texture loss issue

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I've been having a problem with a lot of texture loss in-game. Here are my PC specs (for reference):

A Lonovo G780 Laptop:

Windows 8.1

Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20GHz Processor

64-bit OS, x64-based processor

Intel HD Graphics 4000

GeForce GT 635M*

1 TB Hard Drive

8 GB RAM (7.87 Usable)

*other info for GeForce Card:

DirectX version:    11.0
Driver version:        345.20
Direct3D API version:    11.2
Direct3D feature level:    11_0
CUDA Cores:        96
Core clock:        660 MHz
Shader clock:        1320 MHz
Memory data rate:    1800 MHz
Memory interface:    128-bit
Memory bandwidth:    28.80 GB/s
Total available graphics memory:    4095 MB
Dedicated video memory:    2048 MB DDR3
System video memory:    0 MB
Shared system memory:    2047 MB
IRQ:            16
Bus:            PCI Express x16 Gen2

That was probably a lot more info than you needed. In my commandline.txt file is: -novblank, -norestrictions, -frameLimit: 0, -availablevidmem: 1.1 (was at 6.0, but after some research I changed it to 1.1), -percentvidmem: 100, -nomemrestrict, -fullspecaudio.

So, in that commandline.txt I originally had "noprecache" in there as well, but it was giving me severe texture loss after I paused the game and unpaused it. The only things that were visible were objects that you could crash into, vehicles, the ocean, and the underground subway areas. After I resumed the game sometimes the textures would take a long time to reappear (like a minute or two) and sometimes they would show up quickly. So then I removed noprecache and then I didn't get any texture loss, I paused/unpaused & no texture loss. As I was in-game with noprecache out of the commandline.txt, I went into my simple native trainer to spawn a vehicle and it said "unable to spawn requested car, please check model" (this didn't happen for all vehicles and didn't happen after I changed availablevidmem from 6.0 to 1.1, only when it was at 6.0, but then started happening again when at 1.1). After this happened I started getting texture loss again after I paused and unpaused.

I don't know what the problem is. I'm suspecting maybe that it's video memory or something, but I don't know. The game isn't crashing, but the texture loss is incredibly annoying and severely hinders the realism of playing.

Thanks for your time in advanced!

It could be with modded cars, peds, anything that you can mod that's in the game. I'd go open Spark IV or Open IV and take a look at your MB for your .img files. Also try lowering some settings down a little bit.

edit: by .img i'm talking mostly Vehicles.img. That's where it all started for me I had to many modded cars in the game and it couldn't handle it. I'd definitely consider getting a back up Vehicles.img, and starting all over using the regular game cars, and see if anything happens.

I don't know what the problem is. I'm suspecting maybe that it's video memory or something, but I don't know.

You're using a computer that doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the game to run. It requires a dedicated graphics card with its own memory, which you don't have, so it's using a pre-set amount of your RAM and CPU to compensate. I don't think you meet the CPU requirement either, but I'm too lazy to go look it up. The modded cars are pushing the game over the edge. Remove the mods, the game should work as normal.
