Hi all. Have had my eye on this mod for a while. With GTA V on sale on Steam right now, I am curious if that is the best version to get? Is there any issues with Steam updating the game and causing problems with LSPDFR? If that's the case, is there another platform that sells GTA V for PC? Maybe GTA V isn't updated that often anymore so it's not really an issue?

This!, I would get a non steam version just because of that alone!. Any LSPDFR player knows how bad Steam screws up your installation and compatibility with repetitive and pointless updates. There are probably hundreds of GTA V - LSPDFR players all waiting right now for a Script Hook V update, all because they own V on Steam and Steam auto-updates their programs without asking you. 😠

ok. just got it off Steam anyways. thanks for the info! any must have addons? not worried about skins and cars right now but anything that makes things much better? I see the 'Arrest' one is popular.

Just use the backup feature that RPH offers. Of course this requires you to have created the backup prior to the Steam update, so it won't help you this time around - but go create a backup now so you will be covered for the inevitable future GTA V updates.

I actually have a non updated backup of the .rph backup file, however RPH just tells me to verify the integrity of the game cache with steam when I go to revert game version. It seems to do nothing for me. 😞

Have you tried verifying the game files and then using the backup file? Also try to disable your antivirus and then launch RPH. AVG in particular doesn't seem to like RPH for some odd reason.

I have this problem yesterday, I ended up reinstalling the game (a real pain in the A$$) because I didn't back up the game correctly. Anyways, my question is, right now I wont be able to use LSPDFR untill the updated version of ScriptHook apper? Yes, I got it on Steam and did't have a problem untill now.

Nah, LSPDFR and all of your Plugins will work fine. It's just scripts and other things in your " Scripts " folder will not load or work properly. You can still play LSPDFR and from what I tested all of my plugins and call out packs seem to work properly on the new version.

Retail does this to ya too, unless you can get the offline mode to work! 🙂

Using the Steam version is perfectly fine, all you need to do is make a copy of your GTA V folder, and when a update comes, swap it out with your modded folder, let it update, and swap it back..done.  You also just need to change the settings for steam games so it only updates manually.

As Will said the retail (or Socailclub version) Still makes you update. It's not an easy thing to escape. I've just learnt to deal with it.
