I absolutely disagree. A significant portion of prostitutions happen in cars. Prostitution is sex for money, it isn't necessary to go any deeper into definition than that. The idea of people having sexbin a car for money is disgusting. I think that prostitution is disgusting altogether, but doing it in a car is 10x worse.

So let me see if I have this straight:

* You don't have an issue with people having sex in a car if it's not for money

* But you do have an issue with people paying to have sex in a car

* But you don't think it should be illegal to pay for sex in private

Is the sole problem with people paying to have sex in public? Should prostitution be subject to stricter rules about where you can have sex, while people having sex for other reasons can do it in more places? Or is your issue "people having sex in public?"

For "the legality of having sex in a car has nothing to do with the legality of prostitution" -- That's not an opinion, it's a fact. If prostitution is legal in general, it can still be illegal to have sex in public. If prostitution is illegal in general, it can still be legal to have sex in public. You could regulate the intersection of "prosecution" and "sex in public," but that doesn't make them related -- you could do that with any combination of things.

(In fact, I'm pretty sure having sex in public is illegal just about everywhere in the US, including where prostitution is legal. Allowing prostitution does not mean people may have sex in public. This is a fact, not an opinion.)

So: Which do you object to? People having sex in public, or prostitutes having sex in public?

As a prostitute myself, I would greatly appreciate the legalization of this business...

goes against my religious believes and personal opinions.

And here lies the problem with the regulation of the private affairs of individuals. Be it drugs, sex, etc, one person's values (or values of a given group) shouldn't dictate public policy.

It's the world's oldest profession. Legalize it. Just because you're legalizing prostitution doesn't blow public indecency, exposure, lewd conduct, etc out of the water.

If you wan't to get away with it, give a prostitute $200 worth of jewelry. It's not considered prostitution.

Erm.. He was simply stating that his religious beliefs cause him not to support it. I don't think the issue here is whether or not prostitution is a good thing. I don't know a single, sane, mentally stable person who thinks that there isn't anything wrong with prostitution. The issue is whether or not it should even be a legal option, and protected under the US Constitution. I think it's disgusting, while we're at it, let's go ahead and legalize rape and child pornography. That's where the world is going at this rate.

I'm actually surprised no one has mentioned porn yet. Perfectly legally to pay someone for sex, on the condition that it is filmed or photographed. Is it really that different? One is for the pleasure of the client, the other to be distributed as media for whoever to enjoy. By extension, the services are almost identical (in a way).

Getting a permanent mark on your body (tattoos) and selling your body (prostitution) is a greater offense to God than lying and stealing. Thus, I'm dead against having prostitution become legal again.

You can not like something without feeling the urge to legislate on it. I don't like cigarettes. I don't want to ban them.

I'd consider myself sane and mentally stable and I have no problems with prostitution. I think it is a completely legitimate service.

This isn't a constitutional question, this is a matter of state or federal code.

Also, no one who thinks prostitution should be legal is an advocate for the legalization of rape or CP. That's as dumb as saying by allowing two men or two women to marry, people will marry a dog or a tree.

Thank you, on the behalf of all of us who are not Christians on going ahead and making your religious beliefs into law.

Prostitution opens other doors such as drugs, and gang activity.

No it doesn't, you're paying for sex and its regulated by the government that's it, if a person wants to use a moderate amount of drugs, then it's ok. its their body, not yours.

and as to CK, you said this "I haven't seen a single sane mentally stable person to say there is nothing wrong with prostitution"

So if I think nothing is wrong with prostitution, I'm mentally unstable?

"I'm a marked man, so I'm getting out of here"

I do see both sides of the coin, but regardless of religions or opinions, it's just flat out disgusting. The ladies allowing a man to do that for money it just ridiculous. How selfish little brats the prostitutes in GTA IV are doesn't make it any worse or better.

Gameplay: You know when someone is about to pick-up a prostitute because the car insta-stops and then sometimes pulls over.

Those other posts was my Christian side coming out, but I'm still dead against it regardless.

