  1. 1. What should be the future of G17 Media's development of the PDFR series?

I'm interested to see what LCPDFR people think about the future of the PDFR series. Now that we have LSPDFR, what's gonna happen to LCPDFR? More to the point, what does the community think SHOULD happen to LCPDFR?

Personally, I'm in the "devote equal resources to both" camp. Whilst I'm sure there are plenty of great things about LSPDFR, LCPDFR has one heck of a lot more users, has one heck of a lot more submods, and generally - for my money, at least - is better than having to buy a new game (GTA V) and then get LSPDFR working on that. (Despite all the crashes LCPDFR seems to produce...)

What do you guys think?

LSPDFR is better and much more stable, and therefor I believe it is the future.

More mods and vehicles will follow eventually, but what the team has accomplished already with LSPDFR is really outstanding! I still play LCPDFR though, but I believe that no further resources should be led towards the development of LCPDFR as it had its long run and it's now time to shift focus on a new engine that offers more functionality and stability.

I did not buy GTA V (yet) due to my personal dislike of their marketing-strategy, pricing and update-policy but I plan on doing so once the prices are dropping to a fair level.

Honestly, I think the team should devote all its resources and energy to LSPDFR. GTA IV has run its course and frankly is a buggy mess when it comes to do with anything mod related. It's actually remarkable that anyone was able to even produce mods on that sad excuse of a PC port, so I tip my hat to everyone who made some of the mods that are out there and to have it functioning to a degree of enjoyability. However that said, GTA IV is a bug ridden trash heap in comparison to GTA V and its modding capabilities. I, and many others have been able to actually play well over an hour with absolutely zero crashes, bugs or unwanted side effects by playing LSPDFR. That and I've been able to play well over an hour with multiple mods from other plugins, as well as texture and general improvement mods and still have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

Keep in mind that LCPDFR up until its most recent update was at one point in time in its infancy, that said with it being in its infancy it was a mess (not the mod itself, GTA IV as a whole because it was a bug infested game to produce mods on), with LSPDFR in its infancy it has been remarkably stable and playable right from the get go, something that LCPDFR lacked and will never have no matter how much coding and updating goes into it, it's just the game itself that it was developed on.

No one really has a say in what resources go where in the development of either mod, but I think the team's time, energy and resources would definitely be better allocated to a game that actually had stable modding potential and didn't cause one headache after another.

Hey hey hey hey, what the hell man! GTA IV was a buggy piece of shit. LCPDFR was marvelous :)

gta iv wasn't THAT bad in the end, granted it wasn't well optimized. but i mean, i really didn't crash at all even during lengthier sessions if i just played it like it's supposed to be played - it only starting becoming a really messy situation once i threw mods in the mix.

LSPDFR is light years better, mainly because California is a better setting for a game than New York. Also LSPDFR is reliable. There are crashes, but so less frequent it's not even comparable. Anyone who used .95RC w/ ELS 6.1 + vehicle texture replacements knows what I'm talking about. You were lucky to get 10 minutes into a game without a CTD. Also, the stock police cars are very good. I don't really need to replace them anytime soon. A Crown Vic and a Charger available in unmarked/marked is enough for me.

I personally think that LSPDFR is the future here. It has been 5 years (I think) since LCPDFR was first released and while a lot of amazing mods from different categories like vehicles, scripts and enhancements etc have been made, GTA IV on PC is just a joke of a port for me which is a shame. GTA V on PC however is definitely more optimized and having played a number of LSPDFR gaming sessions, I've hardly had any crashes but maybe once or twice and that's purely down to the mod itself. It's quite amazing how stable LSPDFR is though in it's early versions compared to LCPDFR so really it is a step forward.
