How to get a manual "whoop" siren sound?

Featured Replies

Watchig the video below, I noticed a sound, which sounded like to me that someone was hitting the MANUAL siren button. (I know on the Federal Signal SS2000 & the SS2000sm you hit the MAN button for a quick wail until midway thru the siren until you release)

@ 0:34. Can anyone tell me how to get that into the game? I would really appreciate it.

The best way to show what I want is thru this (actual siren) video {I don't want the siren, but the MANUAL tone} starting @ 0:47 <--- that is what I really want & as I said before, I would really appreciate it if I was able to change the siren to be able to do that [besides for sounding sweet & authentic]

In the video, he replaced the airhorn with a manual tone. Just like in this video:

I think it's easier to just tap the horn button. When I'm driving with lights only, and arrive at the intersection, I just spam the h button, resulting in the same thing.

Just tapping it? I tried that, & i do that, but thats not what i wanted

How do you do that? & is it possible to get the manual tone to last longer? (such as in the actual siren video I posted)

Just try tapping the default siren key, which is "G". You can do that, or tap "G" and wait until the wail gets to its highest pitch, and then turn it off. At least, that's the way I do it.

BTW, I've heard A.I. police vehicles use the manual siren when driving around the city. What's up with that?

I do that too. & about the A.I. police using them, I have no idea, but its pretty shitty if you ask me, letting them use it, but not the player? GTA IV - 0 Player - 1

It's not the manual siren, they are just using their horn, and I guess they made it like, they could use the siren too, not just the horns. Also notice how ai police never use airhorn.

I have heard them honk the airhorn. In fact less then 30 minutes ago I was playing & I could have sworn I heard a cop honk his airhorn with the sirens on

Aren't you talking about ambient noises? I think that's part of the city noise. The ai cops don't use their airhorns.

No, the cop was driving with his sirens half a block away & I hear it loud & clear.

The AI police play 1 second snippets of the regular siren as "manual" mode, when the player runs a red light or such in front of them.

Ah.Well that explains that, but what about the air horn i heard? he had the sirens on already (& the cop wasnt dead in the car)

I heard it too, during a pursuit; one of the AI cops used his airhorn during the pursuit. It may have indeed been a response to me running a red, though. I'd be nice to have a normal siren with some of the other modes randomly inserted.

I remember that PPM made the AI always use the air horn, but it gets annoying.

No, I didn't go thru a red light, in fact I was pulling into Auto Erioticar's parking lot to make a U-Turn.

Yes, the AI cops and paramedics do use the airhorn, but at specific instances. For example, when in pursuit or if something is blocking their path while their lights are on, the AI will use the airhorn. However, if you block them, jump on their car, etc. when they are just driving around, then they use the "regular" car horn.

By the way, does anyone know the name of the file within the horns.ivaud file that corresponds to the "regular" horn of the police cars? I want to change that to the airhorn sound as well so that everytime they honk, they use the airhorn. If you use SNT and turn on the car alarm while in a police car, then you hear the airhorn. But as soon as you step out of it, the alarm uses the "regular" horn. I find the police cars to use two different horns to be annoying.
