  1. Indeed the second gulf war wasn't based on anything, and to back it up I'd like to mention the NATO security council. The NATO system is simple. If a country member of the NATO is attacked, all the other countries -have to help them. However, if a country member of NATO wants to attack another country without viable reason, other country members have the right to refuse to bring their help. When the US wanted to invade Iraq because they supposedly had weapons of massive destruction, US representatives were unable to prove their point, thus many country members refused to join the US in this foolish attack, including mine, France (and I'm so very thankful for that, I'm tired of wars, especially the ones that are pretty useless). Besides, sure Saddam Hussein was a dictator, but he actually did a lot of good things in his country, such as hospitals, schools, and quite a honest freedom for people (for example, women weren't forced to wear this veil on their head). To me, if the US didn't start this whole thing, the situation in the middle east would be -a lot- calmer. It wouldn't be paradise, but it would also not be the mess it is today.
  2. I don't get your reasoning. Police having military equipment wouldn't stop the said guy to go on a killing spree since they ultimately want a suicide by cop, and the only thing police need to stop them is a bullet. Wether it comes from a mounted gun or a pistol, the result will be the same, so a handgun or a semi-automatic rifle is more than enough for this kind of task.
  3. This guy is another dude who is applying the Jam Technic: The less you have knowledge of something, the more you try to spread it over the table, just like jam on a slice of bread. All he's saying is based off of nothing else than his own thoughts. Even though he's free to speak his mind, claiming that those countries may not survive is quite ludicrous to me.
  4. Okay, you just lost all credibility now. A dictator. I'm just laughing so hard I'm going to choke. I'll ignore your replies from now on, for my own health and good.
  5. So you definitely have NO IDEA what communism is. Like, no idea whatsoever. I quote: "In political and social sciences, communism (from Latin communis – common, universal) is a social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society, which is a socioeconomic order structured upon the common ownership of the means of production, absence ofsocial classes, money, and the state." Take note that what happens in Russia, China, North Korea has nothing to do with what communism is supposed to be. It's dictatorship hidden behind a supposed communism politic. From that point, anything that doesn't fit this description is not communism. AKA everything you call communism. If you want to talk about such serious matters, please make sure to know what you're talking about, otherwise you will just look uneducated, foolish and dumb. Just like now.
  6. When I read "communist" or "communism" around here, I can't help myself but laugh so loud I make the windows of my room tremble. A lot of people on this website have definitely no clue what communism is, and that's rather hilarious to see them using that as an argument or adjective to describe something or someone.
  7. I'm not decided yet about this game. I'm a big fan of the good old NFS (I played countless hours on NFSU 1 & 2 and Most Wanted (the first one, not the crappy one)), but one small teaser of 30 seconds made of CGI is not enough to give me an definite opinion on this game. Especially when we know it's still EA behind the game, the editor who destroyed many licenses like the Sims or SimCity or the incoming Battlefront, etc. To me, this game will have to have the following arguments to expect convincing me to buy it: it must have regular cars, and not always supercars, good customization and not 3 bodykits and a few paintjobs, illegal street racing atmosphere and not super rich dudes gathering for a race, cop chases (don't care if I can't be a cop) and a good OST (Most Wanted had the best OST of all NFS games IMO). The NFS games were originally never made for the player to play as a cop, what did you exactly expect? Not everything is about being a cop, sometimes you've to be more open about other kinds of games.
  8. Don't know if you're still looking for info, but I'll still provide some for the sake of it. The events happened ten years ago, in 2005. Two young teenagers were coming back from a football game, walking quietly on the streets. Then a police car pulled over, probably for an ID check or something. The teenagers got scared for some reason and started running away, before trying to hide into a power substation, which ended in them being eletrocuted. The story seems simple, but it brings several questions. Firstly, what did the teenagers do for them to feel the need to run away? Secondly, why the access to this power substation wasn't locked (which brings the question of the responsability of the electricity company)? The thing is, after investigation, the teenagers did absolutely nothing wrong besides running away, so why did they? I personally think that either the police was indeed abusing of their power in those neighborhoods, or they were told by older people that the police was abusing of their power without witnessing it themselves, being true or not. Now, I believe that ten years is way too long for a court to bring a judgement. At this point, doesn't matter if the cops were judged guilty or innocent, after so much time it would have brought incomprehension in both cases, from both sides. Sure, according to the law, the cops did absolutely nothing wrong in this situation in particular, since they didn't push the boys into that substation, nor did they threaten them. But I believe that this should have brought an internal investigation to try to find out why those boys got so scared of the cops that they felt the need to run away. Now I see that the website you picked your information from is slightly exaggerating the situation. No building was set on fire, only cars and trashcans, and there were some fights between rioters and anti-riot police. And there were certainly not thousands of people arrested, at most a few hundreds, over several weeks. Oh, and them being muslim has absolutely nothing to do with what happened, so I have no idea why they feel the need to precise that. Religion was never involved at any point in this case, looks like an attempt to bring more hatred on muslims to me.
