  1. Unfortunately a lot of people got sucked in very quickly by the drama. Was quite surprising to see all of the "doom and gloom" everywhere, actually. Still, this seems like a good outcome, although it'll be interesting to see how the situation with OpenIV develops. My guess is that will be a tricky situation for Rockstar - if they allow OpenIV to continue, then since a legal notice has been filed, they will surely need to retract that and instead give them some sort of official permission. Would be a first for sure, as far as I know.
  2. I don't like the idea of this. I don't believe there is a specific need, and this is probably shown by how there actually is the tradition of police in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) not carrying weapons. Of course, there are a growing number of firearms officers - experienced cops who receive special training (which is very rigorous as far as I know) in the use of firearms - in the UK. They are deployed to situations where firearms may be involved, and also conduct routine patrol work. I think the best idea is to recruit more of these firearms officers. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of every police officer in the UK being issued a firearm. I fear the training standards would have to be dramatically lowered, and we would see a huge rise in the needless escalation of incidents by the police.
  3. As I'm sure everyone will be aware, the single hottest topic recently, throughout the entire GTA community, has been the closure of OpenIV and the controversial statement released by Rockstar Games shortly after. Today, Rockstar Games have released a new statement, answering Are PC Single-Player mods allowed?: Obviously, this is fantastic news for everyone, and we're grateful to Rockstar for clarifying the situation. Furthermore, it's been incredible, just amazing, to see the support from across the gaming community for our cause. Very quickly, let's also say a special thanks to our very own LSPDFR member @t0y, whose petition to save OpenIV amassed a mind blowing 75,000 signatures in the space of a week! It's been truly awesome to see the outpouring of support from everyone regarding this. Thank you to everyone who has contributed towards bringing us this very welcome piece of news.
  4. Just so everyone is aware, the update for ScriptHook V which supports the latest version of Grand Theft Auto V is now available: http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/
  5. Summary & FAQ: http://www.lcpdfr.com/news/openiv
  6. Please keep OpenIV discussion to this topic: On a side note, I don't think calling them names will help anything!
It's really nice to see when something like this comes along. To get everything in this pack as close to the real thing as possible (and from what I understand, it is very, very close) must be such a time consuming process. Big kudos to you, this is what modding is all about.
  7. As someone with eyes (hopefully), you should be able to see that the title of this forum includes "Gaming"! On topic though, this is a nice find - it looks quite like the old SWAT games which I really enjoyed. Could be great fun to play with others in co-op.
  8. Well, from my understanding, in the US there isn't really such a thing as a "court summons" for traffic violations (at least they aren't called that) - that's something which is more common in Britain and similar legal systems. This might help. I think a "summons" is similar to a "citation" in the US: http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-citation-and-vs-ticket/
  9. Channel 7 News in Australia ran a story regarding LSPDFR yesterday, misrepresenting that LSPDFR and other modifications are used as a simulation for killing police officers. This has since been picked up by other media outlets, as well as the gaming press. Obviously, this simply isn't the case, and you can read our statement regarding this matter below.
  10. Lundy is absolutely right in saying that modding shouldn't be about money - it is simply about people who want to do more with their games, so that they can gain more enjoyment from it. There's a real risk that when money does become involved, many people will simply be excluded from participating for any number reasons, such as being unable to pay for a certain type of car of being unable to donate for an update to a script. The community shouldn't be for the few - this is for everyone. I hope you can find someone to help with your model, but please do not be making offers to pay for this here.
  11. How many lifetimes are you willing to spend around this fire?!
  12. The past year has been an interesting one to say the least here at LSPDFR. Of course, we kicked things off with quite the event when LSPDFR 0.3 was released as part of our first ever livestream - something which, despite the many teething problems, quickly rose to prominence on Twitch and was apparently quite popular with everyone. I think it will remain the most horrible experience that any of us have ever bared witness to, but nonetheless, we're looking forward to doing it again soon! Aside from our work on LSPDFR, we've also been looking at ways to build upon the success that our community has experienced over the past year, and we're excited to announce the introduction of three new members to our team in an entirely new community-facing role...
