, sure, in your head, Romney may have done a perfect job, but the only thing that has any sort of objective validity is what actually happened. What-ifs can be interesting, but always need to be prefixed with "but this didn't actually happen, and is just speculative". Yeah...no. Sorry, but the president meets a LOT of people, and doesn't remember most of them. You don't get to be president without being good with people, but it's really, really unlikely that he remembers a random person from a random conference.

LSPDFR Wish/ Want List
Keep in mind, we have no idea how easy/hard GTA V will be to mod. As I understand it, LCPDFR generally operates somewhat abstracted from the actual game, which would tend to make it easier to transfer once scripting on V is worked out, but we have no clue what scripting on V will be like, and it'll be a while before anyone can *think* of transferring the mod.

What directory do I need to put ELS in to get it to work with TBoGT? (A few questions)
ELS goes in the EFLC folder.

Active Shooter at Troutdale High School, Oregon
MODERATOR NOTICE Thread cleaned. The topic of this thread is the shooting. It is not Obama, gun control, whether there's some sort of conspiracy, or whether or not this thread should be closed. If you want to discuss any of those (except "whether or not this thread should be closed"), you are free to create a thread about that topic. You are not free to turn a thread about a different topic into a thread about your preferred topic. At the bottom of every post on the forum, there's a button that says "Report". If you see a thread or a post that is objectionable, click that button. It's worse than useless to *post* that the thread should be closed; if a moderator sees that post, they're already reading the thread. Reporting is the fastest way to bring the thread to the attention of moderators, and is far superior to any other form of bringing the thread to the attention of the Community Team. I mention this because no one reported this thread.

LVMPD Officers killed [UPDATED]
Is that all fatal gunshots, or just homicides? I'd expect the number of deaths from rifles to be higher due to suicides. This is not correct. As c13 mentioned, crime in the US is by and large committed with handguns, because it's really, really hard to conceal a rifle. There is no inoffensive gun. There is no such thing as a non-lethal gun. Any firearm is capable of killing, and rifles bring no advantage to criminals unless they actually intend to engage armed opponents (spoiler: they don't, because getting into a gunfight with police is suicidal). Additionally, there aren't a whole lot of legal automatic firearms for civilians in the US (it's illegal for a civilian to own an automatic weapon made post-1986, so legal automatic weapons are really expensive), and few crimes are committed with *illegal* automatic weapons, because, again, those tend not to be easy to conceal and give no practical advantage for the vast majority of gun crime.

GTA V Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC
They're still selling IV. That suggests that at the very least, if GfWL is actually shutting down soon (there have been literally zero official public statements by Microsoft to that effect; the closest Microsoft's publicly come to saying anything about GfWL shutting down is a blurb in an Age of Empires Online update almost a year ago, which was quickly removed, and they've said literally nothing one way or the other since then), Rockstar is likely going to patch out the GfWL DRM.

GTA V Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC
There is approximately zero chance Rockstar has any form of official support for modding. Considering there will be no official support, there will be no forced disabling when you go online. Individual scripters can restrict a script to only work in single-player, but it's ultimately futile to try to stop people from cheating with mods online.

GTA V Coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC
Rockstar doesn't like or allow mods for GTA IV. They haven't liked mods since the whole Hot Coffee thing, if not before. They just don't find it worth their while to pursue modders, and will almost certainly *continue* to not find it worth their while - they'll go after people using mods to cheat in MP, but are unlikely to go after people *making* mods (that's both extremely difficult and doesn't actually address the problem effectively).

Vanillla ELS cars no edited skins
Here's the problem with that: Vanilla cars aren't actually templated the way modded cars are. The only elements of the livery that show up in the texture are text and the LCPD patch; things like "where things go on the car", "what areas of the car have the same textures as what other areas", "what geometric elements are on the livery", etc. are all embedded in the model's UV mapping, and cannot be changed by a texture mod. Because of this, modded cars generally use full-car textures, which allow other people to make nice textures for them. For that reason, you're unlikely to find cars optimized for ELS that use the vanilla texture mappings. People do make ELS cars with skins designed to match the vanilla ones (well, almost - they often have skins which are somewhat more NYPD-ish than the vanilla ones are, but it looks close enough in practice), but the vanilla skins themselves aren't supported by almost any car mod, because that would require the mod to then *not* support any other textures. You might be able to get someone to make you a vanilla car with ELS, but you probably won't just find a modded car to use the actual vanilla textures.