  9. I just got the exact same thing, though it was in German, while also having this "not-login-in-at-the-first-load-of-the-page-when-it-should" thingy. Refreshing the page logs me in and resets the language to english. Also, @Iconography, I actually can't find any language change slider like you show on this version of the website, are you sure it's still there?
  10. What I mean is that before, it could be spotted right away, and in one click once I was in the download section. Now it requires two clicks. One for the scripts & data, and then for the filter. It might be only one more click, but it remains a regression compared to the previous website. In my opinion, when a website is changing, it should be for the best, as in improving it, not making it harder to navigate.
  11. The fact that there's a filtering doesn't change the fact that this is not a progression but a regression in the website's functionality. The more someone has to click, the less the website is easy to use. Before, we had to do one click to see this particular section, now we have to actually look for the filtering and make sure it's set on that particular thing.
  12. The transition to this website also messed up some downloads. My french translation I uploaded a few days before the change suddenly got mixed with the spanish translation files (catalan, exactly), and I had to reupload the file. I hope it's a very rare bug, because otherwise it'll become a huge problem with the ammount of mods on this website.
  15. The conversion from ELS v8 configs to ELS v8.5 is in the ELS v8.5 documentation that is provided with the ELS mod. Also, the poly ammount is less of a problem than the size of the vehicles themselves, since what is causing texture losses is memory usage. For crashes, it might not be the cars only, but the other mods you are using, such as Police Helper for example (largely used by people, yet totally not built to work with LCPDFR since the 1.0). Turning off the AI lights can sometimes solve the crash issue, but it remains rather rare from what I've seen while browsing the forums.
  16. There are not a lot of ELS v8.5 cars, would be easier to find ELS v8 cars and convert their ELS config to 8.5, takes like five seconds. That being said, I found this pack to be rather low poly compared to other models on the market: http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/7265-lcpd-fictional-vehicle-package/?tab=comments
  17. 32GB of RAM may be useful for memory-thirsty softwares such as 3D rendering or video rendering, but for gaming it's absolutely useless, sorry to tell you that. 8GB to 16GB is the way to go, being above this is a waste of money -and- time to install it. To the OP: you will most likely be able to run the game in mid-settings like I do (I've an FX-6300 and a GTX660 with 8GB), and I can assure you it still looks darn pretty in mid-settings
  18. Well, I don't know for you, but I for sure wouldn't let a giant, meanly shaped piece of metal push my car if I stalled. Can you imagine how it can bend your bumper/bodywork? Heck, I'd prefer to push my car myself, even if in the snow or something, or call for a private tow-truck company that I'd have to pay. At least I know my vehicle will be safely moved. That being said, I think pushbars are more useful when it comes to counties and less populated areas, as officers (who are obviously less numbered than in large urban areas) would have less opportunities to place road blocks but more opportunities to pit the suspect, while in bigger cities (LA, NY, San Francisco, Washington, etc), police have more cars to keep up with the suspect and block the different roads the suspect might take, but almost never can pit the suspect due to safety with pedestrians and traffic. Long story short: pushbars are good for counties and less populated areas, less good for urban/suburban areas.
  22. There's a search bar on top of this very website, as well as Google, gta4-mods, gtapolicemods, and so on. CPD mods are flourishing all over the internet, if you open a topic for that at least make sure you looked around properly.
  23. Je doute fort que ce soit lié à la traduction étant donné que le fichier de trad n'a aucune incidence sur les scripts, c'est simplement un changement d'affichage.
  24. Thanks for posting all this and sharing! Though I feel like I'll stick to the vanilla as long as I can
