Braveheart's Policing Script [23/11/2012: 2.0 BETA released!]

Recommended Posts

Can you give more information about the crash, what where you doing when it crashed? Where there any error messages? The mod can't fix anything without any information to try and re-create it.

I guess it experiences trouble creating situations because scripthook does not report anything. But evidently, when I remove the mod, the crashes vanish magically. It IS possible for a script to freeze and crash the game without giving out any scripthook errors and that's fo' sure.

Could we have an option in the config to remove the automatic voices in the next release? I would rather my character say nothing at all then switch races with different voices. It is a very good modification, but that part gets on my nerves so much that I am considering removing it.

"2012-09-12 01:44:55 - Error during Tick in script 'Policing.Policing':

System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

at Scripting.?A0xf88de8d2.GetCharCoordinates(Int32 , Single* , Single* , Single* )

at GTA.World.GetPeds(Vector3 Position, Single Radius, Int32 MaxAmount)

at Policing.Policing.Resisting(Object sender, EventArgs e)

at System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e)

at GTA.Script.TryTick()

at GTA.Script.DoTick()

at GTA.ScriptThread.OnTick()"

This looked to crash my game... It crashed when I was aiming at a suspect with resist arrest on. I enjoy the realism of people reacting to a gun pointed at them, but it happened twice. Any ideas?

Hey Braveheart,

Whats going on lately? I heard your in trouble with LCPDFR team???

I'll be releasing another version of the Policing script once it is in a reasonable state. Progress has slowed somewhat.

Trouble?

Hey braveheart, what's going on? The mod was awesome but there were too many bugs and glitches that I had to remove the mod because it was really messing up my game. When are you going to release a newer version of the mod?

No its just that I heard that the LCPDFR team was in an argument with you over the missions that you put in or something along those lines.

Good to hear work is still continuing.

Good Luck

You heard wrong.

We have nothing against Braveheart. We support all third party modification creators. Everyone has to start somewhere and its nice to know people are encouraging you to continue

Right, I just disabled the "resist" in the config and alot of buggy features were removed. For a start, the annoying "GET DAIN GET DAIN" voice no longer occurs when aiming at a ped or hitting them with a baton. Also, you can cleanly arrest someone now. I think this can be a temporary fix to the voices bug, but that is if you can put up without the suspect resisting (I can).

Just a quick update, I've been re-doing the incidents from scratch and testing each one as much as I can as I go along. I've added a little over a dozen so far with plans for a few more before a release. I've also done a fair bit of tweaking to the resisting portion of the script which is working nicely. I've been able to cut down on the amount of script and/or game crashes related to the script and I've attempted to make the script as multiplayer friendly as I can; yet untested though. I've taken on board the feedback I received from the first release and I think you will all enjoy the new version.

I'm still looking for one or two folk who have a LCPDFR series on YouTube who may be interested in making a showcase video for me. Like I said in the other thread - your video will be listed on the download section and in the first post of this thread exposing it - and subsequently your YouTube channel - to a lot of potential viewership.

Let me know via PM if you are interested, please also include a link to your YouTube channel. I have a somewhat workable version ready to be videoed/tested as soon as possible.

Wonderful. Excited to try it out. Have been waiting for a more stable version. Appreciate your effort.

Is there anything to do with the victims of robberies? I notice they just run around and have a blip on the map, then they disappear when I arrest the robber. Do they do anything, or are they just there to show a victim?

Sometimes they'll be lying on the ground dying, so it's always good to check.

There's nothing the script expects from you on any of the incidents as the idea is for you to judge the situation and do what you see fit given the circumstances. I would like to add some random text to stand in as ped's telling you what's happened but it's not as easy as I thought it would be.

hey braveheart are you going to make the calls automatic instead of having to push alt+del for a new callout?

They are automatic until you accept a call (default: Y) they you will have to put yourself back on area/in service once you've wrapped the call up (default: Alt+Delete) to receive more calls.

any ETA on when we can expect a release?

As an estimate I would like to say the end of this month. But it could be sometime in December before I sort all of the nagging bits and pieces out. Every time I add something new and test it, it seems to work fine. Then I'll test everything together and it manages to break itself or another part of the script inexplicably.
