  1. Nice cars, though for some reason the ones from the 2.2 (gresley and bison2) do not use the modded siren I have (SS2000). Any idea why?
  2. So, according to you, not a lot of people are modeling or putting parts together, am I right? Like, it requires time, experience, and so on. Then there's even less reason to leave stuff locked, since only a handful of people could possibly use it. It's as if someone was preventing you the access to the nearby park just because the city fears that possibly someone amongst the ten thousands of inahitants could ransack it. From there I'll just quote myself, it'll be easier: All is summarized there. Converting a car and polishing it might take time, but it still doesn't make it YOUR model. It's the property of the editor who edited the game you ported it from. Nothing more, nothing less. So if you actually decide to lock a model that got ported, you're locking something that is not even your own property, which makes no sense. Works for people simply putting things together too, they actually don't own anything, they just build. Imagine a house building company worker. He gets the materials from his company, and builds the house, but I doubt it makes the house his property.
  3. Now. Let's be honest. I really -highly- doubt that majority of models released are made from scratch. They can be polished, but most of them are conversions of existing models from other games (i.e DSF CVPI, or the Charger you yourself released, which is from EA). So from there, you want to lock a model that you yourself ripped from another game, from another modeler who, unlike you, modeled the car (and most likely from scratch, him). Ironic, in my opinion. You're acting as if the model was yours in the first place, when it's actually not. You just modified an existing model. Basically, that's where I would stand. You created a model entirely from scratch? Feel free to lock it, it's truly your model and your creation. You modified an existing model that you converted from another game or similar? Locking it is hypocritical, because you are appropriating yourself the work of another person, just with your own modifications on it. If anything, you should ask the original creator if -you- can lock it (aka EA or Ubisoft, from the examples I have mentioned earlier).
  4. If anything, my comparison actually stands pretty fairly, and even stronger, especially because no money is involved in releasing models. So at the end, what do you have to lose? Credits. It all comes down to that once again. So if you -really- worry that much about just having your name on a internet page, I think the problem is there.
  5. If this is really based off the real LAPD CVPI as it is said in the description, I think you should place the LAPD logo at the center of the front doors, and reduce the size of the motto a little.
  6. Bla bla bla. Seemingly you read what I posted wrong, thus your answer to me is completely irrelevant. First of, what YOU think isn't any more important than what I think. As far as I know, we are in a free world, on a forum thread, and I'm free to speak my mind, which I did. Whether you understand what I'm saying, and agree or not is none of my business, but it's still my right to do so. Now. I'm not modeling, nor using development parts. What I've been doing is skins and photoshopping. So I actually have NO personal interest in having stuff unlocked. So technically, I'm not whining for anything. If anything, I WISH modding community was more open, and not closed off just like it is right now, with some kind of elitist club holding everything and -occasionally- throwing some crumbs to people. Let's make a quick comparison, to see how ridiculous this thing is. Let's say vehicle modelers are film producing companies, like Warner Bros and such. Let's say their models are movies. Do you really think Hollywood is going to be like "Oh my god, the movies can be ripped and illegaly downloaded! Oh my god, someone can release my movie on Youtube without paying me! Preposterous! If this is like that, I will not produce any movie ever again!". No. When someone is publishing an illegal version of their product, they make a complaint, the file is taken down, end of the story. Would it be -that- hard to do for models? I don't think so. As simple as that.
  7. Do you know vehicle modelers who will release their work if it's not locked, apart from giving development parts? That's where it all starts. On one side, people wanting an open community about modding and on the other, people who want to lock their work so no one would make use of it ever again. That's definitely not healthy, that's what I'm complaining about. Not the fact that no one released anything yet, but the fact that they don't plan to release something unlocked. I've respect for modelers work, especially yours that always has been so neat and clean, but locking everything is definitely not the solution. At the end, if there's no real way to lock models properly, and modellers decide to not release their work because of that, what will happen? The non-modeler community will keep using the released work with vanilla cars and stuff released by more helpful modelers who want to make modding more open to everyone, and the modeler community will stay with tons of models in their hands without even knowing what to do of them. So yeah, pretty sure we wouldn't be the side with the most losses.
