Braveheart's Policing Script [23/11/2012: 2.0 BETA released!]

Featured Replies

The idea with the script is that you would do what you would do if you were an actual police office arriving at the scene of those calls. The mod works best if you use it in conjunction with not only the LCPDFR functions but with other mods, like for example the Police Helper and the recently released coroner mod. If you get a call about a person with a knife and the target does not have one, you should check him for ID, search him etc. If you get called to a scene where there's an injured person you may want to try CPR, then ask them for ID, or if they are dead you might want to call the coroner. Arriving at a traffic accident you should first attempt to remove any dangers to those involved as well as speak to them. This might involve stopping traffic around the scene, deploying barriers or road cones if you have the police helper mod, asking the occupants/forcing them to leave their vehicles if they haven't already, then asking for ID (make sure they have a license) and breathtesting them. If you discover any offences here you might want to arrest them or simply arrest them as if you were taking them back to the station for questioning. If you have the tow mod, you might want to tow the vehicles involved away and then re-open the roads. If you have a shots fired call you might want to radio for backup to meet you at the scene (place a GPS marker on your map at the scene then press alt-B/alt-N and they should meet you there), and then commence the firefight with the suspects.

Once you believe you have dealt with any incident sufficiently, you can close the call by pressing alt-del.

I do not believe the mod is designed to hold your hand and give you a step by step procedure for each scene, and I think it was created this way deliberately. One potential reason for this is that the events are randomised and can become so different. The other major reason of course is that it allows you to roleplay as the first responding officers and make decisions as if you were them. (get it? LCPD: First Response)

Looking at Friday 10th August for the release.

  • Showcase Video is here

  • 2.3 should fix any issues with locations not showing up.  There was also an issue in the previous version where resist arrest would prevent or sometimes crash when LCPDFR arresting, this has been fixe

I'm sorry if I'm bumping this thread, but I wanted to point out something important. Braveheart, I love your script and its features, but the irony is that its working only on my EFLC. On my GTA:IV, as soon as I accept a callout, the script crashes. It just sits there doing nothing if I:

- Don't let the Dispatch acknowledge that I'm willing to respond to the incident (doing nothing)

- Pressing N to let them know I don't want to repsond.

But soon as I accept a callout, the game crashes right away. Dunno whats happening  :wallbash:

Long time lurker, first time poster here....

I just downloaded the 2.0 beta, and it's looking good! I really like the random nature of the calls. I just responded to a breach of peace call. Dude was walking around, seemingly doing nothing. I aimed my Taser at him to breathalyze......and he whipped out a pistol.

He's lucky that I decided to pull out my Taser, and not my USP .45, when I got out of the car!

I tased him once, then twice more after he dropped the gun, (in my version of Liberty City, the 'use of force continuum' is pretty much a suggestion, rather than policy!) and took him into custody.

Thanks, Braveheart, for some great work here!

Same here... can somebody please upload 2.1 or 2.0 ?

Everytime I try to respond shots-fired related calls my game crashes and when I accept a call-out that turns out to be an stabbing.

No offense but bravehearts scripts are very buggy, lots of problems but thats why there "beta" releases

Meant, nothing offensive, he's keeping this community alive just like Abrax, and I'm very thankful, but was just saying nothing is bug proof, but and thats why I said that, and of course its "beta"

2.1 was stable for me.

But yeah, they're beta releases, must be something gone wrong in this release

I was not sure if I should use that word, but came to a conclusion that I should.

I kept checking "Brave's" account if he was online since these posts above were posted, requesting an older version of this mod (since 2.2 is unstable), and he was online several times now, but yet still no reply... ofc, who the F am I to tell people what to do but seriously Brave, if you don't have them files at least leave a reply and tell us to wait for an updated version...

I'm not sure which one exactly - 2.0 or 2.1 (one of them for sure) - ran perfectly for me. Had minor bugs BUT at least it didn't crash my game like 2.2 does. That's why I am (not the only one actually, if you didn't notice) asking for a reupload of older script versions, simple as that.

It's not finished, new releases will have new bugs that the prior version didn't have.

There's a difference between asking for a previous version and calling him ignorant for ignoring messages, it's a beta and here will be a new version unless he decides to stop working on the mod, he doesn't really have to say anything more when he stated that it's a beta.

It doesn't matter god damn it, let it be a beta, gamma, alpha or whatever - older versions were STABLE - period. I don't need any replies from him regarding the progress on this mod, just an older version of the script, which he should have.

I respect him for taking his time and creating this script and I'm not running around here yelling - finish it already, make a new 2.3 or 3.0.

I guess it is selfish for me to call him ignorant, but I don't see the reason why he got online several times in 5 days and didn't drop a single word here. Just leave a reply - don't leave people "hanging".

LilQ, its completely upto him if he wants to reply or not. If he doesn't want to, leave it at that.

And NicolaiB, you're not being any help.

Can you not just find it in your Downloads folder?

I don't how in the earth, but since I installed the METT/Coroner Mod and moved to Alderney I had less crashes than when I patrol Brokes/Dukes,Bohan or Algonquin. There's still some crashes, but they're not so frequent.

The mod seems to be interfering with the LCPDFR mod, whenever there is a suicidal call and you managed to get their put down their gun due to the policing script there is a chance that the person will deny and try to shoot at me but in a glitchy way, then he surrenders and put his hands on his head butt... my partner starts shooting at the person cause it tried to shoot me. He dies, the objective marker still hovering on his body and I got nothing to do left. sorry, I suck at explaining this.

But anyway main thing is, due to the chance of peds resisting arrest it just interferes with the lcpdfr mods. And whole other stuff doesnt work, like telling people to move away and stuff.
