Looking to buy a PC to play LSPDFR and the Sims 4- need help to know what to get.

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a pc to be able to play LSPDFR and the sims 4.. I have an issue with knowing what to buy since I'm new to the gaming pc world. I'm just used to PS4 and Xbox. Is there anyway one of you could help me know what to buy? I'd like to get the best stuff for the best deal I can. Thanks!

Jackie

If you've a local PC store near you, ask them - You'll get a pretty good response there.

Also, this is a very common question: You should find an answer on our forums by using the search button.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

You don't need the best stuff on the market either you can get fairly good stuff to run those games.

Here's a tip :) Don't go to bestbuy to ask for help, they will say you should buy their "pre-built" PC's which are toasters they threw together. An I5 3rd gen+ and a GTX 970 with 16gb of ram will suit your needs :D

you probably wanna get one that is pretty good in specs. As games are evolving you dnt wanna buy one for example with a 970gtx and later on you wanna play newer games but your graphics card wont handle the modern games and then your going to have to upgrade to a better graphic card like a 1070 or 1080 basically invest your money wisely you dnt wanna buy the same things again in 6 months because you fell behind in technology

Might be best to ask on /r/buildapc just let them know exactly what games you'll be playing, what settings you desire and they'll do the rest. I personally have an i7 6700k, GTX 1070 with 16GB  DDR4 ram but that's overkill just for GTA and Sims 4. Upon saying that, it'll keep you set for a little while. You could go with an i5, 1070 and 16GB ram and be fine.

It was already mentioned multiple times, but scince it is really important, I want to clarify that.

NEVER buy a prebuild PC. You will always have higher costs with that. Those offers in electronic markets or something like that always seem to be good on the first look but useually they arent.

I am pretty sure, there are online stores that also build the PC. Use forums, talk with others, and find out what parts you want. Go on their website, select your parts. Building it yourself is no sorcery, but I can imagine you dont want to do it if you are new to the topic. So pay 30€/$ or whatever it is more and let the shop build the PC; they can even preinstall and OS and testrun it. And you will get shipped an PC with your chosen parts that is definitly more cost efficient than anything prebuild.

If they're the games you're looking at running the focus the main of your budget on your GPU.

I'd recommend against this, from what I've heard floating around the MS insider community they are planning on rolling out an update August this year which will require a CPU that is 4th generation or higher (4790 series and above) apparently the way Windows gives CPU instructions is going to change but only the the later CPU's (Loosely used) will support it.

"It will allow much better thunderbolt compatibility and give the possibility of an external GPU on laptops a much more realistic chance of working". - MS Dev I can't say name of

Also, get an SSD. Hard drives are Sooooo 2007.
