Sgtnicko got a reaction from OatesyHD in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0Generally wail tones are deigned to reach larger distances due to larger wavelengths. This makes them much more effective at travelling distances . However, the larger the wavelength the harder it is to project the sound in all directions of the truck as it will mainly travel in the direction the siren is facing.
Yelp on the other hand is a much shorter wavelength and travels all around the truck due to the nature of the sound waves being smaller and therefore creating constructive interference which makes the yelp sound much louder from all directions for example; the side of the truck, compared to the wail which works better in a straight-line at long distances.
Because of that generally wail is designed for alerting moving vehicles on the road which are in front of the truck and yelp is designed for approaching and moving through an area when you need to be heard from all directions such as an intersection where the sound waves would travel efficiently in every direction except behind the truck.
However, normally it's easier to just operate both at the same time in some situations.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaNow for a bit of an official update.
I've done some evaluation today of what has been completed and what hasn't these are the most accurate and realistic percentage estimates I have.
Vehicles Textures : 84%
World Object Textures : 51%
Building Textures : 20%
Road and Mesh : Not Started and needs to be looked into.
The project is still going. It's not at a rocket pace.... however, it's still moving along. If anyone else is looking to help please let me know.
So far the plan for distribution is going to be a DLC.rpf that can be added on or an OIV package. Something like installer-shield was looked at however this option doesn't seem viable at this time.
Thanks,
Sgt Nicko

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0Oh no it's back from the dead.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0We already have a project going that will Australianize (Know it's not a word) GTA.
You're welcome to help. Take Two Int. seemed to have learned their lesson after the whole Open-IV debarkle.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaNot quite up to individual state vehicles yet but I'll contact you when we are.
Cheers.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaOkay,
So I've done some evaluating in the last few hours and I'm happy to get a few others to help with the project.
I especially need help with Ped models as I have no clue how to do that.
If you're interested please contact me. Credit will be given for each developer that helps.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaI'm watching this space.
-
Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaYeah,
I was thinking of doing it like that too.
I'm thinking setting up a 'Base pack' of sorts like Orbx for FSX. Then creating other packs that go over it.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaOkay so,
This will come as a surprise to most of you!
As most of you know this project has been very quiet for the last 9 or so months and most of you probably think it's dead, I've intentionally kept it quiet because I didn't know if was something I would be able to finish.
However, I've been slowly and steadily working on it and it's slowly getting there and I'm now at 4.46 Gigs worth of High-Definition textures of world objects and such.
THIS IS NOT ME SAYING THE PROJECT IS FINISHED. I'm simply saying it's a big task and hasn't been forgotten.
What I would like to however know as I'm beginning to approach areas that differ from state to territory to state.
However, I need opinions on how it's going to work, the file download is large so it will more than likely be hosted on a personal server.
Things I would like to know:
Would people like separate packs for each state and territory? Would people like the download to have a magnet for torrent clients? Would people like the installation method to be a DLC.rpf or an OIV package? If people would like separate packs I'll probably need some helpers after I figure out a way which I can track everything.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions please throw them in. I'll do my best to get back to everyone.
Thanks,
SgtNicko

Sgtnicko reacted to Darkmyre in [WIP] Grand Theft Auto: AustraliaPersonally I'd prefer an RPF to an installer. If a lot of it is going to be common across each state, maybe two RPF's - one for the common files, and a smaller one for the state-specific, that way you're not duplicating the 4+gigs for each state/territory.

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0Some days when I spawn it, there's a game crash, somedays it spawns normally, then somedays it spawns but extras 8 and 9 don't exist.
I'd probably just say its something dodgy on my end haha.
-
Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0You're generally installing them incorrectly.
Apart from the tanker.... that one seems to just decide if it wants to work on a day by day basis but it's still one of the best models released.
-
Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0Okay,
It's not that we don't allow you to use them.
Most of us will allow you to use them providing you ask for permission, it just helps to keep track of what models are being used where and there's also a few added rules when models are added onto FiveM servers.
Unfortunately some people like to take credit for the work of others and that's a major reason that the models cannot be used without permission on other servers which the owner may have no affiliation with.
It's not because we don't like you but we just want to protect our work.
Hope that improves your understanding

Sgtnicko got a reaction from OblongGaming in LSPDFR Australia Discussion Thread 2.0If it's the one I'm thinking of I've already done a SAPOL livery for it.
Have a few new skins on the release shelf. Any chance of a 20 Series during the holidays?
