Installing Windows

Featured Replies

I have a question regarding installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. I have my OS, Windows 8.1, on one hard drive (C) and Steam installed along with all my games on another (F). My question is if I install Windows 7, replacing Windows 8, if it will make it soo I will need to reinstall all of my games again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Since you cannot downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7, you'd have to reinstall everything.

Well, since all of his games are on his F drive, would re-installing windows on his C drive really affect anything? I am led to believe that it wouldn't.

I'm guessing you probably already did it and are finding out the hard way anyway. But yes, because all games have to call upon resources from Windows in order to make them run. Those links used to call upon resources from your Windows 8 install will be broken because a different operating system will be in its place. Why are you bothering to downgrade now of all times? Windows 10 is out this year from my understanding, and it's free for people who bought a copy of Windows 8.
