So far GTA is the only game I've played that has an issue with Windows 8. If you follow the guide OL posted, that should get everything working. Essentially, you just need to get the latest version of GFWL if I remember correctly.

Going by the BBC, it sounds almost certain that it crashed. There is an area of unrest in northern Mali (where the plane is thought to have crashed), but it's very unlikely the fighters had anything to do with this as they only have shoulder fired rockets. In no way can those hit a plane travelling at 33,000+ feet. The weather was pretty bad during their flight, and the plane's route was changed to avoid the weather. The temperatures were recorded at -75C (-103F). Try renaming MyMod.net.ini to MyMod.ini. That may help. I don't believe .NET scripts use .net.ini extensions for their ini files. I don't work with GTA scripts at all, but it's an easy thing to try at least.
