I'm a big fan of realism, and I recently have started replacing as much as I can with their real-life equivalents. I've replaced most of all the badges on every car in the game with their corresponding badge in RL, and also building textures and billboards with real ads and companies (Airport, Downtown Hollywood) etc. But, I have noticed a recent boost in popularity for GTA related mods, like the SAHP Building, SAHP cars, Los Santos Coroner van, etc., and this sparked a debate. Realism, or the lore of the game? Essentially this is California or San Andreas?

There are great mods supporting both sides as seen by these links

(DISCLAMER: these are not all of the ones I like, I don't want to riddle this post with pics/links)

California:http://imgur.com/a/6ope0#0

My decision is ultimately up to the community, so go vote on what I should do and I will definitely do it!

BTW I WILL GIVE THIS POST 24HRS BEFORE I MAKE MY (YOUR) DECISION.

Its up to each person really. some people play it realistic (so changing things to California), while others like to keep things fictional. For me personally, i like my game to be a bit of both. I prefer fictional things like LSPD,LSSD etc but with real life cars. Unless it's Australian mods, then i like to switch my cars to Australian models. That's how i did things in GTA IV. Although, right now in GTA V.. i'll keep things to San Andreas themed.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

I never understood people using their real life equivalents. I always go with the lore of GTA. That being said, especially with IV, I did use real cars. That doesn't bother me, but the whole Liberty City to NY or San Andreas to LA irked me for some reason. Also, these games aren't set up to be realistic. They will always seem cartoony or fake, so why bother? And my last little thing is, you have to replace so much (audio, textures, models) to make it realistic. That can bog down someones computer and it's too much work lol.

Steam/PSN: MikoFiticus, Origin: Admira1Snackbarr. Feel free to add me, I play lots of games!

I prefer to keep things GTA-themed but I'd surely try out a California-based mod which replaced everything to make it realistic but only to try it out really. I would do my story mode and LSPDFR with GTA-themed San Andreas :)

Well its been 24 hrs and sticking to the flow of the game has won! that's for the feedback and I will only use mods that stick to the games "rules" from now on!

Whenever modding my game or creating textures/assembling models, I'd always use real cars based on real departments but I'd edit the department name to fit into the game's lore. Some examples of this would be (regarding GTA IV) "Liberty County Police", "Liberty County Sheriff", "Liberty City Police", etc. I've only put out textures for real departments when someone has requested that I do so.

...A little late but better than never, right?

I choose (and create, mostly) the game-lore mods (nice that you used my SAHP building preview screenshot), and I call this "game realism" because game is a game and the reality is reality. R* wanted to make their own virtual world and they succeded, although they used real life cities, buildings, brands, cars, etc. San Andreas is not just a virtual state, it's a living virtual state! And I love it!

Each to their own. Personally I adopt a Hybrid Approach. Real Life Vehicles, but with Lore Friendly Skins. This means LCPD/NLPD, instead of NYPD, LSPD instead of LAPD, etc.