  13. Probably the best thing to come from 2016 though, by a mile, is the staggering number of new modifications that people have developed for GTA V. Whether it was the number of new customisation possibilities brought by Emergency Uniforms Pack, the amazing array of new vehicle models and textures or simply the light which was cast upon us by ELS V, I think it is safe to say that this year has been one of, if not the most innovative that we've ever had. This success is definitely something that we will be looking to build upon for 2017, and that's where our new team of Community Editors, who I'm sure many of you might have noticed, will come into play. While the idea of dedicating members of our team to working solely on the community is nothing new, it is something that we've never quite fully pulled the trigger on until now. Many of you will remember that we placed a special banner throughout the website back in November, offering people the chance to become more involved with LSPDFR by joining our Community Team. The response to this was incredibly encouraging, with us receiving many more messages of interest than expected. Better yet, the range of people who contacted us was also really diverse with many newer members looking to get involved, as well as people who have been here since the very beginning. Above all else though, it was really exciting to see just how passionate and engaged so many people within our community are about LSPDFR and this is something that is especially evident in the three members who we have picked for the role: @Fiskey111, an LSPDFR API developer: @PgUp, the avid Aussie: @Requies, a member since 2010! From all of us here, happy new year! We hope that you will join with us in welcoming these new additions to our team - you'll certainly want to be following them closely this month if history is anything to go by. Sam.
  14. Those orange eyes ain't human, Lundy. Fitting, I suppose, as neither are you. On topic though, this is nothing new - there's a good number of women that play LSPDFR - it's certainly something that a lot of people who are looking to get into law enforcement or other emergency services can become interested in, and there's an increasing number of women who are which is nice to see.
  15. This should be added now.
  16. It's a play on this sort of thing:
  17. The time has finally come! Emergency Lighting System for Grand Theft Auto V is now available, bringing hundreds of new lighting patterns, a bunch of siren options and a beautiful new interface for controlling your vehicle's emergency equipment. Developed by our own @Lt.Caine and @LMS, ELS-V is a must-have for any one that enjoys realistic police and emergency vehicles in their game. Additionally, Wednesday also sees the release of the latest version of Realism Dispatch Enhanced - a massive modification that brings loads of new vehicles and characters, as well as a custom wanted system that includes a six star wanted level. Both of these modifications are available in our Downloads section now!
  18. Emergency Lighting System for GTA V After much waiting and anticipation, the time has finally come. Emergency Lighting System for Grand Theft Auto V is now available. Much like its predecessor for GTA IV, ELS-V brings hundreds of new lighting patterns, a bunch of siren options and a beautiful new interface for controlling your vehicle's emergency equipment. Developed by our own @Lt.Caine and @LMS, ELS-V is a must-have for any one that enjoys realistic police and emergency vehicles in their game. Realism Dispatch Enhanced As if the release of ELS-V wasn't enough, we've also been spoiled today by the latest release of Realism Dispatch Enhanced. RDE is a massive modification that brings loads of new lore-friendly models and textures for vehicles, models and even police stations. Also new in RDE 3.0 is a custom wanted level system that not only re-introduces the six star wanted level, but also fully utilizes all of the new assets added by the RDE modification, meaning that should the player become wanted in the airport, for example, they will be chased by airport police. Both of these modifications are available in our Downloads section now
  19. There's a solution for that at the top of the page. This is an issue caused by RDE and the latest GTA V update and is nothing to do with LSPDFR or any other mods.
  20. It doesn't look like many people are modding Watch_Dogs 2. We did at one point look into scripting something for the first Watch_Dogs game, although the game was patched and the scripts didn't work after. If any tools/hooks are released for W_D 2, it is certainly something we might look at, but it looks extremely unlikely as of now.
  21. I like what you've done with this, a refreshing change from all the real cars.
  22. This might help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFW0auZMr_k You should really be able to search for these things on your own without having to ask people. There are so many tutorials out there which you can easily find with Google searches.