Installing LCPDFR
1) The first installer uses the OpenCandy advertising software to show an ad during installation; the alternative is exactly the same, but without OpenCandy. 2) Unsure why this is the case; what files does it put in that folder?

will lcpdfr ever close down ?
Source? The marketplace shut down almost a year ago. That's not what's supposed to shut down on July 1. Also, interestingly enough, apparently Microsoft has made literally no official statements related to any shutdown - last year, they briefly said that GFWL would be shut down in an update to Age of Empires Online around a year ago. They then removed that line, and have not responded to any questions about it since then with anything except vague "we believe in PC gaming; there may be transitions in the future, but we remain committed to first-party services and games for the PC platform" statements. This doesn't mean they *aren't* shutting it down (I imagine that if they weren't, they'd say they weren't without being vague), but given that there is literally no official word whatsoever on any sort of GFWL shutdown, there's no real basis to say "well, this will still work" or "well, this won't".

LVMPD Officers killed [UPDATED]
Actually, that's almost certainly *not* what's happening, and I highly doubt any claim that that's a thing in any way. Considering that the US has a *lot* of people in gangs, many of whom have some sort of interaction with some cop on a given day, we'd see a lot more instances of police shootouts if that were not something made up to sell a story. Intimidating witnesses is one thing; trying to intimidate police is another matter, and is a *lot* harder.

SPU Shooting
Few things: First off, these shootings are *extremely* rare; so rare, in fact, that they are totally negligible in any sane risk assessment. The US has a *lot* of colleges, and any shooting gets plastered all over the news, but from the perspective of an individual school, it's not remotely worth the effort of getting a campus police to deal with this, particularly because there is s regular local police department who tend to be more than capable of handling it. Second, the idea of campus police isn't to handle big shootings. It's to give the university more control over their campus environment, and sometimes to patrol the campus in places where the local police have more important things to do (higher-crime areas). For plenty of schools, this isn't that big a deal - they aren't in a particularly dangerous neighborhood, and feel that campus security is sufficient to protect the campus, and that the local police is capable of handling things like investigating thefts and other crimes on campus. Thirdly, there is at least one school I know of which *does* have some of its security staff be sworn police officers, with powers of arrest. They are also unarmed, because it's not a dangerous area at all, and unarmed police are generally considered more approachable than people with lethal weapons attached to their body.
-
SPU Shooting
Not all universities have campus police; it's much more common among state universities, and even some universities which do have some campus police don't arm them (if they don't think they need to arm them, and the sworn officers basically work as more powerful security guards).

Area Livery Mod
Correct. Extra liveries follow the pattern you're used to; they're just called *whatever*_sign_*number*.

Yes. It's called "finishing". If you are wondering whether or not this ever happens, something is wrong with your computer.

If I buy EFLC do I have to do anything special to install things like LCPDFR and ELS?
No, you shouldn't have to do anything special; the only difference is that you install to the EFLC folder. Yes, the police bike in TBOGT should work. It is a fully-fledged police unit, and you can do traffic stops in it.

1.0c hints
It is. The livery limit removal is already in 1.0c, and was done by LMS. Extra liveries spawn naturally in traffic, and work in general pretty much exactly as you've come to expect liveries to work. All Sam is doing is changing *ALM* to make it support this - ALM currently only supports liveries 1-4, because that's all there were when it was made. If you have ALM, the extra liveries can be manually selected, but will not spawn in traffic (because they can't be set as valid liveries for any area); if you don't have ALM, the extra liveries already work exactly as they should.

Stuck outside of police station.
What mods are you using? And can you please post logs?

1.0c hints
This should be the case. It can't spawn *more* than the first 255 liveries randomly (although it might work to manually change livery past 255); however, it's conceivable that you'd run out of room to store textures before then. It's worked perfectly up to 17 or so liveries, and the part that gives a car a random livery will work up to 255 liveries (past that, they will not spawn without something manually setting the livery higher), and there's no inherent reason that manually setting livery wouldn't work up to orders of magnitude bigger than that; however, a) it has not been tested that high, and b) at some point IV runs out of memory. Also: If you do *not* want some of your liveries to spawn in traffic, and instead want them to only be spawned manually, just have a gap in livery numbering. If you have foo_sign_1, foo_sign_2, foo_sign_3, foo_sign_4, foo_sign_5, and foo_sign_7, then cars in traffic will randomly get one of the first five liveries, and foo_sign_7 will only appear when you manually assign it to a car (e.g. in a trainer, although, be warned, SNT only supports 10 liveries - going past that requires a different script).