  8. Putting a quote every one single line doesn't make anything easier to read, if anything it makes a post that takes 50% of the total thread page, completely messed up and difficult to follow. When you want to address someone's points, you quote them and answer as a whole with your argumentation, you don't try to take every single sentence (which, in some cases, can be extracted out of their context and thus lose their meaning) just to be smart. That's what I'm calling childish. You're free to disagree, not gonna change my mind. All in all, if the community annoys you that much, then don't release stuff anymore. Pretty sure we won't be the only one losing something in the process.
  9. Turning my post in a whole quote war just proves my point about the whole childish attitude. I'm not on a vendetta, I just want, like many people, to make the modding community open to everyone, and not closed to the few modelling like some kind of elite stuck on their pedestal.
  10. Pretty sure most people here are aware of how much time and effort are put and required to model stuff. That's still not the point. By not releasing your models until you find a way to lock them (and still, it'll be TEMPORARY, let's be honest on that), you are going to deprive the community you say to be part of from tools they could enjoy in their game. Even though it's understandable that you want credit for your work, acting that way and being like "Psh, mine, get lost" is purely childish. I didn't model once in my life, but I photoshopped a fair ammount of stuff. I got some of my work stolen sometimes, without credits. Did I go around yelling and say "I'm going to stop releasing stuff publicly because there's some nasty thieves!"? No. I simply left a comment "By the way, I made this, just so you know", and moved on. Yes, it's a bit annoying to see your work used without being credited. Doesn't mean you've to act like the least of brats about it. Sure, the community is relying on you to get models for their games. But without a community waiting for your work and encouraging you, I'm pretty sure modelling would be a lot less enjoyable.
  11. I'd indeed die for a Dominator, this car is beast. But I think she would look even better in an undercover version.
  12. Looks like this thread has run its course.
  13. I explained that just a few comments above, but well. The mods folder is used by Open IV to load custom files into the game without modifying the original files. Look for a tutorial on Youtube or Google, pretty easy to do.
  14. I have deeply hated any screenshot post on the gallery showing off a model with a small "not going to be released" below, it's just plain stupid. It's as if a baker was waving a chocolate cake right in front of you and then removed it and said "Nope, you ain't gonna have a crumb of it". This kind of behavior looks a lot like attention-grabbing to get compliments like 'omg ur car iz gud' and stuff. If you don't plan to release something, keep it to yourself, period. I'm glad some modifications have been brought related to that. And let's be honest anyway. Vehicle modders want their models locked? Even if they managed to lock them somehow, someone will -always- manage to break through. Everything gets ripped. Movies, musics, games, OS. It's the internet, that's how it is. Deal with it or don't and stop using it.
  15. Good way to address one point and ignore the whole argumentation about CEO's and how much of parasites they are.
  16. This can't be true enough. I keep getting denied from a job offer because the employers are like "We need someone with experience". But then, if no one hires people with no experience, how are they supposed to get some? It's a vicious circle and it's really, really annoying. To be fairly honest, it's like saying "2+2=4? It's complete load of garbage". He didn't speak his mind, he spoke the truth, you just have to look out at the window to realize it. World isn't what it was 40 years ago (which republicans seem to think). It doesn't work like "You want to be stinking rich? Do something of your life". The whole "America, land of opportunities" is outdated now, it's not working anymore. Unemployment exists because there's no job, not because people are lazy. Do you even read what you're typing? Sure, the company owner didn't get there by being a quitter. But do you -really- think that the poor McDonalds' employee, who's treated almost like an animal, who's getting paid like shit, who's working in terrible conditions just has even one little tiny chance to get that high? Be serious two seconds. Wanna talk about the company heads, of McDonalds since we are at it? McDonalds' new CEO, first, raised his salary by 69% as soon as he got the job. SIXTY-NINE. For having no experience on that job whatsoever. He did it just because he could and wanted money like a greedy enslaver. While people like you and me struggle in this economical crisis to get through, this guy dares to raises his salary of that much, for a total of 1.1 million, while his predecessor left with 3 millions for a one-year consulting agreement. We are talking about MILLIONS. And it's a CEO, not even the company creator or owner. Let's be serious two seconds there, bear with me. If that guy, who's getting 1.1 million per year, lowered his year salary at, let's say 480.000$ (which is still 40k$ per month, more than enough to live in luxury and decadency), all the money left could go to the employees, or given to charity to help American's extreme poverty. But nooo. They are selfish, and don't care about others, nor their company, nor their employees. All they want is to get their pockets full of money while juicing the hell out of other people like parasites, all the while placing their money in tax heavens so they barely even pay taxes (making the US losing money on those taxes, you know, the ones you and I are still paying). People defending big company owners makes me sick, they are defending what makes this world go wrong.
