Xbox now able to support PC modifications..

Featured Replies

So I'm unsure if this has already been talked about or not but I read an article from E3 and in particular Microsoft explaining that the Xbox One will soon be able to support PC modifications and I was wondering if that means that in the future LSPDFR would be playable on Xbox One. Below is a a page suggesting GTA V may be on the support list...

Anyone have any further news or comments?

Given the amount of money and effort MSFT spent on trying to lure gamers (and game creators) to XBox and destroying the PC platform, I personally won't develop anything for it.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

The developers of the games will have too work with microsoft for this too work so the only game I know about right now is Fallout 4 which will support mods on pc,xbox, and ps4.

Rockstar will never technically support mods so you shouldn't expect GTA 5 mods coming too the xbox one. It would be cool but I don't expect it from rockstar unless they totally block you from going online while you have mods enabled.

Well you really would have no choice because it would be just like the pc mods no converting needed for it too work on the xbox.

This is just wrong. It might work for file modifications, but anything that goes beyond, like scripts will of course need to be adjusted to the platform. This is because script hooks directly use the game's memory and many mods (and the hooks as well) use platform specific functions (Win API).

maybe for playstation but for xbox it will be running a modified version of windows 10 with dx12 so as long as the pc game is just like the xbox game then you wouldnt have too convert scripts and such. Not saying you wouldnt have to convert for GTA V because i only know what the pc files look like i have no idea how the xbox files are setup. Some hoe microsoft has implemented this in too the xbox one with fallout 4.(also playstation)

Hm that's actually pretty interesting, but given the bad performance you have on XBox games already (compared to PC), I'm not sure how well it will handle games running on Windows 10 then. But we'll see I guess :)

I for one haven't had a single problem with the 15 or so Xbox One games I currently own, in particular with GTA V I find it runs better than the PC version of the game, that's just my personal preference though. I do however think that an Xbox One version would work quite well with the new "Elite Controller" that is set to roll out soon especially with all of the extra buttons that will be on it with the added ability to remap them to your own needs.

The funny thing is, once PC gaming is destroyed, there will be no reason whatsoever left to use windows or any microsoft products for pc!
Aren't Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot somehow?

Once it's destroyed? Am I missing something? I've seen more and more people converting to PC over the years.. Is this just me?

Maybe I didn't express myself clearly, sorry about that.
I was speaking hypothetically, stating Microsoft's ambitions as @LMS did before.

I know what you mean! As for me, the only reason I still use Windows as my main OS is for gaming.
If (somehow, in a distant future) there will be no more PC gaming, there will be nothing to keep me from converting to open source software all the way.

Ah I see, I had the suspicion you were speaking hypothetically, however it wasn't crystal clear, as you said.

Can't see consoles taking over any time soon!
