Plus I'm not sure they could get the same level of universality that a mod developed by a third party can offer. A R* owned solution would likely have to fit within GTAV meaning us folk who don't always use american vehicles would be forced to do so.

I agree. Ultimately I think R* and T2 getting involved would restrict creative freedom and put more pressure on big mod developers like the LSPDFR team.

And they would likely heavily lock it into their GTA:O mechanics, meaning heavy level restrictions and general upset for all.

The least they could do is document their formats for the community. Then we wouldn't have to wait years for people like the OpenIV team to decode them, or be reliant on money grabbers like the ZMod developer.

Well to change the tone of this thread in other news I have deleted my GTA V directory and am re-downloading a clean fresh install ready for the magnificent 0.4 to be released so I am ready to go and then all I have to do is install my cars, peds uniforms and or any mods like albo's etc that still work with 0.4 or wait for new/updates to existing mods to be released and add them when available personally I am a little disturbed however with all the complaining and hate for @Sam @LMS and the rest of the team @lspd:fr development team this mod will be an amazing release of the latest edition that many however will join me in agreeing has brought many thousands of us so much joy in hours of rp gaming, and I for one am simply thrilled that they take their time unpaid to make this mod for us and am eager to enjoy this next version like so many of you but PLEASE BARE IN MIND IT'S A FEBRUARY RELEASE WINDOW AND IT STILL IS FEBRUARY SO BE PATIENT!

For a long time oleg held the monopoly on software/tools used to manipulate files for a couple of games (GTA/ETS citation needed?). That changed for ETS when SCS released their own tools. Oleg's prices for zmodeler are pretty extortionate which is a shame as its a near must for modelling and conversion.

Can't you just release the mod broken and full of bugs? It works for E.A and they're not dead yet...

It's a nightmare, but until he relinquishes the monopoly, which i doubt, or until someone does all the hard work to create an alternative, there's nothing we can do.
