Can a laptop run a big game like GTA V?

Featured Replies

Since you haven't stated any specs at all, I'll give you info that applies to ALL laptops:

Cooling is bad

You can get a desktop with the same specs for a thousand dollars/pounds less

You can't swap out the parts very easily

Actually, a laptop has always been an disaster to me. I remember playing GTA 4 on my old laptop and seeing those crappy graphics. A desktop has better cooling, and better cooling means better performance. Instead of playing GTA 5, you can cook yourself an omlet on the laptop and eat those. Seriously! I could only play GTA 4 on the lowest graphics and get less than 30 FPS. Nice that now I have an desktop than can run GTA 4 on the highest graphics with 50+ FPS. It can run GTA 5 on the medium settings (According to GameDebate). So, its just a simple answer;

No, unless you can bear less than 25 FPS.

Buy a desktop instead.

Unless you plan on spending a thousand dollars on a proper gaming laptop.. then stick with a desktop, non gaming laptops aren't designed for gaming.. their purpose is office use, so chances are games like GTA V will either run poorly or not at all.

If you want a proper gaming laptop then MSI,ASUS and Razer are your best bets.. however i'd stick with a desktop PC as it has better cooling and if needed you can upgrade parts quite easily.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

Plus the dinky laptop monitor isn't a plus either.  The biggest laptop monitor I think is a 17.5, which is the size I have, and it can't compare to my nice 27" IPS 1900x1080 which I run my games with my AMD 8-core.

Ditch the laptop and get a desktop for gaming.  I think it's unanimous in this thread.

Good day,

I personally recommend going to this first and checking your specs out by typing "can I run it" into google and selecting Grand Theft Auto V from the drop down list, it states your PC specifications and compares them to the game's minimum and recommended specs

One thing you should probably know: "gaming laptop" is an oxymoron. Go for a desktop - your laptop's cooling system is most likely inadequate for your CPU/GPU to run GTA5 at recommended in as confined space as they put laptop parts in these days.
