PC Crash help

Featured Replies

Lately my PC has been crashing on me. I can be doing anything when this happens but the screen turns into vertical black and grey lines ad then 5 seconds later what ever sound there was will turn into a looping buzz. Not sure where else to go for this but any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently took out my extra sticks of ram thinking that was what the problem was but apparently not. My ram on the other hand would give me a BOSD unlike what is happening now. Lastly to save my computer from lagging at start up I have to go into task manager and end the DWM.exe process, does anyone else have this problem? Again any help would be appreciated.

I can not exactly say the frequency of it happening because it has happened across the board and has only happened maybe 5 times?

This sounds like overheating. A screen with black and grey / black and white lines is windows telling you your PC is hot.. and I mean hot.

Check for overheating. Check for dust build up inside the case and around the fans, particularly around the CPU and GPU.

Have you recently updated any drivers?

What version of windows are you running?

My computer will lag until I go into task manager and end the DWM.exe process, does anyone else have this problem? Seems that this is a windows 10 thing?

Download a program called speccy, and take a screenshot of the summary page, It'll tell us what your system temps are at.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

Here you go. I've also attached a photo of my systems fan control program that shows temperatures. The temperatures there are at the time of posting.

Seems to be happening more often. And a "Darkmyre.Common" folder just appeared in my plugins folder?

That's a third party plugin: http://www.lcpdfr.com/profile/27121-darkmyre/?do=content&type=downloads_file&change_section=1

Either 'Agency Callouts' or 'Passive Radar'. If this is happening in GTA V only, start be removing all mods. All of them. Run the game, and see if it works. If it does, add LSPDFR only. Run it. If that works, start adding mods back one by one until you find what mod is causing the problem.

If this is an issue that affects your whole OS or other games, it is likely an OS issue which means you'll need to backup your data and reformat your PC. That would fix any software irregularities. The only other advice I can give to you is to do a couple of malware/virus scans before taking drastic measures. Try whatever A/V you're running, plus Malwarebytes.

Can you hit the "Windows Button + R" combo, type in msinfo32, then save the file, and either post it here or message it to me? I'd love to help, I have an extensive background working with stuff like this.

It must be something with my os then. I'll run some security and if nothing else, wait for a service pack from windows.

I'd say it is something with your OS or with a driver if you get the error a lot. If you could take a picture of your BSOD error with your phone or something that would be a HUGE troubleshooting help!

I'm assuming about your CPU being overclocked to 4.00 Ghz. As far as I can share, overclocking caused GTA V to crash me on the blue screen pretty regularly. I solved my problem when I went to the BIOS and set the CPU to defaults.

That's the base clock for the CPU. 4.0GHz is standard for the 4790k

This time when it happened the lines on the screen lasted for about 5 seconds until I received a BSOD stating "Stop Code" "Memory Management" Looks like this is all ram related even though I have 16 GB of it.. Time to investigate and possibly pull out the wallet.
