  1. Not only for police harassment, but for your own personal safety as well. There are many people that don't take a liking to cops.
  2. Slightly off-topic, but I have to say, I enjoy the working world 100x more than the "schooling world." High school was god awful, college was fun but also stressful at the same time. Now, I clock in at work, do my shit, then I clock out. Whatever time I have left is purely mine. I don't have to study, do any assignments, nothing. I can just relax after a hard day's work and on my days off, I can piss it away by watching "Law and Order: SVU" marathons on USA without having to worry about any exams or anything.
  3. Many times, police cars are designed by vinyl graphics companies with a catalog of designs resulting in very similar looking police cars in departments that have no relation to each other.
  4. I absolutely hated it. I'm so glad I never have to go to a high school gym class ever again. It's been years since I've graduated from high school and my hate for gym is still the same. What made it worse were the people that took it way too seriously, the same people that would yell at other people...they can piss off for all I care. I remember seeing people legitimately upset because their team lost. You're not in the NFL, so you can calm your tits. If you get that worked up over a high school gym class, god bless your heart you sweet summer child.
  5. I'm not usually one to keep up with these beauty pageant things, and this is probably (my first) and last time "keeping up" with them. For those of you don't know, Miss Colorado, about a week ago, delivered this monologue about her career as a nurse. I'm going to be the first to say it, I wasn't personally a fan of the monologue. I felt like she herself really downplayed the amount of responsibility a nurse has for their patients among other things, but that's beside the point. Enter "The View." This is their response to the monologue. Jesus, I don't even know where to begin. For one of America's largest professions, it still astounds me how little people know about it. We're not just pill pushers, and we're not your doctor's assistants, nor do we solely exist to give you coffee or extra juice for dinner. We are on the frontlines of making sure that your loved ones get the best possible care that they can get and our assessments is what drives your doctor's plan of care. We are responsible for recognizing life threatening symptoms (which are sometimes very subtle) so we can quickly get you the care that we need to save your god damn life. "The View" effectively shit on a profession that I have worked so hard to become a part of. PS: I use my stethoscope everyday so I can properly do my job. Not only doctors use stethoscopes. Ok, I'm done ranting now. Time for me to recuperate after my shift.
  6. Tah-ho, like Lake Tahoe in California/Nevada.
  7. Remember, evolution is only a theory. *eyeroll*
  8. I would have to agree with Lund on this too. Coming from a field that also requires a lot of documentation and paperwork, why anyone would want to do this in their free time is beyond me, but hey, to each his own.
  9. It will be released hopefully next week. Just did a reformat, so it'll take a few days to get everything installed and up and running again.
  10. I honestly have no hopes for this game at all. This is probably the 392792th time I heard of it and like CouthInk, I thought it died.
  11. Ah, I see. Getting a 0 on an assignment can pretty much tank your grade...though I'm pretty sure you know that, especially in college when there are fewer overall assignments when compared to high school. If a sob story won't work, get the assignment done and just come clean with your professor and admitting fault, IMO. If you're just gonna get a 0 regardless, might as well try the honest and apologetic approach. Maybe throw in the whole, "I'm new to college" thing too. Just a side note, however. Once you start off with a low GPA as a freshman in college, it's going to be hard to bring it up...I learned the hard way from personal experience. Don't listen to people who say, "You have 3 years to bring your GPA up!" Most likely, that won't happen. Work hard now so you don't have to worry about it later. Classes will get progressively harder and your GPA will get progressively lower. I started off nursing school with a 3.4 GPA, thinking I'll be able to bring it up. I ended up graduating with a 3.34. Similar situation with my girlfriend, except she started off with a 4.0 and it went down to a 3.7. Same scenario with all my other friends...their GPAs all progressively got worse. Bottom line is: yes, you should be worried. If you end up getting a 0, accept it and learn from it, don't let it happen again. Remember, freshman year is going to be your easiest year of college. If you piss it away and screw it up, there is a good chance that you will never recover from it.
  12. Question: is this a class you are taking as a freshman in college or a senior in high school? Judging by your avatar, I'm assuming a freshman in college?
  13. After a looong hiatus from creating textures for the GTA series, I'm happy to finally have the time and motivation (thanks to graduation and GTA V, respectively) to start creating skins again. What a better way to start than creating my first skin(s) for GTA V? Included in this pack will be variants for all the areas that the Los Santos Sheriff's Department has jurisdiction over in GTA V: Sandy Shores, Paleto Bay, and Davis. Also included will be a general LSSD variant. All variants will have unique unit numbers as well. The pack will be released with standard and high resolution (4K) textures. These skins will be for F5544's Ford Crown Victoria and Shadydk311's Chevrolet Suburban Screenshots: Spoiler Download
  14. Holy. Shit. What the hell is going on? This is absolutely ridiculous. The only reason I'm grateful he's alive is that it'll be somewhat easier to figure out the motive behind it. I hope he's assigned to a real-life Nurse Ratched in the ICU.