  17. Yeah, or maybe the working conditions at McDonalds are close to slavery. Have you ever worked there? When you are -forced- to make ten burgers per minute to fulfill the boss' schedule, obviously quality will go down. You want to blame someone? Blame company owners who always ask more and more from their employees while treating them like shit. It's crazy that people dare to blame McDonalds employees when they obviously never worked there and prefer to defend companies owners who make thousands of dollars per month just for sitting in a chair and yelling at people. Minimum wage is a social right. Businesses don't go bankrupt because of that, they go bankrupt because of either 1/ economical crisis, people don't invest in their company or buy their stuff, thus they lose money or 2/ they advertise/manage their company so badly they make it go bankrupt.
  18. No. Use a mods folder with Open IV asi loader to prevent the game from downloading the files. Look on Youtube or Google for a tutorial if you don't know how to do it.
  19. I agree with you on most of your posts, but I've to stop by on this one. There's definitely an increasingly ammount of immigrants coming from the Middle East that are entering Europe through Greece, and moving all over the EU to reach the north of France and cross the sea to England. And this is definitely a problem, because deaths are proportionally increasing. In the last few days, thousands of attempts have been made by migrants to enter the undersea rail tunnel to cross the sea and to go to the UK, disturbing train traffic, and getting some of them killed. UK and France actually signed an agreement not later than yesterday, UK agreeing to send UK cops to the France border to help them with the migrants, as well as 10 millions euros to financially help fighting the illegal migration. I don't think you've a single idea of how it works. Here in France, the minimum wage increases every year, following inflation. Prices of products didn't raise because of that. Furthermore, increasing the minimum wage proportionally increases purchasing power, allowing people to buy more, which brings money into the economical machinery, increasing companies benefits and allowing them to invest more, and so on. Also, the fact that your burger tastes like crap has literally NOTHING to do with how much people are paid. You can pay them billions if you want, if the base material is shit, the result will be equally shitty.
  20. The thing is, coloured people have a huge tendancy to pull out the "RACIST" card nowadays. Like, the other day, I was going down my mother's appartment after I came to visit her, and in the staircase I cross the path of two kids yelling like crazies. It wasn't the first time. I see the mom following up shortly after (she's of arabic origin) and tell her "You should watch your children, they are shouting, people live here". Her answer? "Shut up you fucking racist fucker". As if it was an excuse to get out of any situation.
  21. It's been a known issue since the launch of the game on PC. Basically a memory leak that overloads the RAM and forces the use of the hard drive page file. But loading from the hard drive is a lot slower than from the RAM, thus the stuttering. Many posts and tickets have been sent to Rockstar, without answers, I doubt they even know how to solve it, or if they know it's too deep into the game's code to actually solve it.
  22. Huge performance drops for me. The game stutters like crazy in LS when it used to remain smooth.
  23. Thanks for answering. Yep, used that key, then tried to change it for another one in the .ini to see if it was that, no change. Typed the command, it's listed in the plugins loaded and working. Maybe it's conflicting with something else.
  24. Personally my game doesn't crash, but I can't for the eff of my life make your spotlight work. The files are in the plugins folder, I've RHP 0.22 installed, I tried to put 'Load plugin 'Spotlight.dll' in the startup file and without, and when I press the key to switch on the spotlight, nothing happens. I tried using the numpad keys to move it around to see if maybe it was just aiming at the ground, but it wasn't. Just one time, it worked, but I couldn't turn it off afterwards. All my other plugins work fine.
