Strikes in Syria

Featured Replies

A couple hours ago, the United States, along with France and the United Kingdom, have launched airstrikes over different locations near the Syrian capital, Damas, allegedly targeting facilities and storages for chemical weapons after the discovery of a chemical attack in a Syrian town. Russia, faithful ally of the Al Assad, current Syrian president, has already declared that this attack won't be without consequences.

To be noted that these airstrikes have been performed without the congress/parliament authorization of any of the three involved countries, without UN approval or mandate, a day before investigators of the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) arrived to Syria to investigate the situation, disregarding people's disapproval concerning this decision and without any concrete proof chemical agents were used (and now most likely destroyed by the airstrikes if they were actually real).

So dumb. Assad did not use those chemical weapons. More false flag attacks to get ol' Team America to come in and clean up the trash. We were already fighting a proxy war with Russia there using Islamic dummies against each other. Why would he use chemical weapons on the last remaining fighters that already surrendered?. As a Donald J. Trump supporter and Voter this is completely stupid in my opinion and does nothing to benefit or protect the United States. The globalist got to Donald and now he is going to continue the same stupid program we have been doing. Fight in the middle east for no reason with a bunch of savages even though it will change nothing. So sad, in reality we should just turn everything in the far east into Glass with a bomb, but this toy soldiers game is so stupid. We have already lost American Lives in Syria and now more will be lost. Chlorine gas my ass, but it's funny all it takes is a few kids coughing up foam and siezuring on TV and EVERYONE wants to go to war. So hilariously stupid. The Israeli war lobby is laughing, funny how the US will do anything it's little baby Israel says. Being used again, and nobody seems to care. Defend OUR country, not aid others in destroying somebody else's!.

Not really morally or ethically acceptable to bomb the entire area. I agree with some things you say, but I think you take it a little too far on the other parts. The world does not only exist of Americans, nor does it only exist of Russians or any other ethnicity, race or culture. We are on this earth together and whether you like it or not, the actions of 1 man or country have consequences for other men or countries. I think Trump is right when he wants to put America first. He represents the people from the US so those should be his first priority. However, America first doesn't mean there's no second or third. It means there's still international relations. Things like chemical, nuclear or biological weapons are absolutely unacceptable and of course there should be a response to that. United States can't keep themselves away from that.

However, the response that they gave last night was a joke. Western countries are once again failing to show proof of who did it. Nope, instead there's a "high probability" that Syria did it. Where did I hear that before? Oh right, the Skripal case in the UK. There's a high probability that Russia did it. Russia meanwhile has been offering their help countless times to figure out what actually happened. UK meanwhile keeps slamming the door in their face again and again.

I think it was reckless and pointless to bomb. France, UK and US basically laid our lives in the hands of Russia, who said they'd attack the launching places of the missiles they fired on Syria. We all know what it means when a country attacks another country who is member of NATO.

I am not pro-russia nor pro-america. I just try to look at things from an objective point of view and lay down some theories (based on facts). Not saying this is my belief.

I hate how Western governments have a shoot first, ask questions later attitude. This was reckless, Russian troops in Syria only further complicates this. Guess we haven't learned from our mistakes in Iraq 2003, what WMDs did we seize again?

Welcome to the Cold War 2.0.

Exactly, we are taking this from unnecessary proxy war with militants, to using our direct forces. I have friends and family in the service and it's honestly frustrating to see this god damned cycle repeat itself over and over. And I'm not even 30.  We all know that my rights and freedoms as an American are not at risk just because some kids were chlorine and saren gassed in the middle east. The strikes are stupid and any further action, such as Canada's "brilliant" PM Trudeau convincing Trump to commit forces to the area as well. For now it's just bombs and missiles and some ground to air AA. What comes next is not a joke and i pray that a peaceful resolution can be negotiated and had.

What about USA who used Agent Orange in Vietnam?

Or the Halabja Massacre Preformed by Saddam, or even the Japanese use of mustard gas and Lewisite against the Chinese.  Or even the Chinese supplying the Albanians chemical weapons in the 70's.  And don't forget about the Portuguese using it in Angola.

Chemical weapons are horrid and unacceptable and those who give the go ahead for it should be tried for crimes against humanity.

The USA also used uranium ammunition and Phosphorous in Iraq and Afghanistan and white phosphorus munitions in Dresden 1945 and Iraq

DU carries no proof that it causes birth defects, cancer or anything else but when it is used in munitions, you get extremely dence metal that is used for armor piercing rounds.  WP was used by the U.S. "AGAINST ENEMY" positions and to create smoke screen's to cover the movement of troops.

Do not forget that the U.S. is not the only military in the world to use WP.  And if you really want to go there then I will start to name off the horrid things that the Germans did, the Belgium's did and the Russians did.

You are going to keep spewing thing's that every other U.S. hating tool wants to spew without acknowledging what other countries have done and I will be here to it out.

DO SOME RESEARCH!

Then mention more than stuff that the U.S. had done or used and stop pointing the finger solely on the U.S.

I think the initial point they were trying to make was that US is now trying to play the good guy, bombing countries that use chemical weapons, but that they haven't been so good either.

Anyway, Russians claim to have identified 17 people that are supposedly dead. Interesting fact is that they're bringing them to OPCW HQ in The Hague... ALIVE. At least 7 of them are clearly identifiable as being in the video, being a victim of the attack. (Source: https://nos.nl/artikel/2228854-rusland-syrische-doden-uit-nepvideo-douma-komen-naar-den-haag.html Dutch National News, big time pro-western. In Dutch but tweet speaking for itself.). If this is true, that means US, UK and FRA have a lot of explaining to do.

I may appear a bit biased, but I definitely with you on the Skripal case. Yep, smuggle a top-secret neural gas to one of the most secure countries on Earth to kill a traitor to make a statement... by the gas that is not supposed to be traced back to Russia as it's top secret... and somehow they survived... because apparently UK hospitals store antidots for Soviet top secret gases... just in case...

Nevermind, it's off the topic.

On the topic I say, honestly, I believe in 'chemical weaponry'. Imagine, Assadian army is fighting a decentralized force which holes up in basements, trenches, underground structures (plenty of that in Eastern cities) etc. Clearing all those places is nearly impossible, so Assadians opt to use chlorine to force them away. Not an impossible scenario at all. And I doubt they really care about chemical attacks as much as Europeans do and this is not a big deal for them but a nice cause for other countries to stir the pot and show who's the boss.

Shit, I'd hate to die in the nuclear fire just because some Syrian guys can't storm a basement of a 400 y.o. shed in the desert.

Exactly. It just doesn't add up. And then the investigation reports remain classified. So the OPCW (The swiss lab is part of OPCW) won't ever inform the people about it. Only the governments, who are obviously trying to handpick whatever they like from the report, but leaving out a lot. That all in order to create 1 big enemy: Russia. Fear is one of the few ways to emotionally influence people by a lot. Creating a common very dangerous enemy in the east gets things done. Sad to see this evolving :/

It's indeed not an imposssible scenario, eventhough it's still morally and ethically unacceptable to do so. But it looks like no chemical weapon was used at the first place. IF Russia is able to indeed prove those people are the people from the video.