People are stupid. Soon they'll try to say that those who want to marry cell phones were "born with it". An ongoing circle of humor in my eyes.

Being sane and mentally stable isn't a self acclaimed title. That's a title given to you. Otherwise everyone would be a genius, because everyone always thinks that they're smart. Prostitution is absolutely wrong. You can't compare it to porn, because prostitution and porn aren't even remotely similar. Prostitution exists for the purpose of purchasing sexually intercourse. Under this logic, sex means nothing. Sex is only there for the sake of boning some girl because you're horny. I'd expect this type of thinking from the left side of the classroom. The purpose of porn isn't to get boned. I'm pretty sure It's simply to record so that others can see it...isn't that why we have pornstars, and not prostitutestars? Isn't that why porn is in HD(Common knowledge lol)? Isn't that why porn focuses on the sexual part of the clip, more than anything?

I'm not one to judge, nor do I have the right. Though it is always a possibility, yes. The only time I've ever spoken to people that support prostitution is here on LCPDFR.com.

Even if you find it disgusting, what effect does an interaction between two consenting adults have on you?

People can say whatever they like, but that doesn't mean a person can enter into a legally binding contract (a marriage) with a cell phone. Marriage is, in legal matters, a contract between two consenting adults. Similarly, prostitution is an economic exchange. One individual provides a service (sex) in exchange for some type of payment.

Whether or not sex has some inherent meaning is irrelevant for legal purposes. My point in regards to porn is that it and prostitution both use sex as a good in a voluntary exchange. One is media depicting sex, the other is actually sex. Obviously they aren't the same but I think some parallels can be drawn.

Props to you for making this a "left vs. right" issue.

I don't see the connection.

With porn, both actors are having sex and not paying one another for services. The director (Or company) is paying them for THEIR modeling/acting services. Just as nude photography.

My point is that sex is something that can be sold. The actors/actresses might not be paying each other, but they are paid for their sexual services by the production company. Sex can be and is sold. I get that it isn't a direct connection, but as I said before, I think some basic parallels can be drawn.

to be clear if prostitution is legalized soliciting on the street will still be illegal.i doubt u would even be able to do house call all that would be legal is u going to the brothel

so you still wouldn't have sex in the street or car.

when this happens these are the results:

decrease in pimping

decrease in stds

decrease in drugs

decrease in violence

decrease in rape

increase in taxes

labor rights

better allocation of law enforcement

decrease in human trafficking extortion blackmail

decrease poverty

decrease in the black market

increase focus on underage prostitution

This is where the problem lies with me. Sex can be sold. What is sex exactly? Yes, its a method of procreation but it is also the ULTIMATE act of love. Sex should be cherished and held sacred. When you have sex with random girls and vice versa, it loses its intimacy. In my eyes, you should not be able to put a price on sex. Sex should be held specially between two people who love each other. This is my issue with it. Although, some people hold sex to a much higher regard then others.

Actually it shouldn't be legal regardless, goes against my religious believes and personal opinions.... Whenever I see someone pick-up a prostitute in GTA IV, I jump on them! Sometimes I even do a felony traffic stop.

That's all good and well for you, but i have a problem with making a law or keeping a law strictly on Religious Beliefs as i always remember this saying when i hear someone say something like that:

“...legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.”
― Thomas Jefferson, Letters of Thomas Jefferson

In other words he's saying People Should not Make Laws Taking away A Right someone has over Religion, which i agree with 100%

Although, some people hold sex to a much higher regard then others.

This is my point. There is no universal "value" or "meaning" to sex and to legislate on the matter if there is a clear breach of an individual's civil liberties.

Although for the practical purposes of this discussion I think it is irrelevant, I think sex can have whatever meaning you want it to have. It can be purely for pleasure, it can be something you  share with a significant other, etc.

Well, like I said, I think that it shouldn't be for lust/pleasure. But this is merely a matter of opinion. But I think that many more can agree that it's an act of love, and not just a casual activity that should be performed with random people.
