vdH PoliceHelper 1.2.0 beta

Featured Replies

Should be this week. I have some small fixes left. For now there are no serious bugs reported in current beta. I still don't know what to do with "closed-used" roads in EFLC bug and I have to write manual for whole thing.

All in all I'm pretty confident that at least RC version will be released this week :)

Thats great news!! I really like the design that you did on the first post

If you need any beta testers still (im sure you dont) dont hesitate to ask me

Also, will I be able to remove the towing script files from my scripts folder with this installed? or will they be required to be there but it is managed with the police helper PDA thing?

Also Nutt gave me a great idea for yet another scenario for bait car. It will work for both games but I have to test in what shape I can make it ;)

Hitting a lick as they call it in the D... lol

hitting a lick.... in the d? what language is that? 0.o :P hehe, keep up the good work Abraxas ^_^ Looking forward to the RC when you're ready for it. *giving you a thumbs up from this side of the computer*

"Hitting a lick" is slang language for robbery and a few other felonies along those lines. The "D" is shorten slang language for Detroit. Now you have been hood-educated... :p

Ok guys. I need your help now. I can't decide what to do with one annoying problem. Sometimes thief will drive to chop shop through some unattended and even close roads. Do you remember that road through city hall building in front of broker bridge? These idiots sometimes choos to drive it despite it being closed.

I've tried everything, without success. Even original gta taxis drive there.

Question is: what should I do with baitcar when it's stuck in a place like that?

- leave it and let player to arrest that moron

- teleport it to nearest main road

I really don't know which option is better so you have to tell me.

I think that the best option would be to let player arrest the moron, that way would be much easier and less buggy, that's my opinion sir.

KUBEANIE was that in EFLC or GTAIV?

That barrier thing. Which car were you using? It should spawn behind you, in extreme cases (biiig cars) it may spawn "in" car but never in the middle o_O I'll make fix for that tomorrow.

TowServices script still will be separate mod. PoliceHelper will check if you have compatible version and activate call button or not.

No matter what thief is doing you always can arrest him. I just have to do something that they will try to back up or drive around obstacles, not just stand there forever.

I'll try to upload new test version tonight with fix for that. This time update info will be available in game.

Ok bud

Cannot wait for this looks so impressive, as with the Tow mod you have created has been amazing and has never caused any problems I cannot wait to try this out praying for a release today!!!!! :)

I've only ever had 1 issue with TowService, when I was in TowMode=0 on a one way street the truck spawned, and tryed to come down the one way street and just stopped, I pushed the car closer to him, but that did nothing.

Easy fix is just use it in TwoMode=2. Works amazing online as well. (Minimal crashes online also)

I recommend tow mode 1 or 2 myself. A.I. can be really annoying in GTA. I'm currently fithing with it to make thieves a bit smarter. Unfortunately it's gery hard to do. I doubt I finish new test version tonight but it will be up for sure tomorrow. Then some testing and hopefully release, no matter if beta or RC.

I understand programming takes time, but how can you possibly overshoot the release date by a week? You said it was to be out last week, now it seems like it won't even be out this week.

Sorry if I'm being a little impatient, I guess I'm just eager to play this and I'm a bit dissapointed seeing all these releases just for BETA testers. Why not allow EVERYONE to BETA test?...seems like having much more data and feedback would be a bit better. People would just need to realize it's a testing version, and have to hold back all their complaints.

gotcha...so I leave the towservice files in my scripts folder but I can edit the ini so its like this:

from:

 key = T

to:

 key =

Well I have a thing call REAL LIFE. I'm not a programmer so sometimes when serious bug appears I can't fix it just like that. Also I have to make some money and scripting isn't helping with that.

I've never said that it will be released last week. Yes, it was my plan, but really serious bugs appeared. Today I was only able to test some fixes. Tomorrow I'll add them to whole script, it should help those mindless thieves get to their destination.

And as I said before I will release mod this week no matter what, maybe it will be beta, maybe RC, I don't care. I really have enough of this constant fixing and getting mad over this. I just want it to be released and hear complains that this and that doesn't work like it should.

Officer Doom there will be "switch" in ini file like this useKey = no ;)

PS: Week too late. Please. Look at all game developers. They can delay releases over half year... or more :D

PS: Take ALL the time ya need, we will all still be here :)

You realize a lot of game developers "overshoot" their release date by a lot of time, usually months, sometimes years. GTA IV was pushed back a couple times when it was first released. The problem, if you had read the past few posts, is that some unexpected bugs have been popping up.

And your point is? I'm sure when a game is delayed that is backed by a team of professional developers, it's for a much more serious reason.

However, I have no problem waiting longer for the mod. I just wish release dates or E.T.As were a bit more accurate. Sorry if this seems ignorant.

Pretty much no one who writes any software at all can come up with an accurate release date. And if professional software is delayed, it is often for the reason this mod is delayed - bugs pop up that have to be fixed.

It's usually not the bugs that delay games. It's usually the lack of funds or resources.

Yes it does..

A person that gives freely of their time and u compare to multi million dollar game developers...

Shame !!
