3 Years of LCPDFR

On August 5th 2009, the LCPD First Response mod was officially born when the first trailer video was published on GTAForums.com, featuring the very first version of what is now arguably one of the most popular GTA mods of all time. Now, LCPDFR is about much, much more than the police simulation mod that got the ball rolling almost exactly 3 years ago. Now, LCPDFR is undoubtedly the biggest GTA emergency related community in existence today.

For me, LCPDFR is by far one of my greatest accomplishment in my eighteen years of life. You can interpret that, or look at it, in whatever way you want, but to have built something like this from absolutely nothing to the phenomenon that it is today is honestly such a great feeling and for this reason, I am simply amazingly proud of everything that the team and myself have accomplished. Sure, it's not quite as significant as founding Google or Facebook, but it's still pretty damn cool.

To see for yourself what we have achieved in the past few years, here are some simple statistics.

Our members have:

  • Uploaded just under 1,000 files to the site, which are all available completely free to everyone without the need to sign up to anything at all. These files have been downloaded over half a million times.

  • Made just under 80,000 posts across 16 forum sections. These posts have been viewed over a million times.

  • Uploaded over 5,000 gallery images across 666 albums. These images have been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

  • Called in over 3,000,000 LCPD backup units during gameplay. This has resulted in over 1,800,000 arrests.

The LCPD First Response mod has:

  • Been downloaded over 400,000 times. This makes LCPDFR one the most downloaded GTA IV mods ever.

  • Twice been featured in PC Gamer magazine. As far as we know, no other GTA IV modification has been featured twice like this.

  • Been viewed over 470,000 times on GTAForums.com. This makes LCPDFR the all time most viewed topic in the GTAForums "Mod Showroom" for script mods.

  • Inspired thousands of people to involve themselves with game modifications, computing science, policing and the emergency services.

The LCPDFR.com website has:

  • Since February 22, 2012, been visited by over 220,000 people from 157 different countries.

  • Been visited by over 10 different law enforcement agencies, including the New York Police Department, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

  • Across a number of website ranking services, been estimated to be worth between $5,000 to $15,000.

  • Since February 22, 2012, served over 6 million pageviews.

  • Congrats everybody! Not every community lives this long, especially law-enforcement-related - not the most popular subject nowadays.

  • Congratulations Sam. You really deserve it for creating such a mod that is enjoyed by tens and hundreds of thousands. I am also glad that I met you and can be apart of this sites everlasting growth.

Congrats Sam, Jay, and everyone else.

This place sure has grown. It will be fun to see where we'll be in 2 years (which will be 5 years since it's been founded). Hopefully by then, we'll have a polished LCPDFR, and the beginning of LSPDFR (or SAPDFR) for GTA V.

Cheers everyone!

Congrats Sam and everyone at G17!

Best community, staff, modelers, content and site.

Would love to see this mod grow even bigger than it is already, and expand to next gen GTA games.

who knows. Maybe some day some game publisher would love to have this mod as a standalone game sometime in the future. beating True Crimes, SWAT, 911FR/Emergency4, etc.

Again great job Sam and everyone else involved.

Hot damn! So glad to be part of this community. When I first joined back in 10' I never expected this to grow to be such a large community. The change that has happened is just truly amazing.

Thanks to everyone who's been supporting us and just been along for the ride.

Congratulations to the G17 team. Back when I joined, I never would have dreamed there were so many other law enforcement enthousiasts. You can be very proud of what you achieved since building a community like this from nothing is an astonishing achievement. I wish you all the best of luck.

Gives me a proud feeling to be part of that community. Let's hope for many more years to come. Can't wait for the latest version.

This mod was only reason why i bought GTA IV to my computer. I have gta iv in xbox 360 but the mod makes the game much more fun. Im old Police quest fan if u can remember that game back 1990`s. They dont make any good old cop games anymore. This mod beats even the Sierra Swat series. just good old police work thats what i love about this mod. THANK U MOD TEAM!!!!! Im Finnish so sorry for my typos.

I'd just like to say a massive thank-you to both the staff here as well as the members that keep this site going. I know that I am one of the many that actually bought GTA IV for this incredible mod, and since then, it has continued to develop into something amazing. It's everyone here that keeps this site and project going, and I think we can all agree that this mod deserves to be (and probably is) the best of them all.

Not only has this mod provided me with such a great addition to my games collection (and believe me, I regard LCPDFR as a new game entirely), but the other members here have inspired me to widen my skills in GTA modding. It's thanks to you guys that this community has gotten so big, and so many people are becoming such great additions to the modding community. I joined somewhat later than some of the others that are here, but this community has a certain feel to it which makes me want to stay. The last three years worth of effort have certainly shown, with the mod progressing much more than I am sure any of us could ever have imagined. Which makes me wonder, What is in store for us next? The anticipation each time that countdown appears is so overwhelming, but such an amazing feeling ever.

I'm really happy to be a part of this community, and look forward to the surprises and magic that will come in the upcoming years. Congratulations to everyone that is involved here, not only the dev team, but the staff and the members as it is all of you guys that have helped turn this site into what it is today.........

Excellent work Sam. I just bought GTA4 a few months ago JUST FOR LCPDFR...I stumbled across some people's Youtube vids playing it and HAD to have it. I have never nor do I have any interest in playing GTA4 itself.

You have done great work! Continue to ignore any haters. You are very talented and have accomplished a LOT. PLUS, as you said-this is all FREE!

This would actually make a great stand-alone sim...I hope you consider that so you can finally get PAID.

Anyway, great work and thank you!!!
