Key word there: "Peaceful." Peaceful protesters didn't injure 100 cops. And I can post pretty pictures with no context too:

Because it was politically correct to not be heavy handed with the protesters, resulting in a situation much worse than Ferguson was.

Bad policing is letting a hundred of your men get injured in order to protect political correctness.

No, common sense is having that there to deter the criminals in the first place. The peaceful protesters shouldn't be deterred if they care that much about their cause, and the local businesses are reassured because they feel like the presence will deter their own livelihoods being looted. A city ultimately cares more about local businesses than the supporters of a local criminal.

It's not "lumping together." It's preparing for the worst. It's common sense. If a protest for Mike Brown routinely precedes violence, then it makes sense to prepare for that violence by having anything necessary to break up a riot in the area. Should the police put all their gear away the day after 2 nights of rioting in case the rioters change their mind that night, then have to pull all that out from the station, prep it and respond to the scene only when businesses start to be ransacked?

Mother Jones is one of the most biased sites to ever exist. So what if I was off by a day. Businesses were ransacked the 2nd night. There is no excuse for that. The businesses had nothing to do with the shooting, and "protesters" looted them. Unlike you, I actually have been to Ferguson in the wake of the "peaceful protests." I saw at least 50 businesses boarded up, and that was 2 weeks after Brown was shot. If the same protest is consistently turning violent, police are going to put more pressure onto the protest to keep looting from happening again.

If that was Ferguson, your argument loses all credibility because there was looting on the first night.

LCPD Valor Pack
All you need to do is open it with notepad. If you still need better instructions, look in this thread: http://www.lcpdfr.com/topic/7424-multiple-liveries (but don't post in it).

It would help people a lot if you provided images of those vehicles.

Why do people diss IV since V
Because of how incredibly unstable it was and the overall piss poor job Rockstar made at porting it from console to PC.

How to get rid of police hats
Open up the peds.ide file. On the second line ([cop model name]_p) add a "1" or any other symbol just after the "p". This will make the game associate a non-existent hat model with the ped model, making it spawn without a hat.

This just means police have to buy those items on their own. Before yesterday, they could get all that through the government's 1033 program.

FBI Crime statistics track weapons used in crimes. 93% of murder weapons are handguns

I agree with most of the post except this. Criminals firing at cops in a prolonged shootout isn't managing a situation. That is a failure on behalf of the police (primarily because they did not have the tools to succeed that day). The main reason only the suspects died was because of the rounds being fired. The suspects were using armor piercing ammunition, which, while slicing through cars and vests like butter, left neat little holes instead of expanding upon impact. Multiple cops would've been killed had they used hollow points. Also, while police did procure rifles from area gun stores, they were taken too late to be employed.

I don't know of a single agency that has a tank or has even requested one. Besides the political ramifications, maintenance costs would be through the roof for something never used.

Those "tanks" (tanks are tracked heavily armored vehicles armed with a large cannon) are large wheeled trucks with armored plating. A majority of the time, they sit in garages at the PD, and they are only pulled out for PR show and tell events and times when someone does have a weapon (ie:barricaded suspect, active shooter, etc). Even handgun calibers can rip through car doors, so adequate protection is needed in these types of situations. On AR-15s, the advantage to their use might as well be over-documented. Every single reason why US police are switching to them over shotguns applies to civilians too. Body armor is purely defensive in nature.

This isn't a thread on gun control. If you would like to talk about that specific issue, please create a thread for it in this same section.

Just touching on this, camo is often helpful in more rural policing areas for obvious reasons. It also helps out in urban areas, particularly when a house lines up with a woodline. While definitely not keeping officers invisible, it adds critical few milliseconds of protection when a suspect is trying to find targets.

9 Dead, 18 Injured in 4 sided Texas Biker Gang/Police Shootout
An update on this, police knew about the meeting and had 12 officers on scene as it was happening, including parts of a SWAT Team. Its now confirmed that 5 rival gangs were shooting at each other, and police arrived within seconds and killed an estimated 4 of the 9 dead.

To quote CNN Therefore, almost none of what PDs request from the 1033 program. They will still be able to get MRAPs, handguns, M4s/M16s, shotguns, optics and a majority of other miscellaneous equipment. The only thing I could see being an issue for PDs are grenade launchers, since those can fire non-lethal grenades (tear gas, stingballs) that are often used by SWAT teams. But those can still be bought by police from the manufacturer.