  15. There's an awesome thread on GPM about common police fonts. Link
  16. Ah, I see, thanks. Is there a centralized place with all this information? Certainly isn't as straight forward as in GTA IV haha.
  17. The directory of the .rpf in the mods folder is: "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64e.rpf." Once in the .rpf, the directory is as follows: "GTA V\mods\x64e.rpf\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf" and I am trying to replace "sheriff.yft," "sheriff.ytd," and "sheriff_hi.yft." Once in game, only the original sheriff cruiser shows up while using a trainer to spawn it.
  18. So, I have finally come around to modding GTA V (outside of script mods), but I seem to be having some problems installing car mods. I own the disc version, so I've been trying to use to use to "mods" folder in OpenIV. I have followed the tutorial on their site to a tee, but the modded car never shows up in-game. The model I'm trying to install is this. If anyone could help me out, that would be great.
  19. Has there been any updates on this problem?
  20. I don't work in NYC, so I couldn't tell you. Everyone calls it an "ambulance" where I am (upstate). I'll let you know when I finally get a job in NYC, haha.
  21. Who said I needed any help with my career? Reading comprehension, learn it. Good job on completely ignoring the whole point of my post.
  22. Yes, people should go pick a "real job" off the "real job tree" that grows in everyone's backyard. If it was that easy to find a "real job" (whatever the hell that means, god I hate that phrase...), don't you think everyone would be at least middle class? But, guess what? It's hard to find a job, let alone a real job. Lets take nursing/healthcare as an example, a field that I'd say I'm pretty familiar with since well, I'm a nurse. You'd think getting a job as a nurse would be easy, yeah? You know, with the whole "nursing shortage" and everything (which is bullshit, by the way). And I guess it'd be considered a "real job" in your eyes too, since we get paid fairly well and work quasi-regular hours...though I do wish I made more, but I digress. Wrong. Hospitals are downsizing and try having less staff to do more work, and I know of several that have outright closed. There are nursing graduates that have had difficulty finding a job up to 1-2 years after they have graduated. Many resort to working at nursing homes or finding temp work to get by, hoping to finally be hired by a hospital. Don't forget, this is healthcare we are talking about, a field that is considered relatively stable because as you probably know, there will always be sick people. I remember trying to find a job as a nursing assistant after my second year of nursing school. In case you don't know, a nursing assistant is as entry level into the healthcare field as you can get. They get paid $13/hr to take vitals, do finger sticks, help patients with their ADLs (activities of daily living), and of course, cleaning up piss and urine. It's a tough job, and not everyone can do it. I applied to all the hospitals within an hour radius of where I live, some hospitals were even two hours away...I only got 1 interview and that was at a summer camp that paid me 66 cents an hour. Thankfully, I was hired by them and was able to land a hospital job the next year (after applying to about 10 and only getting a call back from two of them). My classmates on the other hand...not so lucky. Many of them struggled to get jobs outside of retail. Now, if it's this hard to get a job in healthcare, imagine what it is like in other professions/careers/fields, so don't give me that bullshit that people should "just go get jobs" like it's so easy. If it was, don't you think everyone would be getting jobs and living a nice, comfortable life? Woah woah, hold up. So you don't have enough money to go to college, but you have enough money to move...? wat. Also, applying to and getting scholarships isn't that easy. Again, if it was, don't you think that student loans wouldn't be such a big problem as it is today? As was also pointed out to you, not everyone can join the military. You seem to have to have this view that everything in life you can get by just "doing x, y, and z." The reality of it is, it's not as easy as you think it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning people be getting hand outs left and right, and I definitely don't support the whole "street mentality" found in many of America's Detroits and Camdens. What I'm saying is, things are hard out there, even for people who are trying to work to better themselves.
  23. Yeah, I was a nursing assistant for the past year and there were days where I just wanted to hide in the clean supply room and never come out. I remember when I had a patient rip out their bloody IV and chuck it at me, or when I had two patients code right at shift change. But then there are those days where a patient will tell you how much you've helped them and how they genuinely appreciated it and that alone makes up for all the god awful days. It is honestly the best feeling in the world. I am currently very interested in oncology, but I'll be starting my new job in Medical Telemetry on Monday. I was interested in the ICU for a while, but I don't think I'm even close to being ready for that at this point.
  24. "Holy shit, I can't believe I actually pulled it off" is all I can think of when I hold my license in my hand; it is just so surreal. After four years of hard work and dedication , I can finally call myself a "Registered Nurse." I have constantly doubted myself all throughout nursing school and at times, I honestly didn't think I was going to make it. But I did, and I have never been happier. It's amazing how only a few weeks ago I could still get away with, "Hold on, let me go get your nurse" if a patient needed anything anything beyond a bed bath; a phrase that I will have to retire since, well, I am the nurse now. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I'm excited, but on the other, I'm morbidly terrified. However, I do know one thing for certain: that I am damn proud to be able to put "RN" after my name, and the amount of responsibility that goes along with it.
