Ekalb's Thread of Unimpressive Mods

I'm currently having a collision issue with the glass on the S/M Buffalo. See this pic:

I've shot where the reticule is but the bullet impact appears on the lower side of the glass (where it is showing). If I shoot elsewhere on the glass it doesn't make an impact at all, unless it's right near the top. I've got a few suggestions to try and I might see if just replacing all the glass with the right files from the original will fix it. Do any other modders have any other suggestions?

While I've been trying to fix this issue I've also been making this lightbar, including the LED message board on the back (which works with indicators like my other traffic advisors!):

Okay I fixed most of the collision issues that were holding the S/M Buffalo and the S/M Cruiser back (can't get any type of collisison mesh to work for the lightbar unfourtunately), hopefully I'll have at least the Buffalo up over the weekend and the Cruiser up before the end of next week.

Edit:

Slicktop/Mx7000 Buffalo is now available

As always, please let me know if there any issues that need to be resolved. If there is anything immediate (I'm pretty sure I included all the files in the download package this time ) I'll be asleep for another 9 hours or so, so you'll have to tough it out until then.

Ekalb, could you explain something to me? I keep throwing money at screen when looking at your Buffalo, but nothing happens...

But seriously, that Buffalo is awesome! What are your plans now?

And also, would it be possible to have more than 4 liveries?

Awesome work mate. It'll fit well in my police fleet.

The traffic advisor bar is a neat idea, excluding the fact that only half of the part would be visible on AI cruisers while taking a turn, which would seem unrealistic.

I'll be trying to release the lightbar I've been working on with the non-els messageboard, probably just on it's own in the development section here rather than on a vehicle, or maybe both, and then I'll consider doing the slicktop/mx7000 setup for the Vapid if there's interest.

I don't think the game will spawn more than four liveries. I've never tried it myself but I'd find it hard to believe if for all these years the modding community had just settled on four as an arbitrary number of liveries with no one trying to use more. I'd love to be wrong though.

Although I agree with you to a limited extent about how it looks a bit awkward when some of the indicator-mapped traffic advisor bars are used just by AI using their indicators, I think the benefits that we can get from the added functionality they provide (with other mods) outweighs that. Depending on what pattern (texture) I have installed on the vehicle I'm using, I may use the strobes mod during a pursuit so the traffic advisor bar is flashing as a caution to other drivers, or I may use the indicator mod during a traffic stop to display a flashing arrow for other traffic to go around, or use the hazard lights feature so the entire bar is flashing to cordon off an area (see this video for what uses they can have:

).

I can see indicator-mapped traffic bars as providing something to non-els users that would have typically been exclusive to ELS users, and hopefully the lightbar I've just about finished will give more of that extra functionality and enhanced experience.

Thtas a valid point you got there. Keep it up.

Can I toss in a request for a Tahoe-styled, Police Landstalker with Vector and for MX-7000/Slicktop Vincent?

Also, is there a limit for indicator lights? If no, could it be possible to make a LED lightbar out of traffic advisor like bars and use it with strobes mod?

Be patient. That's a project that is already well underway.

Pretty much I can have indicator_lr, indicator_rr, indicator_lf and indicator_rf and have any mesh attached to them. I tried to see if the game would recognise indicator_m but it didn't. With the current LED message board I have, the part attached to the left indicator says 'LCPD' and the part attached to the right indicator says 'RBT >' so that acting them individually still makes sense and activating them together works well too. I'll post some screenshots up when I get a chance.

The challenge here though is finding patterns that will work like that. Although it would be easy to make just one word go across the entire message board (like 'CAUTION') the problem is that it wouldn't look very good if activated only one side at a time (it might say CAU when you have the left indicator only activated). This is less of a problem if I use symbols (so I might have arrows going either way for example) but finding word combinations required a bit more creativity.

As for the other projects, we'll see. Hopefully I should get some more things up over the next few weeks.

Can you send me the download for the cops w/ the bp vests? Thanks! Good work by the way.

I also recommend you to use for it (Shameless self-advertising FTW!)

Ekalb, thanks for your amazing mods! I've never seen anything better than your works for non-ELS...

By the way, a small question: is that possible to put a single rotating beacon behind the windshield in unmarked CVPI?
